Taking My Chances With The Devil: Dark Devil Auto & Devil's Crack Auto

I will have pics of purple flowers late tonight. This update is to say I got my QB's running again, and I have a proper plant sitter for emergencies such as what recently occurred.

Almost instantly the girls look relieved, basking in the 80cri 4000k lights.

Thinking about continuing to take chances and popping a few more of these devils...

Sometime next week my dedicated auto cabinet will be built, minus lights. May use some cfls just for the hell of it. Do like 8 23watters- 184 watts total for 3ft².... I think that may actually work quite well. Use those til I get my mars300 back. Idk, but that's next week's project for sure.

Here are the pics I keep saying I will post and then forget to even take the pictures.

I would like to buy a small QB to run that filing cabinet. Don't think the wife will go for it though. It would be financially irresponsible without a doubt.

I find it fairly easy to justify CFLs in 3ft². The cheap bulbs I use can definitely get a plant to the finish line. Comes to a hair over 60w/ft². I really have never done a small space grow, but they do work in a tent. It took a lot of plants to get the cfl thing just right. They are like my old reliable.

As far as breeding goes; this is happening. Going to try and cross my Red Point male with both of these gals so I can complete my sativa grow journal and make some seeds.

Now that my auto cabinet is happening, I have to get another "stealth" cabinet put together for my photo plants.

I am limited to DDA and SSDC for autos, but my strain list of photos is legit. A sample.....
Purple Zebra x red point, Mazar x Guerrero x red point, unknown x red point, da purps, querkle, purple Afghani x purps, purple Betty, trailer trash Betty, Alien Rift by ocean grown, and Double Sour Purple Kush which I am told is a pheno of las Vegas purple kush. I have options, so many that I am thinking about picking up some more Auto seeds. Lol.

Just impatiently waiting for things to happen.
Peace

Will grab some pics tomorrow, but....

The accidental DDA supercrop definitely slowed her stretch quite a bit. But maybe not, because she really is a decent sized plant. Sucks that she is living under CFLs right now. Leaves are staining a deep purple, gorgeous.

SSDC is growing, but not as fast as the last one. Not sure why, just is the way it is I guess... Maybe she is waiting for my male sativa to give it up, lol.

Fed same half strength nutes as usual tonight. Tomorrow I am going to feed about ¾ strength and upon receiving some advice I have stopped adding h2o2 until the day I might need it.

Neighbor just brought me a bud of golden pineapple, earlier he brought 3 random buds he got at Seattle hempfest, and before that he brought me a big doobie taped to a plastic paratrooper toy. It's been a good day. Time to taste the pineapple.....

Peace

Isnt it just wonderful watching that purp spread?!. I suggest giving blackberry by fastbuds a spin one day.

This is my DDA aswell

I will definitely check that out. I am considering purple mazar auto and golden canary (true albino) because they are both available in regular seeds. Imagining piebald buds.

Are those diy airpots? Interesting...

So my accidental DDA supercrop is all healed up with a nice knuckle. She is healthy as can be. My SSDC is quite a bit behind because of the week of poor lighting but is growing beautifully since being back under my QB's...

My only regrets thus far are; killing the 1st SSDC in a tragic accident and using 1 gallon Hempy vs my 20 & 40oz'ers. Otherwise all seems to be going as planned. The male sativa I am keeping around is going to give me some nice crosses with at least the SSDC and maybe the DDA. I will pollinate a lower branch on DDA regardless and try to keep it alive after harvest to let the seeds ripen. DDA is about 45 days old, can't do the math right now to be perfect because it is just too early in the morning. Lol.

Peace

DDA is starting to really put out some terps. Way different than anything i have grown in recent history. Definitely pleasant. That supercrop is straightening right out, lol. The knuckle is very large.

For the record, because i don't keep one other than here, SSDC is 19 days old from what I gather. Should be showing sex in the next few days. Hopefully my male photo sativa can hold off on dropping pollen until SSDC has a few hairs... Highly unlikely, but who knows...

Soaking another DDA seed. She is going into a 40oz Hempy identical to SSDC.

Also soaking 4 photo seeds at the same time: 2x Alien Rift (likely feminized) and 2x Columbian Red Point crosses. Time to get things rolling again. Those 4 seeds are going in tiny 4" pots full of coco/perlite/aquarium gravel. Should be fun

Sorry for lack of updates, both typed and photo. Life has gotten ahold of me and I get fewer breaks than normal.

So, no pics today. But, DDA #1 is getting really stinky and top buds are relatively solid, good trichrome development. The short light cycle won't have destroyed my yield completely.

DDA #2 broke through yesterday and shook her helmet off overnight.

SSDC showed sex and is growing nicely.

Lights these days are 12/12, everyone gets 1tsp/ga of maxibloom and I am running my pH a bit lower at 5.5.

I know it goes against what most folks recommend for harvest time, but likely I will harvest unpollinated by the end of September, because we will be out of weed again in no time. Still trying to get this perpetual thing dialed in. I like the idea of running three autos at different ages, seems like I will keep that trend alive.

Tied a purple string on two branches today, smeared pollen onto DDA#1 from my first about to open Red Point Cross flower... After doing all of that decided that we are just going to let the male sit in there a few more days, maybe a week. Wife said we may as well make a bunch...

SSDC will definitely end up pollinated, fine by me as well. I wanted it more controlled but it would be more simple to just let it happen and spray the tent down with water when I feel it is time. Not trying to get every plant pregnant, just these two.

