Steppenwolf's High Brix Grow

Thanks Wolf for let us get carried away LOL! I am very interested. I know the pots that my plants will end up in are 3.854 Gallons, Though it means I will need to buy more. It beats having to worry about running out of seeds (3) left. I have one Northern Lights regular, one Skywalker OG Kush Feminized, and one Silver LA Feminized. So it's important to me to get clones off of my NL #5 and increase their chance of making it into a perpetual grow so I don't run out of seeds. If you could impart that recipe, I would appreciate it and blog it for further reference for not only myself, but for anyone else interested. Thank you.

Jeff, Here's a good amendment to any soil that'll improve your grow. I have done side by sides with this mix. Exact same clones in soil with minerals and same clones in same soil without minerals. Clones in soil with minerals were significantly bigger, frostier, and healthier. I was also feeding fox farms nutes at the time.

DocBud came up with these addatives, so he deserves the credit.

To a 1.5 cubic foot bag of soil add:
5/8 cup agricultural limestone (not dolomite lime)
1/2 cup soft rock phosphate
1/4 cup gypsum
1/2 cup azomite

The basics of it are to add a 6-5-3 ratio of Limestone-Soft rock Phosphate-Gypsum. The azomite is another great addition. These are all minerals that can be added to any soil and will definitely improve most any soil grow.

I went ahead and placed a seed order tonight. Seeing Doc's columbian gold made me want to grow my own, lol. I got 3 columbian gold coming which as supposed to be pure landrace genetics. I also got another landrace called wild thailand or some shit. It sounded insane. I got another one called afghani kush which is a landrace as well. No use screwing around with strains that are "OK". I want something that is unforgettable...

From the breeder: Columbian Gold

World of Seeds Landraces Columbian Gold is an interesting crossback 25/75 indica/sativa landrace from colombia., giving as a result a mixture of pure lines come from santamarta zone. The history dates tell us that this variety was used by Simon Bolivar in his trips around amazonas, in which he interchanges spices and medicinal plants with natives during his conquests. High, vigorous and branched, its smell is sweet and intense, stands out for its flavour and powerful psychedelic effects. Good Columbian Gold seeds are not that easy to find. According to a linguistics book, "The gold in the name of the cannabis originally described the golden hue of the leaves on the plant, but later came to refer both to the high quality of the marijuana and to the especially high price it commanded.” In the sixties, Columbian Gold marijuana fuelled the North America, $40.00 an ounce, not easy to get your hands on. While using, you will enjoy the smooth smoke steam. The effect of Columbian Gold marijuana is strong psychedelic and last for about 3 hours. We also made it easy for you to grow this marijuana strain indoors. The cannabis seeds are resistance to mould and produce the plants with great big long rounded buds. Flowering time is 9-10 weeks. Usually, THC is 19.3%. But if you are an experienced cannabis grower, you may want to increase the THC percent. Many techniques such as this are used by traditional growers to shock or stress the plant during flowering by cutting through the xylem and phloem layers of the stalk. This supposedly would cut off the flow of nutrients to the plant, leaving the stalks and buds a blanched golden colour at harvest time. In the belief that the plants will respond to stress by producing more of the active (THC-containing) resins responsible for the plants' medicinal potency.

Wild Thailand:
World of Seeds Landraces Wild Thailand is a pure landrace coming from the islands of Ko Chang (Thailand). Wild Thailand is one of the varieties with the highest content in THC of the world. It is loved by Thailand croppers who take it to Bangkok affording the hardest law of this country. Wild Thailand is one of the varieties more productive in Thailand, maybe because of being one genetic variant produced by those expert croppers, because of it, it has a relatively short harvesting time. It's smell and flavour will show you Asia, and it's effects will take you to the mysterious temples of Bangkok. Cannabis seeds can be planted indoors (less than 1,5m high), outdoors or in your greenhouse (up to 3m high). The growing time indoors is 1-2 weeks. Then you can enjoy harvesting the aromatic, sugary, aminoacids and cannabinoids marijuana buds for 75-80 days. If you are an outside farmer, these cannabis seeds will surprise you late November. As Wild Thailand came from a country with quite a mild climate, it's cannabis seeds are highly resistant to mushrooms and plague (depending on the plague). Irrigation tolerance is high. Yield is 350gr/m2 indoor and 450-500gr/m2 outdoor.

