Hey there! First grow here. I've bought books, scoured the web, and done about a month's worth of exhaustive research -- and now is the time. Since this is my first grow, it's also my first Grow Journal, so please bear with me and let me know what info I'm missing and what you want to see!

I'll also be working with my friend @southsidebecky throughout this process, so she may be popping into the thread with questions or info as well. :)

We're germinating today, 12/30/2019, by placing seeds in a pyrex bowl with bottled spring water for the next 14 hours or so. We're using the method described by the seed bank, Crop King.

We've moved the seeds to a paper towel to germinate. I'd probably be doing this differently if I weren't mandated to by a germination guarantee, but alas... here we are. Will update if there's a change...

My method is to put the paper towel in a ziplock back. Place that in between to plates “facing” each other and then put it on top of refrigerator. The warmth helps them germinate. Good luck. Let’s hope they pop soon

Yeah, if I don't see any action too terribly soon, I'll probably do something along those lines. Thanks for the info!

So after a few days of worrying, it appears that we have the start of a tap root on 4/5 of our seeds. We've made a few changes to our germination setup... such as keeping the room consistently warmer, switching to a paper plate, and placing a humidifier and a hygrometer near the seeds. I also covered the seeds/paper towel with a clear ceramic plate so that the seeds would stay moist but still be able to feel the air.

Pictured is an experiment where I was sticking one end of paper towel into a water bottle and closing the lid in an attempt to keep more consistent moisture. It was a good thought, but I think it was taking in too much, so I got rid of it. Seems to be doing well enough regardless.

Yay!

What’s cool is I just germed some too planted them last night. With any luck we will be harvesting around the same time!!

I’ll start a journal in a bit and tag you. I’m trying to put off having 3 active journals for a bit lol
