Tales From The Krip!

EARLY RESULTS OF THE RSO CAP'S FOR PARKINSONS ARE POSITIVE!!! :yahoo:

I just spoke to my dad again today to get an update on how he was doing with the RSO cap's after his first couple of days.

When I spoke to him yesterday, he sounded tired/stoned which is how he said the caps were making him feel. When he answered the phone today, I could immediately tell he sounded better and asked him if he had taken a cap yet today, assuming he hadn't.

He said that he had and he was starting to adjust to the meds so was feeling much less tired.

More importantly, both yesterday and today he's reported significant improvement in his tremors!!! The way he describes the tremors is that he can feel them "inside" and doesn't feel them inside anymore, or to a much less extent.

My mom confirmed his tremors were much less severe, too!

So, while it's only been a few days and we're all waiting to see how it works in the long-term, the initial signs are very positive for his Parkinsons. :thumb:

That
is just awesome :)
Does make you feel all warm inside to be able to help :)

Fantastic news Mr. Krip. Good to see good coming from your way

SHORT UPDATE - EVERYONE IS IN FLOWER

As for some updates, all the girls in the veg tote are now in flower and, since they're all so small, I have decided to do a quick breeding run.

So, for a little added humor, the original "Blue OG" that started this journal was from a seed given by a buddy who, a few weeks ago, told me it was really a "Sour OG" and NOT a "Blue OG". Well, the same buddy stopped by today (with some mighty fine ChemDawg, I might add! :yummy:) and I pulled some nugs out to sample.

So, he just informed me that he screwed up again and the Blue OG that was "really" a Sour OG, is really a Blue Diesel!!! :thedoubletake:

At least that's the current story! In another few weeks, I expect he'll tell me it's something else!

Anyways, for now, I'll assume it is a Blue Diesel.

So...I've only interrupted the light cycle once, so far, on the Blue Diesel. I'm having some second thoughts about using her pollen since I really wasn't that impressed with her.

I did order some Colloidal Silver last week that should be here in a few days, so I'll figure out what I want to start spraying then, but really leaning towards the WW. She's the smallest of the three and was a slow starter. Also, I've never flowered her, so don't really know what I'll be getting, but I guess that's half the fun! :)

Here's the Blue Diesel:

And the White Widow:

You can see, all are now showing pistils.

On another note, the capsules I made for my Dad are still having very positive effects on his tremors from the Parkinsons, but haven't been doing much to help his severe pain from the PHN, so I've been whipping up a batch of Canna Pain Cream.

It will have infused coconut oil, grapeseed oil, beeswax, tea tree oil, and lavender oil. I made it extra strong and used kief instead of buds to infuse the oil.

If this helps him for the pain, it will be another HUGE leap forward for him and, virtually all of his relief will have come from MMJ AFTER numerous doctors have been unable to help!

I'm really hoping this works! :wood:

MORE BS FROM OUR TRUSTED FEDERAL GOV'T

Don't even get me going on this one! The courts deny gun rights to card holders and say it does not violate the 2nd amendment, as if they cared about the Bill of Rights in the first place! :thedoubletake:

Just a quick history lesson...

The 18th amendment was passed to approve prohibition of alcohol. It was later repealed.

Why did they have to create an amendment to prohibit alcohol?

Because it was NOT constitutional for the Fed's to prohibit it in the first place!!! They actually had to CHANGE the law to do it!

So, let me ask you....

We know the 18th amendment prohibiting alcohol was repealed...

Where's the amendment prohibiting MMJ in the first place????

Seems to me like they skipped over the constitution by prohibiting it without an amendment to begin with!

Now, with states rights "trumping" (yes, pun intended! :) ) Federal law, the Fed's use it as a way to take away the 2nd amendment and then claim the exact opposite?

Seems pretty ludicrous to me! :hmmm:

Sorry for the short rant! :sorry:

Here's the article:

US court upholds ban on gun sales to marijuana card holders - KFDA - NewsChannel 10 / Amarillo News, Weather, Sports
Don't worry, the NRA will fight tooth and nail to oppose this ruling. Oh wait...

Poor Blue Diesel .... her questionable pedigree has been turned upside down.....again!:surrender:

Forget about the plant, I'm worried about my buddy who can't keep his seeds/strains straight! :thedoubletake:

They say that smoking pot makes you lose your....your....:hmmmm: I can't remember what it was, but your supposed to lose something!

Actually, I'm pretty sure that Blue Diesel is correct this time, it just took him three tries to get it! Usually, I find it helpful to know the strain before I pop the seed and not have to wait until I'm smoking cured buds to find out! :)

AND THE FATHER IS....

I diluted the Colloidal Silver solution down to about 60PPM and went back out to the tote to choose a "victim".

In a "perfect world" I would have chosen the White Widow, but, my world is NEVER perfect! :) As a slow grower, the WW only has the one single top-bud and didn't think she'd even produce a lot of pollen, not to mention possibly passing on a slow-growth trait to the seeds.

For a minute, I considered spraying everything and then just storing the pollen of all of them until I get back up and start some breeding. But, when I get back up, I'll want to focus on growing again and, during this down time it makes sense to get the most of it, so....