Afghani Kush:
World of Seeds Landrace Afghan Kush comes from montainous sistem of Hindu Kush (north of Afganistan).Another pure landrace indica Kush, grows wild in the valleys of Armu Darya , river that border with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It’s a variety very stable (almost 100% indica) and probably has been the fruit of successives crossbacks between wild varieties Kush since the diferents races Kush, grow nearly itself in a geographic zone relatively reduced. Powerfull, smells like the best afgani hashis,we can consider a very valuable like a medicinal chemiotypeis. Afghan Kush cannabis seeds are ideal for indoor growing. She produces a heavy yield with 400gr per m2. She also shows excellent performance when grown outdoors with the yield 500-600gr per m2. It won't take more than 3 weeks before the seed turns into compact cannabis plants that can be successfully cloned. When grown indoors, the height of a plant is not more than 1,5m. The outdoor grower will be enchanted with 2 m high giants of pure indica goodness. Afghan Kush cannabis seeds are quite resistant to mushrooms and plague. Flowering period is 6-8 weeks. Outdoor cannabis grower can start harvesting in October. Afghan Kush marijuana produces massive rounded sticky buds of pure indica, THC is 21.6%. The smell of this cannabis variety is hashish, so popular between cannabis smokers. They describe its flavour as fruity sweet and enjoy its very narcotic powerful effect.

Hopefully you can wade through all the breeders "fluff"

I look forward to seeing your Wild Thai. I have 2 Reg seeds of it. My wife's actually from Thailand so were really excited to try it lol. Everything I've read online about it has been good.

LOL, I've had my eye on both of those! You must have good taste! :thumb:

I'm intrigued by Columbian Gold's relatively short flowering time, and I really really want some Thai to smoke, but I'm going to see how my 14-week Hawaiian Snow goes, before I try another 14-weeker - probably take a crack at a Thai/Skunk first, like award-winning Fruity Thai.

My Colombian Gold is the real deal.....came to me in the form of a seeded bud. 10 weeks? :laughtwo: Not mine....more like 14 weeks.

I do miss that good ol' Columbian buzz - envy your strain! Doc, do you have any recommendations for a Thai? I can do the 14+ weeks if it comes anywhere near the genuine Thai Stick I had 35 years ago. Best smoke I ever had, bar none!

There are different kinds of Thai....generally speaking, start them on 12/12, pinch or supercrop the main stem BEFORE it starts to bloom....maybe with 5 sets of leaves.

Can you elaborate more on this Doc? I understand what you are doing, I have super cropped before due to height limitations. Does pinching the stem cause increased growth and possibly increased bud size? I have never heard to pinch the main stem before.

Nice!!!!!

Bro be sure to make some High Brix hash. I'm usually not all to excited about hash, until I had HB hash, it's a whole new level of wasted.

Thanks bro! I have to get back into the habit of making hash. I used to make dry ice hash, but I quit for a while. I will definitely try to make some HB hash!

Yeah, that wild Thai looked pretty interesting. As soon as those seeds get here, they will be goin in the ground and we can check them out together, lol.

I hope they turn out. I think with Docs kit, they could come out spectacular. I am liking the sound of that Hawaiian snow. Do you have that Hawaiian snow in promix with docs kit? And do you have a journal going yet?

Your Columbian sounds extra special. I am hoping to stumble upon something with these new landrace seeds. Does your Columbian throw bananas late in flower? The plants I have in flower now look better than the first ones. I am super happy with the kit Doc! Growing high brix is awesome.

The Hawaiian Snow is in mineralized Pro-Mix, and it's doing really well! For the past three weeks it's been running between 13 and 18 brix - 14/15 today. It's 59 days old, 9 days since showing pistils, with an estimated 14 week flowering time. It took 5 weeks of 12/12 before it started flowering. I'm hoping it finishes by the end of October, heheh. So far, so good.

I'll be starting a journal as soon as my kit is finished cooking - another week or two!

By "pinching" I mean topping. You can do it as long as you get it really early. You don't want to grow these plants in single cola form! As it is, the plant is completely out of control. It's woven it's way through 3 other plants, like a vine.....smells great, however.

I'm going to say 50/50 it makes it till harvest. I can't let it have an entire tray.

If I was going to merely supercrop it, early on I'd bend the main stem way over, and let the secondary growth take off. It keeps the overall height down.

It's not an indoor plant.....

By pinching you mean topping. That's good. I pinched a bunch of stuff in flower when they were young. I've never seen plants so healthy and respond so quick as these HB plants in the kit. I am a big fan of the pinching.

I am lovin the sound of that Columbian Doc. Sounds like a fun plant. It kinda reminds me of that Willie Nelson you grew that took up a 1000 watter all to itself. I am sure the Columbian seeds I have coming will be different than yours, but I am still excited. Since growing with the kit, I am always excited though. The plants seem to come out very different.

Yeah.....Willie....That plant took up 2 1000 watters...then I kicked it out and put it in the greenhouse. The Colombian will take up one light, no problem. It's already growing up into the glass. Good thing I've got a light mover!

You'll notice in high brix that different characteristics of the plant express themselves. It will smell and taste "different" but will still be familiar...if that makes sense. The terpenes are more complex and as you know the high is different. Plants tend to take on sativa-like traits, getting a bit taller than they would have with regular organics or hydro. They also don't need to be staked as much.

It sure is fun!
