Stanks Go Perpetual In 2018!

OK here is definitely were I need some help...I see a plant still throwing loads of white hairs...In my mind, she still has a ways to go...what made you decide to go pure rain water at this point?

I have made my soil to get me from seedling to harvest on rain water or ACT only. Its essentially a super soil, with everything in it that the plant needs.

I do a couple top dressings at different points to rev up the bio-activity at what I feel are key points for increasing my growth and yields. Aside from that, and occasionally some Cal Mag if I have a plant that has unusually high demands, I do rain water only the whole grow.

ATF (Stank Genetics) Veg Day 98

Alrighty, I know its been a long while since I have done any updates on her so we are long overdue! This one is an interesting one. I kind of shoved her into the veg tent and forgot about doing anything training wise on her for a bit. After a while I figured why bother now....I don't have the room to train her out sideways so I will let her go.

I didn't think it would take this long to get the outlets set up and the big tent set up so I didn't intend to let her get this out of control. Now we are at a point I don't want to do anything because she is like a train wreck that you can't your eyes off. I have no clue where she is going to grow height wise but I want to see what she does. So the plan will be to keep vegging her until I get the big tent up. Once we have the big tent up and running, i will up pot her to a 10 gallon (don't ask me why......I am a masochist I guess) and then flip. She is going to grow through the lights so I intend to position her to grow between the two Spydrx Plus lights that will be on movers in there and hope for the best.

Now that we have the plan and sit-sum out of the way, lets talk about her! She's been a breeze to grow and despite my best attempt to keep her in a solo cup as long as I could, and then half gallon pots for as long as I could, she is growing out of the tents. She's been incredibly healthy. She has had a very deep purple stem since she was a seedling and its getting really cool looking. Her growth rate has been much higher than I wanted for the situation but I can't help but to be pleased...especially since this is one of our ATF seeds (which I will continue to work over time....essentially becoming our IBL). I love the deep green on the leaves and the purple stem combo.

The last two pictures show you the height issue we are going to be battling. She is currently over 5' tall from the floor and her top is about 3" under the height of the light. I have been running her off the side for the last week so she doesn't get roasted by the lights.

Stankberry #2 Veg Day 92

First up is a girl we haven't done an update on in a while as well. She got shoved right next the ATF and has been left alone for a couple weeks. She's getting a bit out of hand height wise because I know what the Stankberry does when I turn it loose. You can compare where she comes up to against the grow tent with the ATF in the previous update to see how tall she is.

What the plan is with her to up pot her and train her outwards a bit before flipping and hoping for the best. I would have trained her laterally if I had room in the tent but that wasn't an option so will make adjustments as we need them. Ain't it fun!

Gave this girl a healthy dose of rainwater and shoved her back in the cage for another week or so. As soon as the big tent is up, we will up pot and flip her (She is in a 2 gallon currently and we will up pot to a 7 or 8 gallon pot most likely. She hasn't fully outgrown her leaf deformity, but you can tell it kind of fades as the leaves get bigger. All in all very happy with this girl

Stankberry #3 Veg Day 92

Here is the girl you all have seen the updates on. I started spreading her out wider back when she was in the smaller tent and she still outgrew that tent. I now have her on top of my work table under the T5. I moved her there to hopefully slow her down a bit. The temps there never get over 66 degrees. Seems like she has slowed down a bit the last week.

She is really a wide girl since I started growing her laterally. I may veg her longer to see how wide I can make her. This is definitely a strain I could see trying to use to grow our upside down plant. She is in a 3 gallon pot as opposed to the 2 gallon that the other Stankberry is in. I will take a clone off this one for an attempt at making some F2s and see how the phenos start expressing themselves. I may take a clone off of Stankberry 2 as well and hit them both and see what differences might arise.

And here is a side by side comparison of the two plants

African Meltdown 1.1 Flip Day 32

We are approaching the halfway point on this girl. I have learned that the Meltdown doesn't like the flower top dressing as it burns her. It must be the landrace in her Mozambique strain that is a light feeder. I won't be top dressing her in flower on future runs to see how she is reacts.

I really don't know what it is that is burning her. I only added half a cup of EWC, half a cup of Kelp meal and some gypsum, basalt and glacial rock dust. None of any of the other strains or plants I have grown have reacted this way to that top dressing. Well she spoke, so I will listen.

Anyways she is really frosting up nicely and beginning to add a little size to her buds. She got the same smell she had the previous grow. She will be getting a drink of rainwater tomorrow most likely.

She does want to start up again here soon with a couple possibilities....DDA being one that she is very interested in growing along with Master Kush (Supposed to be great at brain issues and we have one friend and one cousin who are battling brain cancer/tumors and we are supplying them with their meds while they go through this). I know there are a few other strains she has been eyeing as well.

Master Kush has been on my to grow list for a while now. I remember watching an interview with the lead singer for Disturbed and they asked him what gave him his ideas for song writing and he said Master Kush opened his mind in ways that allowed him to access the creative part of his brain that he normally couldn't. I love strains that make me think in a totally different way.

The Meltdown looks amazing! Somehow I came across a sample of the African Meltdown and it is truly special. She's potent and just makes me feel so damn good. This would be the perfect strain for going to a concert. Music is rediscovered while partaking in this strain. I had a buzz from head to toe that wasn't indica couchlock but more like being plugged in electrically. The taste reminds me a lot of Malawi, I knew after the 1st hit I'd tasted something very similar before. It's got an oily woody taste with a sweet undertone. It was a great ride with nice staying power. I look forward to running this gem in the future.

They all like awesome, that ATF is my fav though. Nice Christmas tree shape to her.
Thanks Penny, appreciate it brother. I can't bring myself to top her at this point. Just gonna hold on and see where it takes us!

A trick Ive used when hanging lights is to put key rings through the hanging holes and connecting the ratchet hangers to those...gains you another 6" or so.
Great Idea Mouser, hadn't thought of that one.....it will certainly work with the two cheap LEDs in the veg tent! Thank you bud!

Great info on the Master Kush. We have two breeders versions....Nirvana and White Label. I think we will grow Nirvanas version first. We haven't grown anything from Nirvana yet so its a good excuse to pick that one!

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your Meltdown. Great description as well on the high. Cheers brother!

Oh yea... I need some of that African Meltdown... beautiful plant and beautiful high from what you say @Van Stank .
IDK why I wasn't already following you, but I am now! Thanks you for getting me over here, I have a lot to look at!
Hey Daj! welcome! Glad to have here. Let us know if you have any questions....cheers!

Holy excrements ... africa just got a load of snowcrystals

DTF #4 Flip Day 34

Starting today off with our own DTF strain. I am estimating that we are a touch over half way done with this girl. She is really turning out nicely and I took a few pics of her to show you what she looks like in the tent and outside. She is bulking up nicely and looks like she is going to be on the easier side to trim when she is done.

We gave her a big drink of rain water today. Still not really throwing out a lot of strong smells so that would be our only complaint with her at this point. She has been a breeze to grow with virtually no stretch to her at all which surprises me.
