The Mega Crop Thread

What I did though, was to put the MC through a strainer/sifter. What was left in the sifter were all those small hard balls of fertilizer. I then put those in my coffee grinder. Now my MC is an evenly ground powder, which should give me a more consistent nutrient application.
That’s a good idea! Don’t know if I would want to ruin my coffee grinder but I like the idea! Maybe a mortar n pestle would be better and easier to wash!

It didn't ruin my grinder. I washed it really well and I can't smell any residual odor. It's one of those small Mr. Coffee grinders.

Who hasn't weighed out the Mega Crop, looked at it, and said to themselves ...
"I need more balls" :)

I try to make sure I got 2 balls in my teaspoon.

That's pretty misogynistic. What about the Caitlyn Jenner ball-less teaspoon?

Seriously though, I used to be super anal. Mega Crop has made me far less though. I do not worry about the chunks, and by measuring by volume rather than weight, I'm probably +/- .2 grams per feeding. You don't have to real exact with the stuff to grow beautiful plants. It's extremely forgiving.

I finally opened my box/bag last night to put it into an airtight container. Nice addition of the snapping "chip clip", but no measuring cup. (Not that it matters since I have something else I planned on using, but just sayin.)

Sure is some dusty stuff!

I do kind of wonder how many of those little "balls" should go in per gallon, just for the sake of curiosity.

I'm wondering if "00" capsules are equal to 1 gram of nutes? May have just found a way to make doseing insanely accurate.
As I mentioned previously, unless you've ground the balls the way BigD describes below, you won't get a homogeneous mix of balls and powder mixing such small amounts. That's why I mix at least 3 gallons at a time and pour what I don't use into gallon milk jugs for next time. 12g at a minimum.
I have one of those small pocket scales that goes down to 0.01g. That is accurate enough for me and a lot less hassle than trying to put MC in capsules. I did that with my first batch but the powder absorbed so much moisture from the air during the sifting process that I didn't do it again. I probably should have done it this weekend when the RH was 10% but I wasn't moving off the couch :).

Tried mortar and pestle...no way! And certainly not a bag-full :). Mini-grinder worked like a charm. And it still works for everything else.

Today because of a question in an organic thread I was obligated to look into the science behind Mega Crop and their aminochelated nutrients. I found a white paper on the technology and now that I understand a lot more of the new science behind this, I find myself incredibly impressed.
I will not be able to live with myself if I do not try this innovative new way of feeding our plants. I am about at the functional end of life of my overused organic soil anyway, and I was wondering what I was going to try next. I think I may jump onboard with Mega Crop for my next grow and take a lot of the guesswork out of what I am doing. Thank you everyone for having the discussions on this thread so as to make my introduction a little bit easier.

That's a big departure. Seduced by the Dark Side. Come on in. We at the Empire aren't as evil as they make us out to be. The white plastic suits do get hot in the summertime though.
