Hey Preston, the more I look at it, the shorter it looks. Are you sure your going to have enough room for lighting and plants with a 1-2’ led light buffer? I wonder if you’d be better off building an 8x8 area in the already insulated area with more head room.

This stuff might be the ticket. Rigid board insulation and reflective...

For some reason I seem to recall a roofer telling me why roofs aren't normally insulated. I though it had something to do with the roof being able to dissapate heat, and if it were insulated it would warp or otherwise ruin the shingles since the couldn't dissapate heat off the back side. Worth researching.

Screw insulating it past about r8, think frame, poly inside, batt outside, still going to need more than a 'small' window unit once lights are up there,

can you pull fresh from the house at 70-78 degrees in? If so I would consider that + AC.

Cool ass project.

You could metal frame it too, pretty easy.

My crawl space gets to about 130 in the summer.

Decided to pull the trigger on a new grow space... a bit earlier than expected, but necessary nonetheless.

I'll be starting construction on a "secret room" in my attic. The footprint for the new room will be 15' X 22'. I'll lose a bit of headroom, but I don't think it will be an issue. The new ceiling height will range from 5'-7'.

I'm gonna lay some decking in this weekend to get everything started. I'm budgeting around $400, and hoping to finish in a week or 2.
Sounds like a " BACK Breaker " for an old cripple like you HUH?? LMAO... Gonna be hot up there esp. in Tx... Green day to ya and all.. :smokin2::nomo::popcorn:

We got a full house!

Snapped a few pics of the buds on these autos. SLHa seems much frostier, but I think the Ammy is gonna have a monster #occ cola.

Finally got around to setting up the water/feed system... Not really automated, but it's gonna keep me form moving pots around every time I feed.

Small submersible pump was able to push water to the furthest drip head without issue.

Even incorporated the old, gravity feed, nute chute tank to fill the res without pulling the lid on/off the bucket.

I'm sure there will be some kinks to hash out, but it seems like everything will work as planned.

I've actually thought about removing the deep sink & waterproofing the entire 8x8 space with the floor drain.
I could keep my water access by mounting a hose bib directly on the wall.

This would free up another 3x3 area. Basically, the only unused area would be the 2x3 "entry room (blackout curtains so light doesn't shine out when I go in/out)

Still thinking it over....

The attic project is on hold for right now. After working up there yesterday, I realized how bad my back will be if I have to move pots around up there.

I think I just gotta get rid of the "grass is greener" attitude & make the best of the space I have.
:meditate:

Nice frost and lovely pistils! I have to say I'm a bit confused about the res bucket. You have a red water hose from the tap on the urinal...that's water. What comes out of the nute chute in the blue hose? Some pre-mixed amount of nutes?
Yeah. I can turn the faucet on to feed the res with straight water, or I mix & manually pour gallon by gallon through the old nute chute.
Honestly only used that thing to piggyback on the res because it added an extra 1.5 gal of res space. I just use the ball valve on the bottom of the chute to match flow with the speed it is being pumped out.

Then I sit & wait... as it takes forever to pump through 6.5 gallons through drip lines. LoL

About the same amount of time as it takes me to smoke a blunt
:ganjamon:

But.... no more nute splash/spills while climbing over plants to water. My back can't handle it, trying to pour 1-2 gal per pot; 4 times across that back row. Ugh! It sucks.

This will do it for me while I sit & oversee things... sitting on my ass.
