Spimps 2013 1st Grow - Ghetto Micro

Need some help guys... I have looked through close to every article I can find on here and I cant find a pictoral of harvest. Ive read all the how to threads, used the search forums function, you name it-Ive tried it. I know its somewhat self explanatory but the last thing I want to do is F this up at harvest. A nice couple of pics showing what to trim would be awesome...

:helpsmilie: :bitingnails:

this is really the easier part, i would worry more about the drying/curing process because you dont want your bud to taste moldy or wet.

both trimming and curing processes are very easy when i first started growing i learned from youtube videos.

Ive read all the curing drying threads too. Constant airflow but not direct fan on them, snapping the stems, burbing the jar, etc. That is easily comprended through reading. :reading420magazine:
I have more specific Q's about stuff like Which are the sugar leaves? I assume the little guys poking our from the buds. And the fans are the more developed, often stemmed leaves? And why do I trim the sugar leaves flush if they are covered in trics just like the bud? For prettier nugs? I may make some ice hash but id rather smoke them trics in my bong...

you always trim fan leaf steams down to the bud as much as possible, pulling it outwords from the nug/upwards off the nug will bring bud off with the fan. (easier with scissors that are small/compact.)

and any sugar leaves protruding out of the bud you just trim them as close to the bud as possible, the THC doesnt reach them like it reaches the nugs.
the taste of a sugar leaf would be harsh and taste like plant matter, unfavorable to smoke and you WANT to trim off even the nicest looking sugar leaves. (maybe laying up really close to a nug.)

not only does it add to bag appeal but its unfavorable smoke. just dry it and throw it in an isopropyl alcohol rub and makes yourself a nice hash-ish ?

Maybe cook the hash-ish into some nice brownies ? (thats what i do)

That sums it up real nice. You really can't go that wrong. Some people prefer to leave a little more leaf on because they don't make butter/hash etc. and prefer to smoke as much of it as possible even if it is a little harsher. Some people get really particular and try to get as close to all bud as possible. Some trim before they dry, some after they dry and some do a combination before and after trim.

It really comes down to the way you want to do it. I bet even if you didn't trim any leaves and offered it to your friends they won't turn it down and they still will say it was some killer smoke :)

Good luck!

"Some trim before they dry, some after they dry and some do a combination before and after trim."

from preference i would trim after it dries, alot of wet bud is messy work.

and i like to dry with the bud on branches still, they say the resin in the bud is better that way so why
not want to keep all the leaf on till its dry.

This is probably the bet desriptionof harvest I have seen. Not pics, but good enough. ;) TY SIR. And I probably will hafta make some form of hash... my older girl doesnt have too many leaves but the ones there are covered in trics, but the youngest that has more buds has a ton of leaves so Ill probably just trim em both and see if I cant Hash it out... :)
As far as the THC content of sugar leaves, my uderstanding is that the trics produce the THC. With the youngest, the buds are covered but the leaves not so much so trimming them is a no brainer. But my oldest is covered in trics. If i had a decent camera and not just my android, I could post a pretty impressive pic or two. I mean they are standing tall, elbow to elbow, damn near cant see green!! lol So that was kinda why I wanted to smoke em! But I think Im gonna follow the advice (for once) and trim em all nice and pretty for their final photo shoot...
And I got a few more ambers today. Still at around 1% i guess. I kinda assume when I look through my loop that I can see roughly 100, so until I got 20 or more visable through a single 'loop look' Im gonna hold off on cutting. The girls are drinking like crazy! Ive been going straight PH'd water with light molasses to let them use up the goodness thats still in the soil...:MoreNutes:

I relize every strain is different, but can someone just rough guesstimate how long before I got 25% amber? 2 weeks? 2 months? 2 days? I gotta get my ghetto drying rig ready lol

they only actually Flower for a 8-9 week period longer 10-12 weeks sometimes for sativa dominant strains,
i would say that you will have the desired amount of amber in about two weeks.

and yeah just trim them properly, that way you know how from now on. and you can have pretty pics for the journal :nomo:

i definetly would have posted trim pictures, shit i would love to be doing some trimming myself.

Also i have been wondering about the look of a plant myself, i have two white widow plants that look different and the orange bud looks like one of the white widow ? i just dont know if its genetics or phenotype ?

I can be of no help on phenos and genetics... not yet anyway. :) :reading420:
+reps for the info sir
Since I have a few ambers, do you think the no more nutes policy is proper? All i have to feed them would be FF tiger B...

well I'm late but from what I have read and saw you have done nice Spimp
harvest is pretty much as easy or hard as you make it. I guess you need to know how you are going to dry it before you trim anything
if your going to hang the buds then a good thing to do is leave a Y in the stem(natural hook) and if you are going to dry on a rack then just the tops themselves would be fine.
as far as trimming goes try to just remove the fans and any large sugar leaves but save it all. some folks leave alittle bit of the sugar leaves and thats ok too. just depends on if you are trying to win a contest or not on how tight you trim LOL. I don't have a problem with smoking a ugly bud at all. I know I just wasted your time reading this so Just put a favorite bunch a tunes on and think make tree like in the karate kid:)

^^ ty vm sir. I started off hell bent on killing them girls with love, and you guys educated me and are helping me get em home! Without people like you and this community I would have a story of two dead girls, instead of dreaming of a jar full of nugs! :thanks:

And I plan on hanging on a string, in a sealed cardboard box with intake and exhaust fans. Im probably gonna do the trim on the plant thing cause I like the pics of naked girls with thier goodies showing! ;) Then Ill hang em to dry.

I need to get a camera already...

I kinda need to water so if anyone could help me with the nute/no nute question that would be awesome!

46 days since 12/12
Since I have 1% amber, and Im going to pull idealy at 25-30%, should they be on plain water, or water plus FF tigerB?

:thanks: :420: :thanks:

molasses and water. that would be all I would give.
but I aint know expert either. just what I would do:)

Awesome thanks guys!! the nutes are done for these girls! I was leaning that way but I will happily listen to your advice! That means Im officially in the final countdown! Ill save the nutes for my next project, got some auto beans just aching to jump in some pots! :green_heart:

:thanks::thanks:

So excited!! I just accidentally bumped one of the buds while watering an the aroma was amazing... sweet buttery dank. Im checking the trics twice a day! I think tonight Ill start cooling the box off at night and see if we cant get some colors on these ladies.. My mom is an old school hippie and has no idea i have a surprise for her. Im hoping if i give her a quality hg nug, she will let me stealth an auto on her 10 acres. Maybe Ill invite her up for a little quality pruning time. :)

Im interested in the coconut sugar although the carbs in molasses hafta be more than coconut... maybe coconut milk??

I like to try to give the girls what they need through organics,
but yeah i would just go ahead with molasses and water like fishy says.

this is my first time using it but its promising, not that im not tempted to get some super thrive and nutrients...
anyways maybe next time around i'll go the distance
