Re: Light green patches inbetween veins

I think that's a good idea. How would I get it transferred over to grow journals, would I do that via an administrator?

An Admin or Mod should be able to move it for you, either PM one of them or report your post and ask them to move it for you in the comments section of the report.

Hey guys, just a little update for you all.

So I got the girls moved into their final location over the weekend. I'm using a 600w MH and a 315w D-Papillon atmo for veg. I will add in two 600w hps when I flip to flower and leave the D-Papillon in the middle of both them. I'm using a 8inch Phresh carbon filter to extract the hot air out of the tent and using passive intakes to suck fresh air in through the vents from the window and room. I have a small clip fan on the far side and a 12 inch fan on the near side closest to the MH as its the hottest. I have an smscom fan controller running the 8inch fan and carbon filter with a sensor to adjust speed as need be, it also has the night time sensor to run the fans slightly more powerfully for 7 minutes and hour to help remove stale air and humidity. Im also running a humidifier to help add humidity and keep it slightly cooler.

The nutrients I mixed up in my res with 80l of R/O water are as follows:

Magne-Cal - 50ml 0.3 Ec, Aquaflakes a&b 125ml 0.9 Ec, root excellarator 24ml, liquid silicon 5ml, Ph 5.5, Ec 1.3. I also sprinkled some Great White on the clay pebbles underneath the net pots and top fed them some too when transplanted them. I'm having to keep on top of the Ph atmo, I think it's because of the new clay pebbles which is causing Ph swing, I gave them a real good clean before hand too. I also had to add about 10l R/O water to top up res after the first couple of feeds as my Ec went up to 1.5, I gave it a real good mix but obviously not good enough, it's back down at 1.3 now, hopefully this won't have caused much harm as I noticed it pretty quickly?

I've only got room for ten so I think I'm going to get rid of the two in the middle over the coming weeks. I've kept them for now incase I accidentally break or damage a plant as I've never done any training before. I'm going to try LST and topping. I already topped them today, I'm thinking I should let them grow up a little more and get used to their surroundings, cut some groves in the side of the res and use something to slowly tie and bend them down, eventually I will put a Scrog net up. I'm thinking they may need another 4 weeks or so veg before I flip them to 12/12, we will see how the training goes? They're just starting their 4th week of veg today from when they broke ground.

An update on the Magnesium deficency, it seems to have stalled and didn't spread too much. I'm hoping now I had my Ph pen replaced which was dishing out dodgy readings I won't have any more issues.

If anyone can think of anything I've not done or missed please let me know :). I'll supply some pictures bellow of my set up. Have a great day all!

so are you going to scrog the whole tent or just over the tray? id be bending them alot and filling the full tent.

How many floods per day are you doing and what are your water temps? Water temps arent as important with flood and drain but def much better if its in the 65-69f range. Plants should take off now they been transplanted to their final home.

I'm gonna try to fill the whole tent if I can, I'll Scrog corner to corner and try to fill it rite out, shouldn't be a problem with 10 plants in there would you say? Do you think taking the two in the middle out would be the correct idea as the side ones would probably fill the middle in? Atmo lights are on 18/6 and they get watered 3x a day every 8 hours on a timer atmo. Would I do every 4 hours when I switch to 12/12? Atmo my water temps have been between 19c - 21.5c, haven't dug the chiller out yet as was gonna see how it goes with out it, I've stuck a couple of frozen water bottles in twice a day and it's kept it in the range so far. I'm excited to see them take off :).

Won't worry unless I snap something and I'll give the stems a nice rub like suggested before bending so they're more supple and easier to work with. Thanks for the tip!

i would feed 3 times during lights on and not when lights off. water temps are in good range. Id stick with 3x feed in flower, 4x max but only when lights are on.

You could pull the middle plants, thats personal choice really. Just depends how you plan to fill the scrog net. those plants should fill tent corner to corner. make sure you dont fill the screen before you flip though. you still want to tuck branches minimum 1 week into flower.

Awesome, I'll feed 3 times a day, only when lights are on. Good to hear the water is in a good range that's what we want.

I'm having trouble keeping my Ph in a good range atmo, I'm having to readjust after every single feed. I send it up at 5.5 it comes back to a lot higher. It just come back at 6.5 so I lowered it back down to 5.5 before the next feed. Is it cause the R/O waters Ph swings so easily, I'm guessing it has to be the new clay pebbles doing this? They've had their 4th feed so far in the new system, first feed it came back over 7 so seems like it's slowly going down. Hopefully this won't cause me to many problems? I guess there's not much I can do apart from keep knocking it back down until it settles?

