SweetSue's Perpetual 3.0 - The Hempy/HB Hybrid Grow

I'm no expert but I used a qtip to apply pollen right on some lower nugs hairs and it worked out perfectly. Be careful cause pollen can spread easier then mites, even if it's in it's own tent I'd be sure to wash your hands and maybe turn off the fans for a day or two.
Very soild advice from the doctor! Paint brushes work very well also. I would spray the area with water also after you pollinate. Water is pollen's worst enemy any moisture will enocculate it

Thanks DrDoob. I wasn't sure if it mattered where on the plant you pollinated. By that I meant would it be more beneficial to do a top nug, since it's closer to the light? If it doesn't matter I could do a few lower ones and see what happens.

I can do the deed in the shower and then wet it down.

Hope you feel better soon... love the journal :) your lady looks great!

Well hello Papa. :hugs: Is this your first time in my yard? She's my best specimen of the Devil's Carnival yet. I'm finally learning how to structure them for my space. All I had to do was chop her completely back and let her regrow. I'm still considering doing the same thing to my Jamaican. I probably won't though, because I really wanted to let her go a little wild. :laughtwo:

Tiny paint brushes are often recommended. I use what ever I have, toothpick or a fork come to mind. But I am not very careful.

I have often wondered about the water and pollen. It rains outside I wonder how the pollen deals in nature. I dunno.
The pollen will travel if you need to be careful planning is important. Good seedmaking.

It doesn't matter which buds you use as long as they have nice white receptive hairs. I wouldn't wet it down for a couple days after pollination, just to be sure. The pollinated hairs will wither and turn dark after a couple days so you can tell that it worked. Although just rubbing the hairs can cause them to wither too so pay close attention, as if you don't already.

If you only do a bud or three and are worried about it or two you can put a paper bag over them for the first two days or so, the lack of light shouldn't hurt anything. I've used paper bags in a full room with no cross-contamination (that I ever heard about at least).

I had a few issues with cross pollinating even with the bags

Recently when I removed the bag I misted, plain water, the buds and adjacent buds and plants

SuperSue genetics.....atta girl!!!!!

I have been chopping my plants back and it has been working great.

It takes fortitude. :laughtwo: I hesitate every time and then I'm so pleased with the results that I wonder why I waited. Lol!

I decided to follow my instincts with the Carnival clone that's doing so poorly though. I started by taking the growing tip and elongated stem.

IMG_65819.JPG

But what was growing beneath it wasn't looking too promising either. Not the healthy leaves I was anticipating.

IMG_65828.JPG

Then I spotted some greenery in the dirt.

IMG_65838.JPG

There's the healthy leaves I was looking for.

IMG_65847.JPG

Ok, so take it down to there, why not? :cheesygrinsmiley:

IMG_658512.JPG

Since I had some aloe laying around from the clone cutting of CBD CC 2.7 I'd just bagged up I decided to follow keltic's lead and drop some of the gel onto the cut.

IMG_658610.JPG

Ok..... Let's see what she wants to do from there. :battingeyelashes:

Yeah..... There was nothing good going on here, and I need the pause in the cycle so I can take care of what's ahead of her. Thankfully, the Carnival growing under my GROWant panel is turning out to be my best specimen to date, so I should get enough from her to satisfy everyone. I don't want to lose this sativa-dominant pheno, that's for sure.

I'm so glad you checked in keltic. You've been having great success with seeding. I'd ask the gypsy, but he's out taking care of keeping his life afloat.

Does it matter where on the plant I do this?

I'll screw up my courage and do it tomorrow.

Hi SweetSue,

You did your birthday week of much deserved indulgence, then a complete stop to your #1 medicine Cannabis, then you got food poisoning, and now you're feeling better. Wow my friend, that sounds like a detox gone wrong. Sorry you had to go through that. Much love and care for your recovery, I've totally done the same. Much like the advice you give me, everything in moderation, but is life ever really like that...hahahaha. :lot-o-toke:

Still you managed to journal through your tough times, sometimes you need help from your friends. If I were to suggest that slowing down might be an option for you, I think your plants might slap me in the face. Therefore, I casually mention my concern for your pace as I run for the door just out of reach of your beasts. hahahahaha

Much luv and respect, Lady G, a smile waiting to happen. :)

I love you both. :hugs::hugs:

Hahaha! Lady G.... You both seem to have forgotten that I'm the energizer bunny of cannabis warriors. :laughtwo: I am taking it easy for a few days, doing nothing more than some incidental gardening chores and that's about it. I won't be attempting the protocol myself again until the days are longer than the darkness. I'm too reactive to the light to risk it again.

It was a relief to realize it was a bug, and not me going nuts. Lol! I heal quickly. The daughter stops over two or three times a day to medicate (her partner has some cannabis shame issues), and she's making sure I'm doing well. Sometimes it's such a blessing to have our homes so close. Three steps away..... not an arrangement many families could weather as well as we do.

