Hey Spookie,, whats the thoughts about that 1000 gallon pot.. Is one or two of them instore? Pot grown from seed throw out a tap root out that goes down as far as 4'if it needs to looking for water, that is if the soil will let the root go that deep. Most soils aren't vey welcoming at that depth 90% of the action is in the top 16", least should be in a well watered and fed garden. A question? Whats your native soil like? The stuff out back.. Is it bad and that's why the smart pot? Cuz I don't think your using them so you can drag them around the yard for better sun and bringing em in at night?? If you are,, I pity the fool that gets caught taking your plants.. But it's going to cost a pretty penny to fill acouple of them pots with anything decent with some goodies in it.. Unless you know a place wholesaling planting mix. But you could get the garden tiller out and start working some air and peat moss into your soil and then some longer term amendments. Stuff that will last acouple season. You can get things like soft rock phosphate, blood/bone meals k-mag bat and worm crap and 3 or 4 others and you got fertilizer for the whole year and the next and next as long as you baby your microbial critters with treas, things like a good coarse crushed bone meal takes around 3-4 years to totaly disappear supplying calcium and makes great food from the Mykos As does most organics.. That rock phosphate takes about a month before it starts to become avaable as a flower fertilizer, and lasts acouple years. My babbling is trying to say,, why not till in the amemendments you bought with the monies you saved from the pots and the soil to fill them.. But then I know if I was you,, I'd haave my own vision of wahts what.. I wish the best for ya.. Maybe start with a smaller pot like a 10 gallon,, just to see if it flies? But GL I sure wanna see you get a harvest in this time even a larger than the others and Keepem Green

If I get from manufacturer or amazon there is limitless left. People buy these buy the 10's I assume. Or similar sizes at least. Our soil here is generally low in phosphates as primary problem. Also water is limiting factor for growth in our gardens. I have good soil in the spot from last season I am going to top up with my special horse soil and use same spot as before. Smart Pot(s) is going on concrete there nice and close to backdoor.

The soil to fill up Smart Pots is going to take a trailer probably larger than your run of the mill one. To pay for this would be unfeasible. I'm stoked because if you did you would want some premade soil specially for cannabis that would be very expensive as I'm sure you know. I have contact with racing horse stables. The poo is on tap. The reason for Smart Pots is to showcase this soil and use it exclusively without the roots running into and searching through normal quality soil wasting energy and picking up shitty taste. The Smart Pots will air prune the roots when they reach the end of their high quality horse soil mix.

Cant you just buy some filter cloth and make your own smart pots

I had considered this but I have trust that this is all they basically are and the main company in Smart Pot industry should be able to deliver a good value product in this regard. Ie purchasing and buying the cloth to sell to me in appropriate bulk to reduce price.

Spookies do you use mycorrhizae?

Yes I swear by it the brand is Great White.

Might be better off removing soil from the ground and back filling with the hot soil

Something like that for previous in ground spots!

Jesus they are really trying to screw you on that shipping.. sounds like they are making money off you in two different ways. Thats why i use amazon prime so i dont get shipping costs or have to wait a week or so if my items can be shipped for free. I live in the us too so i usually get everything fast but im impatient when ordering stuff online and want it at my door the next day lol

One of our friendly associates has offered to ship this for me. He is calling Amazon today to get package dimensions. This is unbelievably kind of sizz0e. So much respect.

Try make your Own spooks!

Haha I've seen it done well.

Hahahah I'm loving the Raw life bought 3 more packs today with filters. Best papers ever they kicked it up a notch. I didn't know they were from Cali even better!

Hey spooks! Sorry i wasnt around, busy at work mhmm. But did you order your last seed's yet? How about the Locomotion? ;)

Ok DanksterFarm you were not forgotten. Seed order has changed to shipped. Locomotion was a complete debacle. They had sold out while I procrastinated on order screwing around. And I thought great they are gone forever. Then I came on here and Feral told me that Subcool had just tweeted that he was releasing batch of locomotion and will hit online retailers in a few weeks. I will order then lol. 10 pack was only thing available I will wait till single bean is available in a little bit no rush.

Thank you all for your support on this adventure I hope I have clarified any very helpful questions.

Just a thought, if it gets hot around there,, you could bake your root system putting a smart pot on the concrete. I'm not sure if a pot that size wood stay cool,, but I've got alot of concrete out back and I have to put 2X4's under my pots to keepem cool.. Now I've never used a 'big' smart pot,, and it might be big enough to stay cool, but I know smaller pots will bake in the heat generated by concrete. You might want to put it on a pallet or something? Once you fill that damn thing,, you sure ain't moving it.. Keepem Green

Yeah I had a laugh when you said if you can move that thing inside and out I pity the fool that tries to steal your plants. Thanks for the tip. Pallets are basically free so I should grab 4 and put them together! Extra height means earlier/later sun over fences. Cheers Norcaliwood!

Pretty excited about trying this new watermelon strain. It cracked open perfect timing. Photo of it on vine too big to upload. Can show through long upload method if anyone interested. This is how I prepare them for juice. For spliffs lol.

Cloth in bowl. Cutting up gave me preview of juice. Was a deeper sweet earthier in a good way hard to describe. Way less volume then normal candy reds I use normally.

Really pours out and blends easy. Don't over blend or bruise just 5 second whiz on lowest and it's liquid.

This is companion growing at its finest. Cloth and low blending makes for best juice and allows you to keep seeds. Thanks everyone time to roll a spliff and enjoy this.

I was just reading your journal and was pretty stunned by $140 dollars worth of dirt just to fill up small pots. I was going to suggest you find a friend with horses and get the poo on tap. I was on your thread and didn't want to sound pious so I didn't say anything but you asked here specifically. That's what I do my friend raises racing horses some are worth 70k etc they have food budget of $17 a day in grains molasses etc best quality food a horse could dream of. I have organised to fill with mostly this (for free provided I return favour when I'm done) and some additives (clay balls etc).

It really just leaves the cost of nutrients. I'd dig massive holes like before but but the reasoning for this was previously discussed I'll quote it and post below.

Pennywise I'm smoking the crap out of the branch that was left in the rain it has a unique taste it has no terpenes all washed away very little chlorophyll either. Hard to describe not at all unpleasant. Not harsh.

Lucked out there Spooks, enjoy your Agent orange!
