Superoots Air Pots -An Evolution in Containers

I agree 100%. The one thing this test has not shown is how a plant started from seed will do.

Being clones, they dont have one tap root and thousands of feeder roots coming off that tap root. They have dozens of tap roots with thousands of feeder roots. When those tap roots poke thru the air holes in the side of the pot they form a callus at the tip and start growing more tap roots off the part of the original tap root that's still in the soil. It's kinda like if you cut off the end of your finger, instead of having a nub, your finger grows two more fingers out of the side of the nub to grow as long as the original finger. Then those new fingers get cut off and the process repats itself.

This is why the plants are feeding so heavily. Instead of the plant feeding itself with small feeder roots they're gorging on nutes because they're feeding thru tap roots. ;)

I got a delivery confirmation # yesterday on some new seed stock. Hopefully they dont get intercepted and make it here. The strain is Yumboldt 47 and I plan on using Air Pots for every stage of the grow. My biggest question is will that massive tap root from a seed do the same type of branching? Should be very interesting! :grinjoint:

Nice explanation my friend. I think this will be a force in the future.:bravo:

The two plants 72 hours after being after being potted up into the 3.4 gallon Air Pots

Ordered some 1L for initial veg growth and 16L for LSTing and flowering.

I also have some Smart Pots in similar sizes, so I'll compare the growth in each. I have some WW cloning now.

Thanks for all the work you guys have done!!

Hi OB Thought I would ad my experience using AirPots so far.
Here a little evolution I have had so far.:grinjoint:

Here is a Strawberry Haze freebie I started in a 6" regular pot. I let her get to 16 " and put her into a 3.7 gallon AirPot with FFOF with about 20% more perlite.

This her after a week outside,:grinjoint:

This is her after 10 days outside.

As you can see her growth has been fantastic. Here in Hawaii the winds and rains are almost a daily thing and she has taken it in stride. Today after 17 days she is over 4 feet tall and has 38 bud sites. Sorry lost that picture somewhere. I have given her one watering with molasses and only 2 feedings of nutes. She has been flooded by many rain storms and the AirPots just let the rain flow through her. I think the AirPots design is great, they always get the oxygen to the plant. I have yet to see even one discolored leaf on her.

That said, I don't think I will ever go back to regular pots. I love these things, they make me look like a pro grower.:cheertwo:

my Air-Pots should be in the mail today and if my WW clones ever root, I'll try out the new containers!!

I'll have a mix of Air-Pots and Smart Pots, only because I have Smart Pots with the label still attached - brand new! I bought them before OB introduced me to these Air-Pots.

Hey Great!newbie2010:grinjoint: I think you will love em, they really work. Everyone that sees them love the high tech look too.
Think of it this way, you can do a comparison grow and then you will know which did the best job. Hope you start a journal so we can all watch.:cheertwo:

Thanks so much for posting OMM! Your ladies are truly magnificent! The combo of air pots and the Hawaiian tropic weather looks like a definate winner!
I liken the Air Pots to having that ace up the sleeve, the not so secret weapon that can take a garden to the next level. :bravo::bravo::bravo::bravo::bravo::bravo:

I see us as pioneers with these pots and we are spreading the word. Here in the US. Not the rest of the world who already uses them. Specially Europe. :grinjoint:

Definately pioneers when it comes to MJ horticulture! I think they've indeed been the standard in European agriculture for awhile now.
A big selling point for me was what LariAnn Gardner of Aroidia Research in Florida has done with them. She sold me my two 5.2 Air Pots. She is a world class botanist who has created several Aroid hybrids that are Elephant Ears type plants and philodendroms. She has won best in show and most unusal plant awards at several shows and has been using Air Pots in her work
Even though we're growing totally different species of plants I knew that since MJ loves an oxygenated root zone these would be a huge plus to have in my garden.:grinjoint:

OB Thanks for the info. There is no doubt in my mind that we will see even more pots that oxygenate roots in the future. It works!!!

Man a 5.2 AirPot. You gonna grow a tree or two? :cheertwo:
Yeah my eyes were a bit bigger than my stomach on that buy! Never seeing one up close before I thought the 5 gallon Air Pots would be the same size as my five gallon nursery pots and boy was I wrong. That mama plant above is in a 5.2 pot and I think she could easily grow to be 6' plus with no problems. I would probably have to rent a water truck and plug the hose into her pot she would drink so much.;)

Update time!
The big mama plant has outgrown the veg box and has been moved to flower. Because of her size I had to make special accomodations for her in my bloom hut.
I gave her a side light of a 2 foot 4 bulb T5 fixture with three red spectrum bulbs and one blue spectrum bulbs. I've also placed my 90 watt Red, Blue, & Orange spectrum UFO LED at a banked angle several inches from where her cola will develop. The main light in the bloom hut is a 430 watt son agro hps with an Eye Hortilux bulb. She recieves an abundance of light from all three sources. She is also rotated daily to insure a uniform development.
Right now she stands at 52 niches tall, pot included, and 30 inches wide.
I've also added Dark Energy and Liquid Light + Penetrator to her feeding program

I've also started two new seedlings of Yumbolt 47 in the 4"x6" air pots. Right now they are under the 250 watt MH in a blend of 1 bag OF + 1 Bag Light Warrior + 1/2 bag Happy Frog. I'm watering them with bottled spring water for the first month of their lives.

Hey OB That girl is beautiful. Way to cover her with light. She should just thrive now.. I'll be watching how the Dark Energy and Liquid Light + Penetrator effects her. Heard lots of good stuff about it. :slide:

Youngins look good too! :grinjoint:

Thanks OMM!
The original plan was to move her outdoors but I live in an urban area and just got some new neighbors.
My new neighbors are very interested in my landscape and veggie garden and have been coming over to inquire how I work my magic in the yard so they too can have a nice garden. I know they dont smoke so I just dont want them to be checking out my roses and come across a monster ganja bush so I'm keeping her indoors. :rasta:

Sorry but,:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Rub it in why dont you! LOL

If they could read my mind when they ask how I get my roses to be so big they would freak. I always have that big mama on the back of my mind thinking if you think I did something good with these roses you should see the beast I really take good care of!

:grinjoint::rasta:RoorRip

I was thinking the same thing! That's what struck me so funny :yahoo:

I started five White Rhino seeds, Greenhouse, and three survived.

One had the cotyledons fused and separating them with a fingernail did nothing - no growth.

One I accidentally snapped the stem - oops. Never again will I forget to use the root cubes when starting a grow.

So, one of the three remaining is going to be a mother and the other two were transferred; both from 1 gallon Smart Pots to 1) 5 gallon Smart Pot and 2) a 16L Air-Pot (about 4 gallons).

I took photos of Day 1 and Day 4 in the bigger pots, doing low stress training (LST). Since I don't know how to link photos, you can see these photos in my gallery.

The Air-Pot seedling is AMAZING after only 4 days. The Smart Pot seedling is also beautiful, but the Air-Pot specimen seems twice as big. The seedlings were nearly the same size when re-potted.

I am still trying to clone a White Widow and I think I finally did it!! I transferred a few into 3L Air-Pots and a few into 1 gallon Smart Pots. This should convince me that the Air-Pots are hands down the best choice for vegging. Since I think I have figured out this cloning thing, I'm going to sacrifice a Smart Pot clone and an Air-Pot clone to photograph the root development.

Peace.