I sprayed the Cherry Bomb!

She was very quick to sprout from seed, a vigorous grower, easy to clone, and good structure. I have no idea what the quality is like, but those are traits worthy of passing on to both that White Widow, being a slow grower, and the Blue Diesel, being tough to clone (although, the BD needs some more terepenes, too. to stink up the jars! :) ).

So, I'll continue spraying the CB daily until I see some nanners and will continue to update.

Happy Harvests!

:Namaste:

dinner & a doobie?

the pot sommelier: Weed next to wine at the dinner table

may we suggest the ribeye with the 2013 malbec and a redolent gorilla glue?

september 13, 2016 – 8:00 am edt

to your left, a fork and a wineglass. To your right, a pipe for your pot.

The pipe, with lighter and ashtray, are yours to keep at the end of a meal catered by cultivating spirits, which pairs dishes with wines and–it promises–just the right kind of cannabis.

"we are adding a third layer onto your dinner experience," said its 31-year-old founder, philip wolf, who started the silverthrone, colo., company in early 2014. Wolf has two full-time employees and, after bootstrapping for two years, recently received a verbal commitment for a $400,000 investment.

He's one of the nation's first accredited cannabis sommeliers, having completed two levels of schooling at the trichome institute in denver. It's one of a handful of such schools, greatly outnumbered by the many certification programs for wine sommeliers. The legal-marijuana industry is in its infancy, with recreational use permitted in colorado, alaska, oregon, and washington d.c., and it's on the ballot in eight states this year.

Trichome calls its program interpening, which refers to "a method used to identify and understand cannabis variety, based on interpreting the plant's terpenes and flower structure. Scientifically speaking, terpenes are evaporating molecular hydrocarbon chains that produce scent." wolf "will break down the strain of cannabis and give that over to the chef," he said. "we don't prepare the menu until two days before the event, to utilize the freshest ingredients."

a typical menu features a ribeye steak with chili relleno, a 2013 malbec, and gorilla glue. For dessert, there's a white chocolate creme brûlée with a 2012 petite syrah, and blue dream. The protocol is puff, eat, drink, in that order, though it's more a sensible suggestion than a rule, and it's hard to imagine anyone getting upset at a breach, especially as the meal goes on. Wolf doesn't expect weed to replace wine at the dinner table.

"if anything, i think it'll take something away from hard alcohol," as the slow, deliberate tasting experience of wine and marijuana makes for a better pair than food and cocktails, he said.

Most restaurants charge handsomely for a dinner with wine pairings. Adding weed to the mix only increases the price. The minimum cost of a three-course pairing dinner catered by wolf is $1,250, which provides enough of everything to entertain a group of 10. The company, which caters at least five events a month, served 56 people for dinner on opening night of x games in january 2015.

Cultivating spirits targets bachelor, bachelorette, and birthday parties, as well as the wedding industry. In january, wolf helped organize the cannabis wedding expo, where his catering services were presented alongside smokable bouquets and venues that allow smoking. A full-service wedding package from wolf's company approaches $10,000, with additional a la carte services like managing the "bud bar" and a pre-wedding cannabis-tasting available.

Many of wolf's customers are millennials treating themselves for a special event, he said, as well as affluent women hosting an alternative dinner party.

"what i'm trying to teach millennials is to slow down a little bit, to get in tune with themselves and what they're putting in their bodies, to focus on different tastes and textures," wolf said. He added that he doesn't target that demographic exclusively.

"i feel like cannabis is something for all walks of life," he said.

Krip. Great and very intresting info.
Thanks man

Phrum the light room.

Yes indeed.
And I ran into a super classy cannabis shop a few months ago..like it was introducing vaping to "high class"
I can't remember name it was based in California and only for Cali citizens.. black boxes with goodies inside super classy style.

They are trying to take a way the "dirty hippie" stamp on cannabis. ( for a non smoker/user..the image in head when asked about cannabis is just that..)

Medical Marijuana Programs May Help Cut Opioid Use

Medical Marijuana Programs May Help Cut Opioid Use
By Cari Nierenberg, Live Science Contributor | September 15, 2016 04:00pm ET

Making medical marijuana legal may lead to a reduction of opioid use in adults under the age of 40, a new study suggests.

The researchers found that the rates of opioid use decreased in adults ages 21 to 40 in states that had legalized medical marijuana and where residents with prescriptions could obtain cannabis from dispensaries or grow their own, compared to states that had legalized medical marijuana but did not yet have an operational program for people to obtain it.

However, the finding didn't apply to adults over 40. For this group, opioid use did not decrease in those states with operational medical marijuana programs, according to the findings, which were published online today (Sept. 15) in the American Journal of Public Health. [Healing Herb? Marijuana Could Treat These 5 Conditions]

These findings seem to support the idea that marijuana may offer a substitute for opioids in people ages 21 to 40 who have severe or chronic pain, said lead author June H. Kim, a doctoral candidate in epidemiology at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in New York City.

