Stihl Logger's Shiney Space Box Full Of Randoms - In Dirt Under CFLs

Wow you sure know how to work those CFLs! I have no idea what's taken me so long to get over here but I'm glad I made it for the finish!

Spent many hours in the dark playing SOCOM!

I think I'm going to enjoy this thread. Hope you don't mind if I game out in the corner over here!

Hey Loggs

Your plants look amazing! I love the fact that you can grow like this without all the highend equipment and products.

I am curious if you have done any training on your plants other than lst?

Keep up the great work!

Eyyy thanks Mittin! How goes it in your world bud? I did alot of training.. Mainly LST but the majority of them were topped at about 4 weeks. A few of them I kinda lost track of and they didnt get topped.. As they grew I trained all the lowers on them to 1 side of the pot and pulled the main top down level with them to the opposite side. I liked how they turned out the last grow when i did this. They kinda looked like a turtle when they were farther along. it was pretty cool. Thanks for stoppin in and stay always curious my friend. Without wonder theres no innovation. :thumb: :high-five:

I love the whole DIY tent and also the DIY light fixture. I am a big fan of garden innovations and DIY.

The one thing I would change in your garden is to add foam under your plant containers or a foam floor for the tent. And foam is pretty inexpensive. Closed cell type, not the couch cushion type. I use a pink folding builders foam. In cold weather the cement can really rob the plant of energy. The soil microflora become sluggish, everything slows down. Plants can droop and nitrogen and other nutrients can lock out.

What most people don't realize is that even in warm weather deep soil is about 55degrees Fahrenheit. So the cement attached to it can still be cold in summer. You may not even notice it is doing something to the plants but it makes them grow more slowly. I bet you notice a difference though. Check out arteekay's first grow journal. He had an extreme version of "concrete floor syndrome".

Thanks for stoppin by Shiggity! really appreciate the input. When this grow started out I didnt really need to worry about the ole concrete floor syndrome.. But now that it has been brought to my attention.. The basement the tent is in is climate controlled and heated.. But... I was recently informed that due to the propane consumption being so high to run the boiler along with the forced air furnace my buddy has now stopped radiant heating. The floor used to be heated.. I had totally forgot about this.. Dammit! Lolz. And it has been about a week since. Ill definitely have to run to the space lab tmw and correct this. Thanks for the look out and keepin me inline my friend! :high-five:

Look at it this way. It means your plants have some untapped potential. So if they look good now...they will look even better!

Im absoloutly 100% with ya on this. I have a piece of this rolll insi that I had left over from the tent build. It has a R6 value. Think it would work if i slid a 4x4 piece of plywood in and put the reflectix on top of that?

I would go more than that. The wood is actually a decent conductor. The cement is abrasive on the reflectix. If I went super cheap I would go wood, then cardboard, then reflectix, then cardboard, then clear plastic to make it water resistant. I had one layer of pink builders foam (as thick as reflectix but made of closed cell foam), and it wasn't enough. I now have two layers in veg and three in flowering for a total of about 1/2" to 3/4".

I am afraid reflectix alone will compress too much and the R value will be lost. The cardboard is corrugated and insulated and would provide more even pressure on the reflectix helping it keep r value under the pots.

Excellent, man thanks! Ill see what I can come up with when I make my bi-daily appearance to the "space lab". I have all kinds of cool shit layin around, Im sure Ill make somethin happen thatll put me back in the right direction. Your input is valuable to me my friend, thank you! :high-five:

p.s I did notice yesterday when I went to feed/water that there wasnt much of a change since the radiant heated floor got nixed. bud building wise.. I was kinda wondering why they werent continuing to almost double in size for the past week.. :loopy:
