Sponsored Grow: Krip Keepers Frost Fest Featuring Mars SP-250 In Mars 4' x 4' Tent

Really sorry to hear about your friend! That's a tragic loss. Thoughts and prayers for his family and friends.
My thoughts exactly.......extremely tragic. Every day counts for all of us.

When I started coming around these forums you were one of the brixers that really got me motivated to get off my ass and grow. You are a beast in the garden Krip! Can't wait to see you bring that silly frost back.

QUICK UPDATE

First, many thanks for all the condolences on my Bro who passed a couple of weeks ago. :thanks:

I'll get some pics up over the weekend but things are starting to come around and I think I know what the issue is/was and I don't believe it's the water. I think, when I mixed up my last two batches of 3rd run soil, I put in way to much 3rd Run Amendment and it was burning the plants.

I knew there was an issue with the first batch, so basically had dumped what I had left of that in one of my raised beds (mixed with a bunch more compost & perlite. But, I was still using that 2nd batch of 3rd run soil which was also over-amended.

So, the good news is, I'm pretty sure I have that figured out and it won't be a mistake I make again! The bad news is that I still had about 20 gallons of that soil left and mixed it 50/50 with some first run soil when I up-potted the four plants in the main tent.

That being said, the two Pineapple Express and the White Strawberries are looking much better. The WS is actually looking pretty "Brixy" and just has some slightly yellow tips. That Platinum Cake still has a way to go before I'm happy with her.

The growth has been pretty slow so it will likely be another two weeks before I flip them to 12/12 and, by then, I hope to have them all "worthy".

I'll also post some pics of the two Dark Devil Autos in the small tent which are both looking great but both are significantly shorter than I would have liked and I don't expect much for yield. Their next feeding will be CAT drenches.

Happy Harvests!

PIC UPDATE

Finally got a chance to get a few pics of the girls.

Let's get the Platinum Cake out of the way, first. If you recall, I had culled the PCake very early because it just wasn't a healthy plant. Several of the main cola branches were weak and just snapped off at the base. I put it back in the main tent when the others died hoping I could get it healthy before flower, but it just doesn't look like it's going to happen. This plant is a real mess and I just can't see trying to drag her through a harvest. As embarassing as this one is to even show, here's what she looks like:

So, I'm likely going to cull this one a second time and replace her with the Chem '91 which is still in a 4" container and not even close to being mature as the others, but I'd rather get less yield from a healthy plant than trying to put that PCake in flower.

In the mean time, the other three plants in the main tent have made a great recovery and are starting to look good, though, they're still pretty short due to the LST'ing when I up-potted so I think another 2 weeks, or so, before I flip which would give the Chem '91 a chance to catch up a little if I get that up-potted ASAP.

Here's Pineapple Express #1 (back/left of the tent):

Here's Pineapple Express #2 (front/left of the tent):

And, here's that "Brixy-Looking" White Strawberries (back/right of the tent). You can see she's starting to put out some 9-fingered leaves, now:

And, finally, I have those two Dark Devil Autos in the small tent that are both under a single Mars Reflector 144 and, since things have been so slow with the main grow, I thought I'd include a couple of pics of those here, too.

They're looking really nice, although, somewhat small single cola plants, and I'm probably a little overdue for the CAT drenches.

Here's one of the two DDA's, which gives you an idea of the height & shape of both:

Here are close-ups of the two plants that give a better view of the bud development, color, and trichome coverage:

That's about it, for now. I'm going to try to swap out that PCake for the C91 today and will get some pics of the C91 once that's done.

Happy Harvests!

Great day to ya Krip. Just heard about your bud....very sorry to hear of your loss.
With your plant/soil issues,...To me it sounds like a new/fresh start is in order,... with a new bale of PM HP, approx. 600 grams , first run amendment and 30 pounds of EWC's. You know all that , i know..... :passitleft:.maybe even try a grow , from start to finish using nothing but 'distilled' water,...just to try for a grow..
Enjoy your day Krip... :high-five:

I was just talking with Doc earlier today about how much 1st run amendment to add to a batch of used 1st run soil. I had about 60 gallons I needed to amend. I was pressed for time and had to get it done before I ever heard anything. I ended up putting too much in there. I put a pound and a half in and Doc ended up recommending 1 pound. I told him how much I had put in and asked about the effects. He said I might have issues early on like you experienced here. But recommended I just flush the pot of soil good before I plant in it. Not sure if this same strategy would work for you here but food for thought anyway.

Thanks, Bro! I used up the last of my two batches of 3rd run soil and do realize that the flushing would have helped, but I didn't figure out what happened until I had already used it up and lost several plants along the way.

When it first started happening with the plants I had put into the breeding cabinet, I suspected it was a problem with the 3rd run soil and mentioned it in my other journal, but wrote it off to the fact that I was also feeding some Fox Farm nutes and not running Doc's kit on those plants because they were Bonsais and there can be issues with the Kit in containers smaller than #7's (although, I have the two DDA's in #5's running the kit and they're pretty happy!).

QUICK UPDATE

So, when I made the post on Sunday about swapping out that sick Platinum Cake and took a good look at the pictures, I basically convinced myself it was the right thing to do, so I put that small Chem '91 in her place. You'll notice the difference in maturity but I have her topped for four main colas (Uncle Ben's Topping) and once she goes into flower, I expect to see those four main colas to be the same size, or taller, than the other plants but she just won't be as "bushy".

Here's the group shot:

And some bonus pics of the two DDA's in the small tent under the Reflector 144:

I sure wish there were more colas on those DDA's! With those single colas it limits the yield and the cool bud pics!

A COUPLE MORE DDA PICS

The two Dark Devil Autos got their first CAT drench yesterday. I don't know if there's much of a change but I love the color of these buds so it's gonna be tough not to post frequent pics of these:

PIC UPDATE - ANOTHER 2 WEEKS TO FLIP

I think I can go another two weeks before needing to flip these girls which will give some more time for the Chem '91 to catch up and fill out some more. All the girls are looking healthy (what a nice change! :yahoo:) and here are some pics from this morning...

QUICK PIC UPDATE

There's not much new to report. The girls are all still vegging and I'm going to give them at least one more week, maybe even two. The Chem '91 is starting to catch up and fill out a little and, as much as I need a quick harvest, I think it will be worth the extra week of veg time.

Here's the group pic:

This is a close-up of the Chem '91:

These are the two Pineapple Express plants:

Sorry, I didn't take a close-up of the White Strawberries, but she's doing fine, too.

I did give the two Dark Devil Autos their 2nd CAT drench today and they're both looking good and just a couple/few weeks from harvest, I think.

Here are a few DDA bud shots:
