SweetSue's Cannabis Oil Study Hall

Ok lets dive in deeper.. Shall we.. again.. for Scientific purposes Only:yummy:

So the Kilimanjaro, as noted from local Dispencary
18.7% THC, 19.2% Total Cannabinoids. Sativa. African Land Race Sativa Strain
My ACDC strain from the Local Dispensary
12/1 CBD/THC Ratio

If I was to Take 4gr of Kilimanjaro (I can easily spell it now:cheesygrinsmiley:) and 2gr of ACDC in a 4oz mix of Coconut Oil

Would this be a good mix of THC vs CBD for a Coconut Oil Infusion????

Also....Bonus Question...... do Essential Oils work in Edibles???

:thanks::thanks::thanks:

Cannabis oil is an essential oil Scorpio, and we cook with it. :cheesygrinsmiley: Here's a fun read that made me think of you, so I grabbed it. The lead-in picture is someone grilling. :laughtwo:

Cooking With Essential Oils

Your mix sounds like a good experiment. You won't know how it will effect you until you test it out. What effect are you hoping for?

Fantastic read Sue....thanks

What results am I looking for???

Not sure...I'm still looking for it.

I'm proud of myself. This time I followed PsyCro's directions and from 100 ml of olive oil in, I got 100 ml of oil back. :slide: Minimal loss to the plant material trash.

IMG_693611.JPG

It was a long day, but I now have 100 ml of oil for capsules and 10 grams drying in the refrigerator. I had oodles of fun, but my knees are still from standing at the stove all day. I still have clean-up to tackle, and that'll take the better part of an hour, with the mess I left behind. :laughtwo: Right now I'm sitting on the floor grabbing a bite to eat, feeling quite satisfied with the haul. :battingeyelashes:

Chew and I have been having an ongoing conversation about the potency of this fresh-harvest oil compared to CCO. The interest here is the possibility to leave solvents behind and use a strong infused fresh harvest oil instead. No solvent cost, no concerns with sourcing those hard-to-get solvents, and no need to purge said solvents from our medicine.

What do you guys think?

I want in! Where are the instructions? Please give me an actual URL, just not the creator's name. 420's search engine seldom gets me where I want to go without hours of searching.

:thanks: for the MATH WARNING, KR and :thanks: for trying to make it simple to understand. I have blogged your post and may have to refer to it sometime.

:circle-of-love:

Now thats a good idea. Blogged it too :)

Hi Sue from the colour, the water looks like there are possibly Cannabinoids in there. At a minimum, there are nutrients in it.
A 1/4 teaspoon (or more) swish and swallow test should let you know what's in there.

Kept in a small bottle with a dropper, or a syringe, you could drop it under the tongue, or add it to any drink.

I'm finishing up the fresh oil run of the DDA, reclaiming the last of the oil from the plant material.

IMG_693211.JPG

I took PsyCro's advice and tossed the bundle into boiling water, and now I'm boiling off the last of that water. Next run I hope to have a pressure cooker, although that may have to wait for the next harvest. My CBD Critical Cure won't wait much longer than Thursday or Friday. I have a question though. Maybe one of you can help me understand something.

Here's his instructions on using the pressure cooker, an alliance I have no experience with.

Filled it up a quarter way with water, threw in the grass, used the immersion blender to grind it all up. Put the olive oil in, brought it to a boil and blended it all some more. Closed it up, and left it for just under 2 hours..

My question is, what happens to the water he adds to the cooker before anything else? How does this water, and the water in the plant itself, get vented from the cooker?

Also, I have this bowl of water once I removed all the oil from the surface. Can anyone think of a use for this liquid?

First of all I love you all for paving the path for me with capsules. The info here is priceless.

So I am wondering about the 105C temp for the fresh harvest oil for 2 hours. Do you think I could lower the value to 99C for say 2.2hours?
The reason I am asking is that I would like to take 200g fresh buds and chop them up, then put them in a mason jar in a sous vide bath with half a liter of Olive oil. The sous vide and mason jar would retain all the terpenes and also keeps a very tight temperature fluctuation. I will have some fresh buds this morning and am eager to try it. The sous vide would also allow an easy second reclaim run with a minimal amount of water used.
I also just got some capsules and a capsule filler. I have a precise scientific 1ml pipette to try out!
So if you all think 99C will work I will make some caps today!