Oki koki, well I'll just keep em in and see how I get on then. Good to hear I'll get a full canopys worth out of them. Thanks for the advice, so should I put the Scrog net up when I flip them and as they stretch Start to weave them through the net?

dont worry mate. just keep on top of ph.. probs the pebbles but as long as it 5.5-5.8 you good in veg. you want fluctuation, thats a good thing. the plants wont lock up over night.

depends how long you plan to veg. if you scrog id say 3 weeks from where you at now and add the net at 2 weeks in. depends how fast they grow.

It always nice when you see someone such as yourself saying don't worry lol. Yeah I've been checking it before every feeding making sure it's back with in range before it goes back up to flood. Had a feeling it was the pebbles!

Yeah I've read its good to have the swing as the plants absorb different nutrients at slightly different Ph's. It's nice to know they won't lock up over night, maybe I'm being a tad paranoid of everything as it's all new, better to be safe than sorry though.

I was thinking 3 or 4 weeks veg before flip, I'm thinking to give them a few days to settle in before I attempt to start bending. Oki koki, so let them start stretching and then get the net up. If I get in to any confusion I'll be sure to ask for help. Thanks so much cult!

See, there is that wealth of knowledge again I'm so lucky to get. I've read so much stuff I think sometimes Im mixing up soil growing techniques with hydro.

I'm gonna keep doing regular updates on here anyway so I definitely won't miss the boat when I've got some expertise help on hand.

Thanks pal

So today was the day I decided it was about time to get in that tent and bend those plants with some LST. They were already topped one day ago.

I was a little bit apprehensive at first as I was worried I mite break them. After getting stuck into the first one all that worry instantly went away and it was actually pretty easy. Their pretty bloody bendy if you stick to bending the newer growth! I used medium strength garden wire with a soft plastic feel coat. Where I wanted to bend the plants I gave them a little bit of a rub and a squeeze to help them bend the way I wanted. I made sure to use two peices of garden wire on each plant. One peice to support the bottom of the stem and to keep it straight, the second to wrap around the part of the plant I wanted to bend down. I left a loop on both parts of the stem big enough to give the plants some room to move and grow. I looped the other end of the garden wire through the holes in the net pots to tie them down as required. I was pretty chuffed with the results, some photos will follow at the end.

I'm still having to keep on top of my res after every flood as the Ph is really swinging with these new pebbles. I reset the ph back to 5.5 and today I added 6L of fresh R/O water to bring the Ec back down from 1.5 to 1.3 as it had gone up, clearly they're drinking more water than nutrients at the moment. My day time ambient room temps have been 24.5c - 26.5c and night time temps have been between 19c - 20.5c. I've been putting a couple of frozen water bottles in the reservoir twice a day to keep the water temp in the 20c - 22c range, I mite just dig out the chiller soon if I have to keep using frozen water bottles. My lights are running 18/6 at the moment and the plants don't seem to be looking too bad at all from what I can tell.

Hope everyone's having a good day so far!

Thanks cult, I was pretty chuffed with the result! What do you think the highest would be I should let my Ec swing too atmo as it goes go up and I know you said not to worry about 0.1s? Just don't want to over feed the girls? Cheers pal

you wont over feed at 1.5ec in that set up mate. just allow it to fluctuate a little. If you see burnt tips on the leaves back off, otherwise just keep on top of your PH. Keeping PH in correct range is way more important than a few .1's on the ec.

I wouldnt veg more than another 2 weeks in that space though.

Awesome, I will do just that, thanks cultivator.

OK matey thanks for the advice, another couple of weeks it is. I'm gonna keep updating with regular posts so we will Def make sure we don't flip too late. I'm not really sure how much I'm expecting them to grow in the next couple of weeks if I'm honest, I'm excited to find out though lol ;)

Just a little update of what is going on so far with my girls.

I'm still having to check the Ph after every flood as still getting a Ph swing from the pebbles. If I set the Ph at 5.5 after a flood it will come back at 6.0 now, it gradually seems to be improving. I've also read about other people having problems with clay pebbles, some say they're supposed to be Ph neutral, they bloody definitely not, we'll for me anyway at least lol. I've been letting the Ec run from 1.2 up to 1.5 before knocking it back down again.

Been keeping the reservoir temps between 20/22c. Ambient room daytime temps have been between 24/26c. Ambient room night time temps have been between 17.8/19c. Been keeping humidity between 50/60% in the day time, it's been creeping up to 70% towards the end of lights off sometimes as the plants have been transpiring, I'm guessing!

Think the plants arnt looking too bad, they've filled in quite a bit after the bending and topping. Here's some pictures to show you what's happened over the last three days.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!
