these swings were of plant killing proportions
4 to 9+ within hours
I did 2 waterchange/flushes in 24 hours and went back with the new nutes AN sensi bloom a&b and bigbud

GD - yo sis, SH goofed one of my orders once. I called them and they made it right, no hassles. They might make an error, but their customer service takes care of it ASAP. I'm sure once you talk to them during business hours they'll hook you up. ;)

I know that it's not ideal, but my PH problems went away when I went with new nutes and PH up/down

PH has been rock steady since then
daily swings of .1 or so, I assume that's from eating nutes, drinking water and evap.

I can live with that

I'm going to call them tomorrow and see if they can replace the blown up Ona gel, and send me out my Rockwool that I ordered with the kit. It's going to suck for them to have to send out a small package of Rockwool.

I'm just a little disappointed with the way it came I guess. Blown up ona gel over everything in the box. Dented reflectors, PH up and down in Baggies instead of tubs. Hopefully they make it right.

mine is about 120 but iam about 500yds from the river alot of iron and i mean alot turned roots dark brown and extreamly Hard water

I started my grow with distilled water and I was having PH problems.
Maybe now that the pump and lines (not to mention the dead gnat) are out of the res, maybe I'll try going back to distilled, but it's gonna kill me since I need at least 18 gallons a week (6 for the res change, and 2 chilled gallons a day). :yikes:
The whole idea of growing it was so I didn't have to buy it, and so far I have spent enough that I probably could have paid for it until the end of the year.

I don't know what state you are in but do you have those cheap machines outside stores? I pay 15 cents a gallon or if I don't feel like going to the cheap store 20 cents. One gallon at a time is 25 cents.

How big is your res if you are using that much water it sounds too big. If you need to chill water you don't need new water just pull a gallon at a time from the res.

I will most likely lurk from now on or just pm.
 
GD I ordered from SH when they weren't as big so I got everything but the reflectors were banged up but I didn't say anything. I got new ones from HD which have much better clips anyhow. I don't think I am going to grow again since this site scared me whit all the warnings from the porn girls.

Burple I am with you on the work part. If you read my old post you would know that. I have found ways not to do work hence my comments to you a few weeks ago bout additives and lights ect. If you want easy and don't need more then a ounce per plant I will help you. I can't do the work involved as others do and had issues but survived them. I used about 6 to 7 gallons of water sometimes weekly or if I couldn't it could have gone 2 weeks. PM me if you want easy. I still think it was a mistake to do it in the heat cause that increases the workload 10 times if not more.

I just laid out another $157 for rockwool, nutes, and an inline fan for my tent. :yikes:
I wish I could get weed from a dispensary, but the dumba$$ state I live in refuses to acknowledge the medical benefits of MMJ.

I'm committed to getting something out of this first grow.
What it will be, and how much I don't know, but I do know that at the very least I'll gain a bit of knowledge! :tokin:

I set all my old stuff on a shelf, bought brand new nutes and PH up & down, all from the same company... problem solved!
does this prove my theory? no... but it worked

I haven't really typed everything that I have done, but I am very methodical in how I approach things.
I change one thing at a time, looking for whatever may be causing my problems.
I have tried all kinds of PH down from the type used for aquariums, hot tubs, pools, and even one that was marketed as being specifically for hydroponic setups (very expensive).
Believe it or not, the one for the hot tub actually shows the smallest swings, but no matter which I used I still had the same problems of the wild PH swings.
I bought my nutes directly from the hydro store, so they shouldn't be too old, but I just bought new (bigger) bottles of them too.
I even keep the nutes (which are in black bottles) in a box so no light even hits the bottles!

What type of nutes & PH down do you use?

Burple, You realize some things are reusable, right? LOL!

I spend a lot experimenting with different things but in reality I could grow for the next two years without buying a thing. Probably spent somewhere in the neighborhood of 3K for all my toys/seeds but then again I've grown between 60-75 oz and $50/oz or less for premo seedless ganja plus all the kief/hash I can smoke and all the vapes, pipes and bongs it's not a bad investment.

That seems a little large and technical for me, but I will keep it in mind for future reference.
BTW, I don't think I ever mentioned that my water out of the tap has a ppm of 164, but the PH is 8.3!
I think I just have some really sh*tty water! :laughtwo:
 
164 is borderline high but not horrific. For instance the GH Hard water micro is designed for 200 ppm or more and they state you can mix the hard water micro with the regular micro at your level. Mine's is 350-375 ppm with a 7.5-7.8 ph start point. Of that 164 some of it is good and some not so good. THe ph reacts to it all and it's a matter of playing with it until you find the formula that works for you and then you are set. Key for me was not overeacting to the ph swings as long as they were in range and micro dosing (5ml per tank not per gallon at a time) the ph down. I adjust the ph to 5.7 as a starting point on a res change and then adjust as needed but not a lot at once. You'll know you've gone overboard on the ph swings when your leaves get stripes.

The rule I follow is that things don't happen quickly in nature and they shouldn't happen quickly in my grow room.

For me a combo of cal-mag and one of the zymes compensates for any defieciencies my water creates. I tried RO but it had it's problems too.
