The Emerald City

I was doing some reading up on the QB's incoming. The description for my light says "can be dimmed from 65W - 260W (Actual Max Draw) dimmer Included, produces 320 lumens / watt." If my understanding is right then 320 x 300 = 96,000

I also found a site that has rough conversions for types of lights and their lumens per watt (image below).

According to this chart though 3000 Lumens x 6 (50W lights) = 18,000. That's a pretty big discrepancy 78,000 lumens...?

Finally, I decided to go to the HLG website and see what they say for the 304 kit. 162/ lumens per watt = 48,600. I didn't order my light direct from HLG but the kit appears to be the same. I think the driver may be slightly different, but in the picture they look to have the same part number HLG-240H-C2100B.

I've read that some people are only runnin their QB's at 60-80% power because of heat output. Some further reading lead me to a site where I read about Watts for heating and the amount energy being called a Joule. 1 watt per second is 1 Joule which is 4.184 Calories.

Yeah, I stopped there too...

So time for that $17 lux meter...?

This is at exactly 5,5 inches. And at the moment the board is running at exactly 27,5 watts.

This can't be 100% true, as I did not calibrate it. However, tested this app on 4 different phones, and the differences in readings were more than acceptable for it to be trustworty.

Not quite true :) there is such thing called efficiency. LED's emmit light and heat. So two different lights can have the same watt output, but one will emmit more light and another may emmit more heat with those watts :)
If all you have as a measurement is watts then more watts in flower is better. Ideally, a $30 lux meter is an excellent investment. I can't even see my phone's lux meter under the lights, and the hand-held meter has a cord you can move around to different spots while the base stays in one place.
One of the damaged leaves on the Norther Lights.
Looks like a grasshopper to me!
So time for that $17 lux meter...?

Luments are for humans. We tend to measure plant lights in lux. I'm surprised that any growlights are measured in lumens. I thought only light bulbs did that!

Well the new light showed up today. Was on my way out to take the dogs, i noticed i missed a delivery, orange postal slip. Hmm, 3 days early. Saw the postman on my way back, flagged him down and got the parcel. Home. 4.5 hours and one trip to home depot later.

Holy Shit thats bright. Better pics later today.

Good Morning!

Some outdoor pictures of the Flower Girls. Just a mash up of pics I'm seeing some good stackin and tight spacing too. I'm cautiously optimistic but still unsure of my decision. One thing though, I've already learned the most important part of that lesson and I'm not seeing a week 3 defol, not til maybe week 7.

Time for a bowl. :roorrip:

it's nice enough to put plants outside where you live? lucky! 37 below zero here yesterday.

Would you believe me if I told you my wife makes me live here? :bong:

Because she wants to be left alone?

Plants look great, love the outdoor pics of all that stacking going on. Great summary of the grow! Heading over to read the review...

I don't like focussing on a struggling clone when I've got 6-7 others that are starting to thrive. I'm takin care of her but she's last in line for everything. I put her and one other one back on the mat, but I'm not doming them again. Live or die the choice is there's!
