The Dealer's Choice - Mars Pro Cree256 & Cree128s Perpetual In High-Brix!

re: The Dealer's Choice - Mars Pro Cree256 & Cree128s Perpetual In High-Brix!

Well I'm at a loss here... 4 chemdawgs failed, 3 purple kush failed, and now the 3 freebie seeds I put in rooters failed...

3 more freebies went in directly into the soil again this morning. I might have to go back to the classic paper towel method or something.

Papertowell method....yuck.

If the seeds failed in various mediums...all of which are proven to germinate seeds....something is wrong with the seed stock.

I soak mine in water for 12-24 hours....I do NOT let them crack open in the water. And then I plant them. Near 100% success.....but I don't use seed bank seeds!

The last time I got seeds from a seed bank, I had ZERO success.

re: The Dealer's Choice - Mars Pro Cree256 & Cree128s Perpetual In High-Brix!

Yea this is a first for me. Normally I just pop them into some moist soil and it worked everytime. I also have a feeling its the seeds, so i'll just keep trying. I have a plan for the near future to make my own seeds around the end of summer I should be getting that started. If these new freebies fail, i'll just take clones from my Sour Diesel and run those.

High Canad,
Sorry to hear of your germ issues.
I hate when that happens. Seeds cost way too much to lose a bunch that way.
I have had pretty good success when I soak the seeds in a shot glass. (Its winter here so I use a seedling heat mat under the glass.)
After a few hours of so they should sink to the bottom..
I wait till the tails show then plant directly into soil. ;)

Well I flipped my Sour Diesel today. Its not the best flux but she got spread out pretty good ;). 10 weeks of flowering left and then its time for autos. Probably going to do 4 autos at a time in 7 gal smart pots.

Sorry about the loss of your seeds. In my opinion i think its a problem with the seeds too. But on the other hand...if you do manage to get some sprouts, seems like you've got one hell of a green thumb! And congrats on your harvest before the sour d. I love the use of the bamboo sticks. I can buy bundles of them from my local 99 cent store.

Plants are doing great except for the last pic with the rusty fan leaves. Cal Mg? Anyone using the kit that could chime in with some advice?

Sometimes you get a bad leaf or two. The rest looks amazing. You could top dress with some EWC and add some Wayahead to the foliar sprays a time or two and that should keep the occasional bad leaf from showing up in the pics. Buds and resin looking great!

Thanks Doc! :passitleft:

I was thinking the same thing next time I water I would sprinkle some EWC around and water it in. I used WA10 with last weeks spray. I'll keep using it. Which strains usually benefit from the WA10x and Should I start in veg? So far i've just been using it after my 1st CAT.

It's hard to say which strains need it anymore. Some of mine do...some don't. If I spray it on the Colombian I'll have problems. If I don't use it on the Skywalker, I'll have problems. Generally speaking, the more a strain has been crossed and re-crossed, the more likely it has inefficient roots and needs a little boost.

I haven't used it in veg yet....give it a try and let us know!

I love how High Brix growers are worried about a leaf or two....

re: The Dealer's Choice - Mars Pro Cree256 & Cree128s Perpetual In High-Brix!

I've yet to regrow the same strain twice so far so its gonna be a while before I get to know my strains lol. Spring time is almost here and I have better humidity, so things should start looking even better.

Also on the seeds issue, I started to dig up some of the seeds I had in the rooters and see that they cracked open with a little white tap root just barely showing. Thats about where they stop. No idea what would cause them to crack open and then just quit and give up. I tossed the Blueberry and Purple Kush that actually did sprout into the tent to flower along with the clones and Sour Diesel and replanted 5 more seeds from Sweet seeds into some moist soil. I'm going with Black Jack and I have a good feeling about these.

hey Doc, I'm about to germinate in a few weeks as well and I'll think I'll be doing the same as you. To be clear, all you do is drop your seeds in a glass of water for a max of 24 hours and then plant directly into the 1 gal pots with some ROOTS sprinkled in right? I've seen people wait until the seeds crack as to place the tail directly down in the soil but you seem to just plant without it being cracked. what would you recommend for my first go round?

Thanks

If your seeds are relatively fresh...12 hour soak. If they're old....24 hours.

Don't wait for 'em to pop.....soak and plant.

This better be some amazing smoke because the yield is going to be very low. I'll be lucky to pull 8 oz off these 4. 3 weeks to go before harvest.

Also along in flowering is the 2 seedlings that sprouted out of the many failed seeds I tried. Purple kush up top, Blueberry bottom. And the 2 Mango Sapphire clones I took just for fun.

And at last I'd like to introduce to you all...

I'm back in business with 4 healthy looking sprouts. I planted the 1 remaining seed from the first package I tried, and 4 seeds from a 2nd package I had. Guess which one didn't pop up? The 1st package must of been all duds. Either way I'm happy things are back on track.