My hopes are set on a fast flowering purple psychedelic sativa.... Lol, like I have any real control.

Getting excited... There is pollen in the air... I will be pulling my stud out of the tent for further pollen collection and storage tomorrow. Then the the tent will be sprayed thoroughly with water. Should have seedy buds in 6 weeks.

Observation time; my DDA buds are hard as rocks. This is my first ever plant under QB's, I wonder if that is a side effect of proper lighting. Lol.

SSDC is pretty stocky. Showing more pistils every day. Hoping she drops a few seeds for me.

Baby DDA is just doing her own thing.

Train wrecked, good night

I will be sure to post updated pics tonight.

DDA#1 is pollinated, buds are still fattening up.

DDA#2 is still a baby but growing nicely.

SSDC is throwing pistils everywhere and starting stretch so I super cropped her. No signs of pollination, hoping some pollen makes it's way over. I never sprayed down the tent for this reason. I have pollen saved if it didnt.

One more update.... My last red point journal and my random plants are going to now be featured in this journal..

I am currently running 6 plants total. DDA#1 DDA#2 and SSDC. Plus 2x regular Columbian Red Point crosses (Swami) and one likely feminized Alien Rift (Ocean Grown).

The three new plants are the same age as DDA#2. They are planted in 4" square pots full of coco/aquarium gravel/perl/verm, basically my Hempy medium all blended together and heavy on the coco. I am just bottom watering them all. Everyone in my tent this round gets the same strength nutes. 1tsp/ga maxibloom ph'd to about 5.5. I will be either staring a weekly flush for everyone or tuning the dose down closer to ½-¾ strength. Maxibloom and passive hydro are amazingly easy to adjust...

I do want to point out that everybody claims their DDAs get hungry for calcium and magnesium. I have not experienced this so far as I near the 60 day mark. Maxibloom feeding schedule calls for 5ml ca/mg. In all other phenos that I have grown with MB I haven't seen any deficiencies until late flower, but that seems real natural considering I start cutting back nutes about 2 weeks before a 1 week flush and eventually force them to consume themselves. All that said I have calmag and Epsom salts on standby so I won't kick myself later for being cocky. Lol.

Next on My list is to start another SSDC and either a Berry White, Cheddarhead OG, or a Glueberry (bag seeds). Probably do that when my current youngsters show sex in a couple weeks or so. Really trying to keep this perpetual, sort of a pain when I don't keep good records, lol.

On to the Next Adventure

Morning inspection reveals many pregnant calyxes with withered reddish-orange pistils, specifically on the side of the plant that was in most contact with my flowering male. This leads me to the conclusion that my pollination was successful.

Turned the lights down to about 60% today. The seedlings have been getting 100% and too close to the QB's Going to have to do some rearrangement in the tent today... Gives me something to do.

SSDC is really packing some tight nodes under the 4000k spectrum. Much shorter than the one I murdered by accident, but appears to have a much stockier stem.

SSDC has been droopy for the last couple days. I am still working on that. A lot of my plants droop right as they start to enter "full flower". I wonder if it is my small container size? Maybe also too close to the light? DDA#1 was kind of abused right as full flower started so the droop was expected... I will check pH today as well... I cut back to ½-¾ strength nutes yesterday as DDA#1 is just getting tip burn.

That about covers everything.

Peace

A later inspection of SSDC has revealed a couple of small orange blotches on two fan leaves. I generally jump to the conclusion that my pH needs fudging. I am a sloppy waterer and they could just be from nute splash back. Doing the monthly pH "calibration" shortly. Likely everything will clear up as it normally does when this kind of thing shows up. If nothing gets worse I won't be worried a bit.

Peace

Took the table out of my tent. Seedlings are at the floor level. SSDC is elevated, DDA#1 is in the exact same spot. Lights are back on full blast.

I haven't been watering with much runoff this run at all. Today I mixed up a 60oz bottle of nutes at full strength with 1½ cap fulls of vinegar for pH down and added 2 caps full of H²O² to (1) negate the algae in my drain trays (2) give the roots a lil extra oxygen. I fed everyone the same which is not recommended but I have done it before with no real ill effects.

If nothing changes I will reduce back to ½ strength while continuing to water with LOTS of runoff for the duration. No reason not to with the relative low cost of my nutrients.

Wife went and trimmed for her uncle yesterday. She managed to snag a bag of popcorn and trim from a grow he helps out on the west side. Seeds, kinda light in color but not white, decent stripes, most are solid and not deformed. He grew alien rift here. I will find out tomorrow what he was growing out there. That was a nice surprise.

Another surprise will be here soon. More genetics. It looks like I will have some Nirvana Northern Lights IBL, some Sensi Northern Lights Fem, and some awesome crosses including NLxGG#4 that hasn't been tested yet, Plus a few more that I am too lazy to list.

My breeding horizon has expanded exponentially. After SSDC is pollinated (maybe another week) I will be spraying down the tent with water to prepare the space for a new stud.

If either of my Red Points turn male they will be culled or segregated to do their thing depending on availability of lights.

On September 28th I am scheduled to plant another 3 seeds. However, i am Considering planting more so I can work some more genetics. I am considering a NL IBL x Querkle for a nice indica F1. Probably work up a few different crosses and then grow out some sinsemilla to see what I want to keep working with and set aside the rest for genetic preservation. Rinse and repeat.

I wrote this over the course of two nights, sorry for the book. I will try to find time to compile a complete strain list as soon as the new stuff arrives.
