SweetSue's Perpetual 2.0 - The Transition To Doc Bud's HBB Kit

I'm enjoying the Talking Heads production Stop Making Sense, one of Dale's favorite pieces of music. This is the first time I've been able to play it since he hit the death spiral. Suddenly it was what I wanted filling the empty spaces in my home. Wasn't certain as to what my reaction would be, but I'm happy to report it's been nothing but pleasure. :slide:

Sure is nice to put most of grief behind me. :battingeyelashes:

Grieving is a process. You were given a lot of years and have a lot of years to process. Bless you.

Sue I washed with fan leaves still on and dried till stem snap. Then cut the plant into 8" sections with fan leaves still on. Put these sections into turkey bags with labels. Put turkey bags into gamma seal buckets. Burped for a day or so till stable snap then sealed 2 months. When I opened the buckets I got SMASHED in the face with terps. Like never before. Overwhelming and so concentrated if it was someone else's I would have been skeptical they weren't sprayed with terpenes.

Do you think it was the two months sealed up in darkness that did it Shiggity? How tightly sealed were the turkey bags?

I'm trying to reason why this would have had such an intense effect in comparison to how we normally cure, and the only things that come through are the retention of the entire plant and the fact that they were in complete darkness, undisturbed, for that two months.

Can we be getting the cure so wrong? Is this something we could be investigating as a team? My spidey senses are tingling. Lol!

Sue...I would think terpenes expressed keenly because of the enclosure. No escape. Just like opening a can of paint.

Or...a cooler with a fish in there a few days after you get back from fishing.:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Ok, that makes sense. Does this happen when you seal a jar of properly cured cannabis and open it up a couple month's later? My stock doesn't hang around that long, so I have little point of reference. The only batch that made it for any length was some Carnival that lasted over six months in the back of the cupboard, and it wasn't that dynamically different, not in the way Shiggity describes. Any potency increase with that batch can be chalked up to THCa conversion during the storage time.

We store our product in sealed jars in dark spaces. We start doing that at the same point Shiggity did. What was so different about what he did that resulted in more terpenes being conserved? He burped for a couple days and then he sealed it up and forgot about it for two months. He got more terpene retention than we get with the standard recommended curing process.

I'm thinking we may have been doing it wrong. But how wrong, and what can we change to improve the cure?

I'm thinking a couple possibilities.
1.I believe the bud and stems were at about 62 after burping. Maybe if they were a touch higher it may allow the big branches to provide a slow source of humidity to the buds. But everything was dry not damp at all. That could have been due to the 2 way action of the boveda.

2. We trim dry and most connoisseurs do. Because it preserves the quality better. Whenever I have trimmed fresh I really saw a big reduction in terps. That's what made me start trimming dry. Well here the only cutting happens after 2 months of curing. Except for the branches being cut into 8" pieces. But the buds are whole including fans. No place for rapid loss of plant fluids.

I'm still trying to think of other reasons. But I am surely going to continue doing it this way.

Did you remove any larger fans before washing, or was it truly the whole plant? I have two coming down this week, three in all within the next two weeks, and I'd like to do a little experiment of my own. Just trying to get the process as close to what you did as possible.

Truly the whole plant Sue and I did check a few more days in to make sure that they were actually dry and not going to mold on me. I so hope that it works as well for you.

I guess one possibility is that this past grow was twice as good as any I have done but I don't think that's it lmao. Maybe a little bit because I am a super stellar number one major official sparkly unicorn grower!

Good morning everyone

Quiet in here last night. :battingeyelashes:

I have major movement in the garden scheduled over the next week. The decisions now become who to move where, and when to execute the moves.

Off to to my twice-monthly conversation café. One of these days I'll inspire them to a discussion of prohibition. I have a niggling thought that we could change the political conversation if we started a series of conversations in church basements to educate the general public about the realities of prohibition history and the truth about cannabis. Propaganda is used as a political tool because it works. Countering it effectively takes a bit of interpersonal time with a willingness to listen and the patience to maintain equanimity when the discussion gets animated.

But if we don't start somewhere we can't help our neighbors gain the benefits we already enjoy.

The thought's gaining momentum. Sooner or later the plan will develop. For now I'll continue schooling myself and explaining to all of you until I know what I'm talking about with such confidence that I'll begin with one group and work from there.

Time me for me to throw on some shoes and get out the door. Before I go I want to encourage you to engage the universe in joyful play. Took me the better part of my own life to realize that the way to get what you truly want out of life is to simply play with the cosmos. Make everything you do a game. Find creative ways to turn the mundane into the extraordinary. It's this mindset that you want the universe to respond to. It's this playful demeanor that gets you through the frustrating moments.

So be joyful to the extreme, and share that joy every chance you get. Watch magic happen right before your eyes.

Until later my friends. :ciao:

I so love these discussions about strains and terpenes. One of these days there will be efficient and low cost testing available. That's the only real way of knowing the facts.

I sure love ShiggityFlip and don't doubt for one moment what he said about his experience.

What the human has available to him is that sense of smell used as the tool for evaluating and all of one's previous evaluations. Add to that what the expectations were. I remember my first grow and I ate the first topping of White Widow. It was peppery. Surely that taste was also partially accompanied by some terpene.

A high terpene expression could result in an undesirable taste or smell when burned.

Testing....and also apply what the high was like.

Smoking mama Blue Dream this morning so don't take me too serious.:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Hahaha! You are at that Shiggity. Lol!

I'll give it a try with some of the CBD CC and Candy Cane. I've already stripped the fans from UD. I think it's the darkness and keeping them sealed for the two months while in pitch black. I'll look for an appropriate container.

All taste is determined by the terpenes. Can't wait to try that Blue Dream Jim. :hugs:

solar exlipse today.

It sure is. After I lost my closest friend throughout a long life to suicide, it nearly broke me. It took several years before I got my ass off of the ground and started functioning again. It's so hard

Suicide's a tough one to come to grips with if you don't understand our eternal nature. My daughter attempted a number of times before we found cannabis. It's the single thing I'm most thankful for with her regimen. Cannabis brings you back to the Now, free from the anguish of the past and the terror of tomorrow.

I'm glad you found your way back. This community carried me in loving arms and allowed me to pass through the scariest and most lonely moments without fear.

I wanted to try and get some shadow shots of the eclipse, but timing isn't with me today.

I was getting nice, sharp shadows, ........
.
IMG_034649.JPG

And then it clouded over and the sun moved rapidly to the other side of the building. This time of the year the sun is off my balcony just at the time the eclipse started.

IMG_034744.JPG

Out here on the edge there was still enough time to let the babies dance in the breeze of the early moments before the sun slipped out of reach up here.

They got their shot of cosmic magic, as did I. Think I'll extend mine with a walk along the river.

Cannabis relevant because if you could see my shadow I have a big spliff in my mouth!

Mine as well. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I was lucky enough to come across some women admiring the eclipse through the lens of a welding visor, and they let me join the fun. :yahoo:

I went out walking in the magical light. It just feels different. Hard to explain, but this was my second experience at it and the atmosphere definitely feels different. I love an eclipse. :slide:

Hi there woman....long time.....no chat.....wtf!Hope you have been....and are well!

Hey Duggan. :hugs: I'm doing wonderfully well, thank you. :battingeyelashes: The garden continues to evolve, and this one is evolving away from soil. Try not to be upset about that. It's simply a preference to a system that apparently works best in my world.

How have you been, my friend?