There is other evidence that medical marijuana may act as a substitute for opioids in states that have passed this legislation: A study published in JAMA Internal Medicine in 2014 suggested that the legalization of medical marijuana in U.S. states appears to be linked with lower death rates from opioid overdoses within that state.
Medical marijuana and opioid use

Opioid use can be difficult to measure in general, but a positive test for opioids in the blood or urine provides a clear indication of prior use, the researchers wrote. However, in the new study, the researchers did not have data that was drawn from the general population showing people who tested positive for opioid use while they were alive, so instead, they used toxicological data from deceased individuals.

In the study, the researchers looked at data from toxicological tests for alcohol and other drugs that were found in the systems of drivers killed in car crashes. Some states collect this information on a yearly basis for the majority of drivers who die in crashes on public roads, according to the study.

Toxicological testing from deceased drivers who crashed in states that did or did not have medical marijuana laws seemed like an interesting data source, and it is an objective way to evaluate prior opioid use, for both medical or recreational purposes, Kim said.

In the study, the researchers analyzed information from the Fatality Analysis Reporting System database. They included data collected between 1999 and 2013 from 18 states that ran tests for alcohol and other drugs in about 69,000 drivers who died within 1 hour of crashing.

The study found that drivers ages 21 to 40 who died in car crashes after a medical marijuana law was implemented had half the odds of testing positive for opioids, compared to similarly aged drivers who crashed in states before such a law was implemented, Kim said. [7 Ways Marijuana May Affect the Brain]

"That's a pretty moderate-to-large reduction," Kim told Live Science.
Younger adults, older adults

The practical implication of these results is that fewer individuals may be using opioids in states with operational medical marijuana laws, Kim said.

This study's findings are consistent with what is currently known about medical marijuana and how patients have used it, Kim said. Most prior surveys of medical marijuana patients show that they tend to be younger than 45, and most laws set patient age restrictions at 21 and older, he said.

Some states that have legalized medical marijuana are starting to see increases in use by adults over the age of 45, who are seeking out marijuana as a treatment alternative to opioids. It's possible that future studies may find reductions in the prevalence of opioid use in older age groups, Kim suggested.

One limitation of the study is that the findings may not be generalizable to all U.S. states, the researchers said.

In addition, the results establish an association, rather than a cause-and-effect relationship, between the implementation of medical marijuana laws in states and prior opioid use by individuals, the researchers said.

[h=1]Medical Cannabis Could be Donald Trump’s Best Bet[/h]
[h=1]Medical Cannabis Could be Donald Trump’s Best Bet[/h]Chloe Sommers

Donald Trump has yet to declare a position on cannabis, but one advocacy group is advising him to back federal legalization of medical marijuana—because it will give him a boost in the polls. In other words: Election day is only 53 days away and Trump desperately needs votes. Embracing legalization would help.

Last week the Harmonious Code Council, a Washington D.C. group that wants to end the discord between federal and state medical marijuana laws, sent a memo to the Trump campaign urging the Republican nominee to back legislation that would take medical marijuana off of the controlled substances list. The proposal would also allow individual states to opt-in to cannabis reform or remain on the side of prohibition. Dan Perrin, the group’s co-founder, called it “a win-win situation for conservative states-rights supporters, and liberals who support medical marijuana.”

“Placing the issue of marijuana front and center of the political arena could stir things up for both candidates, and we think whomever comes out in favor of harmonizing federal and state cannabis laws will have the best chance of winning, statistically,” said Dan Perrin of the Harmonious Code Council. Trump’s support for federal harmonization with state laws “will appeal to the 54% of the general U.S. population, and the 71% of millennials that believe medical marijuana should be legal.”

Perrin and the Council outlined the specific advantages to supporting an action-driven platform on medical cannabis, as opposed to Hillary Clinton’s “wait and see” position.

The memo reads: “…[Trump] will be helping the low-income and African-American communities that have seen too many lives ruined by prison time for petty drug crimes. Additionally, support for legal medical marijuana will help states raise tax revenue to work toward Mr. Trump’s goals for better schools and improved law enforcement.”

According to the leaked memo, surveys show that 63% of Republican millennials and 77% of Democrat millennials support medical marijuana use.

Perrin is an experienced D.C. lobbyist well known for his work on establishing America’s current Health Savings Accounts. Adroit in legislative processes in the nation’s capital, he served as a U.S. Committee on Foreign Relations staff member, as well as staff to the U.S. Senate Steering Committee.

“Clinton is betting these voters have nowhere else to go – Mr. Trump should give them that alternative,” Perrin advised the Republican team. Trump’s support of states’ rights on cannabis could tip voters in his favor, especially young voters and male voters.

Taking a strong stance in favor of medical cannabis could also help Trump’s standing among African-American voters, the Council wrote. “Considering Hillary Clinton’s long history of taking campaign donations from private prisons, there is little motivation for her to work to reduce the number of African-Americans being sent to prison. Mr. Trump’s support of more reasonable drug laws could have a major impact on the African-American family.”

The Trump campaign has so far declined to respond to the memo. Leafly’s calls to campaign policy director John Mashburn, as well as staffer Jim Frogue and spokesperson Hope Hicks, went unreturned.
