Superoots Air Pots -An Evolution in Containers

Ive been wanting to try these pots. i think i may have to, those roots look all nice and not twisted like in reg. pots. have you guys notice faster veg time and more yield with these? i assume you need to water more right? roots love air and i can see a better pot to do that

Hi irishboy OB has done veging in them with great results. I vegged under CFLs and an old 90W Led before I put them in the Airpots. Soon as I replanted them to Airpots they just took off and never looked back.
Yes, you do water them often, but I found the strain has a lot to do with watering too. Some I watered every other day and the others 3 days. Plants just suck up nutes in these things. This grow has been a wonder to me. Best I've ever done.:ganjamon:

Now that's a good question! Mine were the equivalent of a 3.7 gallon pot, but they seem to be larger. I actually placed a 4 gallon regular pot all the way in my pot just to see if it would fit, it did with room to spare. OB has the 5.2 gallon size. I think you could grow trees in his. In fact my 3.7 gallon only used a third of the space growing a Lemon Skunk to full size. Take a scan of my journal and you will see what I mean. We are just finding out what they can do.
Butcher just bought some for his next grow, that should really test them out!
Hope this helped you Buddy! :thumb:

I'm watching your grow all the time and I just don't say much, but I'm there!:ganjamon:

I'll be right over and add my 2 cents worth.

Thanks for the +reps. I try to help any one I can, Even great growers such as yourself.:thumb:

High Irish Boy! Here's what I've noticed with veg time. My typical veg time for clones is one or two weeks. With Air Pots the veg time is reduced to 5-7 days. Once they get going the growth rate is insane.

When I bought my 5.2 pots my eyes were bigger than my stomach for that one. OMM's right, I can grow a tree in these monsters. The plant I have in the 5.2 now will probably take a good sharp hand saw to take her down rather than the standard shears or scissors. She's a beast. I keep tying her down only to find her breaking the ties within hours. Now I've basically succumbed to her demands and she can grow however she sees fit.
I have'nt zeroed in on exact pot size to plant size ratio but I think about a 15-20 inches of plant per gallon is a good ratio. If your standard has been 5 gallon buckets you'll probably want either the 2 gallon or 3.4 gallon air pots.

Here's the latest pic of the monster ww in bloom now for 5 weeks

thank you for the info. by my next grow you guys should have allot more answers with these and they will be dialed in more. you guys are doing a great thing testing out these pots. nothing but respect for people who are willing to try new things and post it.:thumb:

I agree irishboy - these guys are full of GREAT knowledge!!

White Widow Clones, day 50 from Mother, one in Smart Pot and one in Air-Pot.

(hoping I finally figured out how to insert a photo)

Trying to give the Smart Pot an advantage, I put the biggest clones in the Smart Pots, smallest in the Air-Pots. Didn't matter!!:nicethread:

That's great Newbie2010! :welldone:
I did the same thing with those 9 clones earlier in this thread. I put the best seven in regulasr pots with the other two weakest runts in the Air Pots only to watch the air pot clones growth rate go screaming by the regulars. It's a wild thing to see.
Have a great weekend Buddy!

My maters got out of hand in the air pots. I was using the 4.3 gallon, 10 inch diameter, 14 inch tall pots. Was doing my first real grow under decent lights, 8 tube Quantum Badboy T-5, and a Lumatek 600 watt ballast and Hortilux Super HPS with an Adjust-A-Wind Medium Reflector, using Fox Farms. Things got way out of hand real fast. Had to take the maters outside to the Great Spirit's lights and breezes, to get things back under control. These pots are at the top of the learning curve in growing plants.

HI OilFieldTrash Surprise , with all your great lighting and a great setup,
the airpot got you buddy. These things grow plants like crazy as you found out.
Thank goodness you could put that girl outside.:ganjamon:

Indoors, top em , LST, FIM them needless to say, otherwise they explode with growth. Sorry, you found out this way. But, I bet you'll try em again. :peace:

Welcome to the world of unruly beastly plants! You've seen Little Shop of Horrors right! Consider that movie/play an Air Pot growers guide!

Got some update info.
The heat has set in and I'm struggling to keep up with water demands. My bloom cab temps are between 79 and 85 degrees. The more mature plants that have roots throughout the pots are drying up within hours of being watered. I have one plant that got so heat stressed i had to transplant it to a larger solid pot to keep water in it. Hopefully the plant will survive. If it does it will be significantly stunted and most likely the entire plant will go to the hash bucket when it ripens.
The massive plant I have in the 5.2 is also feeling the stress. She's dropping leaves from both heat and low N stress. She's only maybe two three max weeks away from harvest so some of it can be attributed to her just being at the end of the road but the warm dry air is taking a toll.
I dont think I can continue to bloom in air pots thru the Summer. Not with the way these plants explode with growth. It's too difficult for me to keep up with watering. Not too mention that watering a mature plant takes about 3 minutes per plant to slowly let the water get soaked into the root ball.
I'm making plans now to prepare to transplant any more air pot plants to solid containers once they fill out the air pots with roots. I'll revisit blooming with the air pots in the Fall & Winter.
On another note I'm experiencing awesome results on two test plants that were vegged in air pots and then transfered to standard ribbed nursery pots for bloom. These plants have spectacular root structure and are showing no signs of stress. In fact they look very happy.
So far it looks like my plants are telling me to go ahead and use the air pots for veg year round but only use the air pots for bloom during the cool season.
Some of you may not have these issues that I'm having now. I think alot of this has to do with me living in the freakin' desert and the White Widow strain I'm growing. These widows grow massive root balls compared to some other strains I've grown in the past.