Oooo..... You're ready to go Shiggity? :yahoo: Yes, decarb is a function if time and temp. Decrease the temp and increase the time. I say go for it buckaroo.

I bottled it up and put it in the fridge. I don't know that there are many cannabinoids in there. I got out almost all of the oil, but looking at the color it's obvious I have a wealth of flavonoids, if nothing else. Haven't smelled it yet today. Wait, let me check.......

Oh wow! Look, there are cannabinoids left behind. :thedoubletake: The smell is amazingly delicious, so there are terpenes in the mix too, not to mention chlorophyll and all the other nutrients found in cannabis that we don't think about.

I typically begin my meals with a glass of water sweetened with stevia to counter the tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar I add to it. I think I'll use this brew instead. I believe I've discovered an excellent use for the leftover water.

Thank you for the inspiration Oldbear. It was your experimentation that made me consider this option. :hugs:

I've been on the iPad now for the last two hours. I think it's time for my first glass of this concoction and some breakfast. You'd think by now I'd learn to leave the iPad alone until I'm fed and showered. :laughtwo:

How do you separate the water out Sue, or whats the easiest Way

Currious how this works for ya, the water, interesting indeed

Do you use straight olive oil or do you mix in some coconut oil and sunflower lecithin? Why would olive oil be better than coconut?

Olive oil is a long-chained fatty acid. Its molecular size gets it absorbed into the lymphatic system, saving the cannabinoids bound to it the gauntlet of first-pass through the liver. Coconut oil is a medium-chained fatty acid that goes directly from the stomach to the liver and the enzymes that will appear to aggressively metabolize the cannabinoids, thus reducing the medicinal value, although you'll get a wonderful euphoric experience.

For all disease excepting liver cancer we recommend olive oil. For recreational or to treat liver cancer choose coconut oil.

When I'd squeezed out all I could manually I tied it up tightly and tossed the bundle into a shallow pot of boiling water. When that water was saturated with the left-behind oil I drained it into a bowl and continued doing that until I felt I'd extracted all the oil.

Then I skimmed the oil off the top into a ceramic non-stick skillet and brought it to a boil. That's the top picture I took. I learned quickly to turn the flame as low as I could and still keep the water boiling off. That oil splashes like mad if you don't. :laughtwo: When I didn't see any more water evaporation going in I strained what was left into the rest of the oil. In this way I was able to recover almost all of the oil.

It's hard for me to distinguish the full effects of this drink I mixed. I have such an abundance of THC in my system that I'm chronically high. It's how I function at the rate you all witness. :cheesygrinsmiley: It was tasty, but then apple cider vinegar in water with stevia makes a delicious, zippy drink. I discovered this combination just yesterday and by this morning I was actually looking forward to my first glass. :laughtwo:

I'm going to hold off on my morning capsule until noon, to see if I'm getting any noticable effect from the drink.

Ok well I blended 250g of fresh bud with 600ml virgin cold pressed olive oil. Poured the slurry into two pint jars leaving 1" headspace. I places these in a pasta pot with the water a little over the slurry level. Now to bring it up to 100C and start the countdown. I decided against using the sous vide because this will self regulate to 100C. I may try adding some oil to the water as Psycro did. This is Dynastygenetics Bluniverse, a super potent medicinal strain with heavy amounts of trichs. What yield% of oil in are people getting back out? I'm thinking this is going to be a LOT of capsules.

By return, do you mean how much of the original carrier oil did we get back? My pull yesterday was the best return I've gotten. By being a little more aggressive and using boiling water I managed to get back almost 100% of what I started with. It took more time, but it assured me that I wasn't abandoning any hidden cannabinoids.

The boiling water won't get to the temperatures you'll need for timely decarb Shiggity. You'll need more than a little oil in with the water. You'll need an oil bath to do the job most efficiently. Water will do it, of course, considering decarb is time and temp, but reduce the temp that far and you'll need to really extend the time.

Boiling water is 100 degrees Celsius. Won't that work fine? The paper psycro linked said 100-110 degrees Celsius with an average of 105.

OK, I see. I shoot for 110 minutes with temps close to 230 F. That'd be 110 C. Just time it longer and it should work. What doesn't get converted to THC will still be useful against inflammation as THCa. I never really quibble anymore about a more diversified cannabinoid presence. They all lend medicinal value.
