You're gonna need a bigger balcony.
Well its not what Cheif Brody actually said, but its what he would say if he saw yours.

Hang on a sec! You mean the southern hemisphere is on a different equinox/solstice schedule from the northern? Your last day of summer should be our last day of winter, which is March 21st.It is the last official day of Summer for us in the Southern Hemisphere
Thanks DV8! Yep, 4 is a bit too much. You're gonna need a bigger balcony.

Thanks Beez!Looking lovely, Stunger!
I think the sieve approach is good if you cut off some of the bigger more mature pollen balls and let them dry and open in the sieve to fall thru to collect underneath. Otherwise cut off the top of a stem and hang it over a bowl to catch the pollen that falls. You don't need much. I am mindful of not wanting any, or too much, green matter that contains moisture falling into the dry collected pollen as that could neuter it!Stunger I need your help with something I need the skinny on male plants when they pop produce and release pollen. So I can catch it like you did. I have three males to collect from. Which going down to one. Soon and I find my axe
Thanks Shed! These outdoor grows are all a bit of a flash in the pan, they're soon over and then you gotta wait for the season to come around again. I wish I could grow outdoors all year around.More amazing with every passing day! Can't wait for the pollination process.

Or do you mean the unofficial last day of summer, which in the US is Labor Day (first Monday in September)?
Yeah it doesn't seem right as it always feels Summer carries on to about then. That's cray! I didn't realize it was a government declaration rather than an astronomical occurrence.
Cheers DD, it's certainly busting out, no room to swing a cat, or fit any galley rowers for that matter!Nice work up there Koro. Good to see the balcony crew busting out like like that. I’m excited for your pollen gathering
Thanks Gaz! I am mostly giving them a daily mid morning watering of fresh tap water, to moisten up the soil and mulch layer, then midday/afternoon I given them a larger watering that includes 'worm wee' from my worm farm. On previous grows, I have given foliar feeding too, but I haven't done so this grow. However about once a month I include in their worm wee waterings, a dash of 'Seasol' Kelp extract, a dash of Humic/Fulvic acids, and a dash of Fish Hydrolysate. Thanks a sick looking sea of green pal, definitely not much room for sunbathing on that balcony
The Malanje is a beast. I'm a sucker for a well topped and nice even canapoy... Are u making any teas?
Nice, sounds like a great plan. Is humic/ fulvic acids same as giving molasses? To feed microbiology? When u refer to kelp, is that same as seaweed dust? Thanks in advance. Thanks Gaz! Hey Gaz, No, not related to molasses. Humic/Fulvic acids help transfer nutrients, stimulate microbial activity and root and shoot growth and a bunch of other good things.Nice, sounds like a great plan. Firstly, I don't test for pH, ever. I just try and make a good living organic soil that is 'happy', my soil has worms living in it and if they are living in it, then I see the soil as being most likely good for plants too.s a pH of 7.8 way to high for organic soil grow? I've noticed 1 of my plants getting a wee bit pale green on some of the leafs, thought it may of been a nitrogen problem, but turns out my old pH pen wasn't working properly, got new one and my zap water coming in at 7.8! Should of had 2 pH pens.. Its real learning curve this growing craic lol
Ahh I see, well explained thanks..Hey Gaz, No, not related to molasses. Humic/Fulvic acids help transfer nutrients, stimulate microbial activity and root and shoot growth and a bunch of other good things.

I gather from gardeners that use pH testing, that many of the cheap pH testers can be very inaccurate, so if it is a cheap pH pen then maybe 7.8 is not a true reading. If it is a true reading then maybe it does need to be reduced? I also understood that the pH range of soil will naturally fluctuate which would allow the different minerals to presumably be more available as the pH of the soil moves thru the optimal range. But once again, I don't concern myself with pH, I just try to make a happy complete soil.
Sorry Gaz, I missed this one. When u refer to kelp, is that same as seaweed dust? Thanks in advance.
Thanks Stunger, looking forward to seeing your in full flower, u certainty have nice weather in oz for outdoor growing. ...Sorry Gaz, I missed this one.
I was referring to a liquid kelp extract that is sold here, made in Australia (Seasol). I also amend my soil with dry kelp pellets as well, I guess the seaweed dust you mentioned is likely to be fairly similar.
Nice mate. Let the show begin!!Update - Some early budding pics
Greetings 420 enthusiasts!
Just to keep showing proof that there is indeed watching and waiting going on. Here's a pic of a future cola top of each of the girls that I am watching over, longingly!

Thanks Porky, that's how I'm feeling, it's a long wait when you grow outdoors and now they're all starting to kick off!Nice mate. Let the show begin!!
Hey @gazmufc, how you doing, I'm Jon. Following along and saw this from you. For what it's worth, I have both of these products in forms you can likely access in the states - Kelp Me Kelp You from Fox Farms is a liquid kelp extract, and Weed Easy from Blue Planet is a dry, dusty seaweed supplement. In case you're looking for such things for yourself.Sorry Gaz, I missed this one.
