The Girl Who Drank The Moon

Don't you got citric acid powder in stores? We got that in every food store here. U often use it when making your own lemonade and such stuff.

Not in any of the grocery stores in my town Crazy. But they damn sure have every type of junk food and unhealthy thing on the planet though.

pH issues or no, they both look good! How do you know your soil is at 5.8? Slurry testing are ya? Or is that runoff numbers?

Once my daughter learned the phases of the moon in grade school, whenever we would take a long drive she would ask if we were gibbous (meaning more than halfway).

I had to focus more on this PH thing and I went and calibrated the Apera for 3 points, I then got some distilled water and did a 3 hour slurry test. The 5.8 number is from runoff. It always climbs back up shortly after I water though because the calcium in the soil neutralizes the citric acid after about 24 hours. But I can't use PH down, because it will kill my bacteria. So I just have to ride this thing out. What sucks is that I'm going to have to do that same slurry test every damn time I water until things get back to normal.

It's funny that I am learning all kinds of stuff about the moon just from sourcing pictures.

Growing weed makes you smart.
:yummy:

Im not sure ph should even be an issue if you have an active herd? Ive never once even considered the ph of my soil or water...or even "teas" for that matter.

Ig I did get my water tested and decided not to use it...but that was due to the hardness/tds! If you have a good, solid, and proven soil...you shouldn't need to worry about ph...IMO!

Without me having to go back, can you post your soil mix again? And your watering schedule (nutes if you use them?)

Haha, that's so strange. They do start to hide the stuff away over here, a few years ago there was almost impossible to find Acetone without oil. Found out that the kids used it to solve out the chemicals used in the Spice drug to make it more concentrated... idiots. Terracough have been out of the shelves for a decade now I believe and as I said before +45% alcohol
you need a prescription to get from a pharmacy if you need any...

Definitely lots of science and chemistry. :)

I found an ending pic for your Luna quest. :D

LOL! Good luck seeing that headline :).

I know right?

I don't use synthetics. This is all organic so no nutes.
I don't really have a watering schedule. I just water them whenever they need it. It has been going a little over a week between waterings for Luna.
My soil mix is here:

Thank you crazy. I will be sure to use it for "the end" LOL

I notice both of those dr earth amendments have a good bit of bone meal, as well as your initial mix...im not the brightest guy, and dont know all the details. But I think to much of that stuff can kill your fungi/herd as well as throw your Cec way out of whack. Maybe something to look into...

As well as - the oyster shell flour should be a pretty solid buffer to any ph issues that might occur

Do you have kelp meal? Its like holy water for the plants and can almost single handedly feed a plant throughout its cycle...assuming the initial mix is fairly good!

The Dr. Earth amendments have kelp meal in them. And when I made my mix, I only added modest amounts like 1/3 of a cup for 20 gallons of soil. However I must have done something wrong because the plants are showing it. I seem to have problems every grow around flower no matter what. My last grow I used ocean forest by itself with nothing added and plain water. I still had problems with calcium deficiency and all kinds of stuff. This time I figured I would amend the soil before hand to head off the issues and still I am having problems.

I could probably use Brix and distilled water only and still manage to have problems with my plants. LOL

Darn, sure hope we can get her turned around! Shes a beauty.

Today both plants started looking terrible again. I took both pots out, put them in the bathtub, and flushed with plain filtered water. I sprayed the leaves of both plants to get any epsom salt residue off. I'm just going to trust in plain water with no more compost teas and no more PH adjusting and see where they are in a week. I can't transplant them because the pot is too big on Luna at least. The only other thing I could do if this goes south, is take a bunch of clones off Luna and stick them in DWC after they root. I don't feel like doing that though and I just wish they would grow without me having to rescue. growing in Organics should be soil, water, and laziness, in my opinion.

At this point, I may as well just switch to synthetics. Same amount of head ache. Sorry to be so negative. I'm just unable to figure out the cannabis plant. I am so good at growing vegetables, fruit trees, blueberries, all of the houseplants look gorgeous, and all of them in the same soil, but the cannabis plant? Nope. Nothing but problems. They aren't weeds, they are finicky, hard to grow specimens that's what they are.

Hey @RETRIX you should try out these for temp monitoring! It’s called a SensorPush and I use them in my indoor tent.

You can buy a WiFi bridge to monitor from the internet worldwide and the app is pretty slick.

Wow that does look pretty slick KongFuzi, However, I have spent so much money over the past 4 months that I think I raised the National GDP by a percentage point all on my own. LOL Thank you for sharing this. It could be something to think about in the future. Unfortunately though, I'm in the process of killing my plants right now. :slide:

Dont give up! And I beg you - dont go to synthetics lol.

My plants started flourishing more so when I let them be, now only the soil does the work as you said it should! Whenever I got involved in the past, things went south....and I thought I was helping  I think thats a good plan! If you have some compost ewc or kelp, that would be a decent idea as they have most everything your plant could need :goodluck:

LOL! I know that Van has his soil pretty dialed in but still top dresses with a bit of something here and something else there. Not often, but sometimes the plant is asking for it.

Laquer was kind enough to give me his recipe for his LOS and it's way more complicated than what you put together though, so while you're on the path to a synthetic-free grow, your soil may need more of something that just didn't get added when you made it. If you can grow a huge plant that was in a black garbage bag you can rescue this one!

Very nice temp monitoring. I'm in the process of thinking out some arduino monitoring system for my grow and water cooling. But that looks pretty slick! :)

You can never spend too much money on your grow. :)

I'm impressed with your Luna. I don't think you will kill her just yet anyway, but you sure try sometimes. ;)

Well I do use synthetics on occasion Laquer, Like when I do DWC, but in this case, I'm just frustrated. I will get over it, LOL

I keep thinking about Kharma and you're right. Did you know that her root ball is in this soil?

your soil may need more of something that just didn't get added when you made it.

Or a little too much of something for sure.

I'm impressed with your Luna. I don't think you will kill her just yet anyway, but you sure try sometimes. ;)

LOL Crazy.

please post some new pictures.... Let me see...
You got this!!! :hugs:

Yes, that's a good idea. I'm going to be posting a few pics everyday for a little while at least because I need to reference them.

My new thread has the simpler version lol! Still slightly more complicated though..hope no one gets deterred by that!? Shed?

I am going to be looking at this for sure. Thanks Laquer.