Lady G, my husband went into his death spiral right after I started journalling, and at the time I was doing daily updates of the garden. I didn't miss a day. This is what fuels me. Lol! I run at a different speed than most. :cheesygrinsmiley:

You can try pollinating lower down lesser branches. I like that way. Then cover the branch in a bag to prevent spreading to the other parts. This way the big upper bud are seedless.
Pollens are insidious, they find the white pistil. I have had little success in keeping pollen on a single branch. I still like the idea of single branch pollination. I put the pollen on the top of the bun site but anywhere a white pistil is works.

wow I cant believe you cut it down to the medium, but if that is what the plant was telling you to do, why not. I have been researching bonsai techniques, the masters swear by using cut paste that is mostly made of clay, mind if I ask what gel you used?

*perhaps a staggered ween off period might be something to entertain... or never entertain weening off again... hahahahaha Well you don't owe me an explanation, there is no shame to your game when you bounce back all the same. I didn't mean to rhyme that, it just happens. I wish I could speak like that. lol

*I am learning about what a life line it can be when the world pulls the floor out from underneath you. I'm glad you had the support, and I can see why you are plugged in and always "on". Because it keeps people alive and connected. I'm like a horse, I have blinders on because of my studies, but I still like to run amok without the reigns on because I want to feel free. And the best feeling of freedom is growing, hence why I am still alive. Kudos to your energy level... you must be hooked up to an IV of green... and why the h*ck not... hahahaha

Cheers, mean, green, growing machine...

PS... You visited my thread today and dropped some strain knowledge. Just wanted to let you know that I am compiling lists from patients, caregivers, supporters and 420 family who know of specific STRAINS FOR BRAINS.

I'm going to start a thread soon with posting my master list of research over a year. May I invite you to drop off a list on my thread so that I can research them? I also created recommendations for THC/CBD percentages and lots of descriptions that will be posted as well.

You have some knowledge of Neuro Cannabis, do you know of any strains you want me to research that would aide in the generation of new brain cells? If not now, you can wait till I post my master list and add to that once you read my strain recommendations.

Whatever your story, morning glory, I just wanted to put out the red carpet cause this is a big deal for me to pull my research together for brain research and start a second thread. It's time to help others... ;)

Thank you J. :hugs: I've showered and fed myself a light breakfast that's sitting well with a singular hit of Chem Dawg. I've put myself back on my capsule regimen and I'll go easy on myself for a day or two. As you know, it's pretty wicked outside today, giving me more reason to lay low.

I'm pretty sure this was a case of mild food poisoning that hit at an inopportune moment.

It's the bug in the Burgh Sue, that's why my son and I were in bed for 3 days last week. I still don't feel 100%

I'll be cautious with the pollen. Having successfully beaten back the Borg, I know a thing or two about controlling cross-contamination.

It doesn’t matter which buds you use as long as they have nice white receptive hairs. I wouldn’t wet it down for a couple days after pollination, just to be sure. The pollinated hairs will wither and turn dark after a couple days so you can tell that it worked. Although just rubbing the hairs can cause them to wither too so pay close attention, as if you don’t already.

She's in a room all by herself, so I'm not concerned so much with everyone else. The tents are in another room, and the closet is a whole room away with lots between. I don't really care how much of this plant gets pollinated, and I was thinking of doing a top bud just to compare the seeds produced from top to bottom of the plant.

With this pollination attempt the goal is simply to get seeds so I don't have to keep cloning. I'll continue cloning until I've successfully grown out one of the seeds.

Thank you everyone, for helping me feel my way into this new skill. I can feel this is one of those moments, like cloning, that I'll find so easy I'll wonder why I waited so long to play. :cheesygrinsmiley:

May I ask, why do you like the idea of single branch pollination? Does that mean do every bud site on that branch?

When you guys talk about a bag, are you speaking of a paper bag or a plastic bag?

wow I cant believe you cut it down to the medium, but if that is what the plant was telling you to do, why not. I have been researching bonsai techniques, the masters swear by using cut paste that is mostly made of clay, mind if I ask what gel you used?

My late husband was a bonsai enthusiast, in fact I use his tools in my garden as a way of keeping him part of a project I started for his benefit. I've seen the paste, but I have none on hand. Cannabis typically heals these cuts without our help, but this time I'd just seen keltic's pictures of his treatment of his topping with aloe. I had just done a clone cutting, a process in my world that requires the use of fresh aloe gel. I simply dabbed some of the gel onto the cut.

I noticed you were compiling a list, and I'll look around to see what recommendations I can make. My focus has been more in the areas of anxiety, depression, and compulsive behavior, but the brain treatment you're playing with dovetails in many ways. I'll see what I can find. :battingeyelashes:

There you are. :hugs: I was getting ready to text you to check up. The tendency of the human body is to heal. Keep forcing fluids. Says the woman recovering from her own brush with digestive distress as she reaches for her water bottle.

I have a challenge in resting. :laughtwo: So much waits to be tended to. Lol! I took the time to do some generalized planning.

IMG_660112.JPG

Look at that! Only 14 plants total, counting the bagged clones. :slide: When Santa brings a new tent I have just enough room to do it all. Without crowding. :yahoo: It means I'll have to rearrange the bedroom, but it'll be so worth it to have four flowering spaces that don't use the closet. I want so badly to have some fresh DDA growing again, and that closet is their space.

It's been a good day guys. I rested, I napped, I cleaned perlite, took clone cuttings, and kept the water distiller going. That's what a slow day around here looks like. :cheesygrinsmiley:

It's been a long, but satisfying day. Time to turn into a sleeping woman so my body can finish healing.

Goodnight moon.
