The Mars Hydro FC4800, Prescription Blend And Weed Seeds Express 3x Sponsored Grow: The Amazon Pt I: A Flowering Paradise

Thank you Krissi. I'm wanting to see your Topping, Training & Defol, habits as I think I go overboard on all 3.
I top my photos and use HST rather rather any LST practices. I do defol, trim, prune, and shape which is something I just started doing with this set of girls you are looking at now. This particular journal had auto seeds as you saw in the SAFARI that I topped and they hermied. I almost lost everyone, luckily only the autos hermied-both Gelato and my Big Jack Widow-my photos were spared. I am convinced it is genetics or the topping that did it cause I never top my autos and I did this time. Moving forward I don't see me topping anything other than my photos anymore

I have gotten much more brazen with defol, being sure the clean up the bottoms well and the center line. I always start at the bottom and look up, I trim the inside until I see that light coming down through the canopy to the lowest branches. I find it easier to manage what I defol that way. Then I go to the top and and get the strays I couldn't reach from the bottom

I think that is a common problem, growers try to do too much with their plants when they don't really need it. I hope you can get the gist of what I do between the two journals you are on now of mine.
I'm going to buy or make some of the 5 gal. self wicking pots to try one out for myself. My buddy uses them & has rapid growth.
I swear by these pots Buds. They did my veggie garden so well I decided to use them on my cannabis and it was a game changer
But he just lets everything grow natural without any topping or training so he gets big plants with small yields.
I don't think topping or training is the only thing that affects yields because like I said, I don't train much at all..autos untrained 4.5-5+ ounces. Imho it is the life you give them leading up to and including their flowering time that increases harvest potential more than anything else.
They stretch too much so no really big colas for him.
I'm thinking they stretch because he isn't letting them get enough light distributed and they want it so they go looking for it which puts energy into that instead of putting the effort into bud development, they stretch instead. Defol was something I was scared to do at first. I didn't want to trim a leaf but after seeing that I can basically grow plants with equal colas by shedding some light in there, I haven't looked back. @deltadubie helped me with G as she was really the first good defol I did on a photoperiod. Looking back, I would have had so much more larf and popcorn buds if I didn't take his advice.

Hope that my learning experiences on here help you learn new techniques as well. I have had nothing but great harvests since October and I credit it to utilizing all the tricks I have learned here while also figuring out which ones weren't for me

For now, I've kind of given up on doing sponsored grows. I don't like feeling like I'm required to do a couple updates per week. I prefer to just update once a week or when I feel like doing it. I'm also too honest about the products I get sponsored with & sometimes I say things the sponsors don't like. But I keep it real whether it's good or bad. Don't want others wasting time with products that don't work so well.
It's gotten really hard to find decent tents these days. They only want to put the large vent holes on the left, front & roof of the tent. I need large vent holes in the back walls also. If not, my ducting ends up really long with multiple turns in it & that's not a good thing. I also hate the D-doors on tents. They should have a door that splits down the center like they do on a 4x8 tent. Mars didn't like it when I was unhappy with their 5x5 tent because it didn't have these features.
I guess you can't tell them a way to improve their stuff & increase their sales.... lol. But, I will say that Mars Hydro Lights are excellent lights & I regret ever selling the ones I had. I hope to replace them before too long. When I do replace them, I will stick with them from now on.... That's a given !
I give you that, it is hard sometimes keeping up with the sponsors but being I'm a stay at home mom who used to work restaurants, I like the hustle bustle it lets me still have while playing Betty Crocker. You know, I have found that sponsors are happy to take advice. It just needs to be presented in a constructive way and in the proper setting. Naturally, a sponsor doesn't want you to talk about all the things you don't like on a product as you are technically a "product influencer" influencing others to use not shy away from their products. Maybe in the future, just shoot em a PM? I made a comment on my Candy journal how I found hot spots on the light in there and although no one reached out to me from that company, I noticed a post that they had up saying how the light does not have hot spots. I didn't argue. Not worth it. When I'm done with the journal I will send them the read outs so they can see for themselves and work on it.

As for getting back to Mars...man you shouldn't have given those up my friend!! I am so in love with their product line, no matter what model or what tent I see them in, they take grows to next levels

Blueberry, Bubblegum, Blue Cheese, AK-47 from seed

hey @Buds Buddy I just realized that link of seeds were for the older girls in my flower tent not the ones you were looking at in the beginning part of the Amazon journal. Those autos came from the journal before the SAFARI journal lol I linked it above for you-that journal started from a couple days old as seedlings...it was my grow #3 5 different strains journal.

Well that post made me happy and it made me happier knowing it made you happy. Happiness all around!
:passitleft:
I love it when all of us are happy!!!! :green_heart:
Forest of green stuff. . Got to love it
It's like Christmas every day, buddy

Sorry you two, Idk how but I must have skipped over your comments! Please don't hate me, you know I've got nothing but love for you!

Well guys and gals I was planning on pulling Onyx girl tomorrow but I think we are delaying that. She is now on day 4 droughting and looks like she may be able to do a few more days at least after these trichome checks this morning.

Her soil is kinda dry for the 1st time today but not a single wilted leaf on her

I would agree with delaying a little bit longer still some clear ones in there. Freaking gorgeous plant though. I love seeing those purple trichomes in there too. :yummy:

I'm kinda of relieved to be delaying her because of that reason, she is a pretty thing to look at every day, I'm gonna hate it when she's gone :(

You might hate when she is gone but you will replace her with another beautiful plant while enjoying her smoke :passitleft:
:passitleft:I know, I know friend. I've got a tent full behind her but you know how it goes...every one is special. Then again, I thought I would never love a plant like I loved Ammy and here I am basically crying about Onyx being almost done and don't even start me on Gigi

Noooooo i cant see gigi go
Why is there not a hysterical grower emoji with a saw in its hand crying over a chopped plant

Honest to the green Gods Buds, when you touch her the smell is so pungent you can taste it...even moreso today when i opened the tent to get these than the last couple weeks, just amazing her terpene profile

Oh speaking of Gigi and what @Buds Buddy is looking for, that is a seed to harvest journal of a girl that is probably a pound of great buds...she is mostly Indica but grew like a Sativa. I know I mentioned bud density in your post earlier-she has the long buds as a Sativa does but the density of an Indica so this would be a great grow for you to increase yields...the Gorilla journal in my sig...she's droughting now harvest the 9th or before

Hey Krissi, just reading through different areas on the site and came across your trichome pics, and wow, so clear! May I ask what you use and do to get pics like that, very interested?

Agreed lol idk if I could do a sponsored grow....I joke to much and once being made to post then it becomes work.... And once it's work I start to lose interest.
