Solar Son's 4x4 600 Watt MH/HPS Soiless: Jamaican Dream, Seed To Bud

Update:

The update about the update LoL
It has been a very tiring and long week (if you like peek my long read.in my signature regarding my experience of legalization while being a medical paitient it can help explain the last day or so)

I'll post pictures and an info update tomorrow. I want to give the girls another 8 hours and post a few pictures in one update showing the progress!!!

Plus..... There are.grow journals that need reading that I have grown addicting to reading to expand my knowledge and help/share advice when and where I can)

I agree. Very organized looking, very clinical.

Thank you for the kind words. !!!!!

This was taken from another member here who led me on to planting tap root up

That’s a great reference picture and holds true !

Love it! The sharing of information, and let the green grass grow all around all around let the green grass grow all around!

I planted tap up, but deeper then the reference. Makes sense now on the extra day I know ticked my ladies took over other journals/videos that I see going tap down.

I will keep tap’n my ladies UP, but closer to the surface..... lol had a bad reference joke there.... omitting for censorship :ganjamon:

I am not offended, so no need to censor, ask the other ladies.:)
The tap root up or down is an ongoing forever discussion.
The up made more sence to me, allthough some stand by the tap down theory.

Monday, Nov. 5th Seedling Day 4
Firstly, I apologize for the delays in update. I had promised one the other day but have been dealing with a crisis in the family and have been well I have seen better days.

I plan on doing one update a week and not spam my journal everytime a leaf blows in the artificial wind :p

I am not going to lie, and make up fake BS notes, with my current situation my note taking has taken a step back. The ladies have provided more therapeutic help in that it feels like a nice sunny day in the tent and I just hang out listen to some tunes and unwind truly magical.

I have made some tweaks to the environment and am thinking they are going to start to take off in a few days.

Debatable many people are saying no nutes until the 3rd node, and I respect that you are all seasoned growers. I agree especially with the FFOF being higher in nutes so much so some say it runs "hot" that nutes at this point would not provide much more then possibly some burn and issues.

That being said, Voodoo Juice is not a nutrient, but a supliment. From my reading it is very beneficial to get a healthy root ball going. People have stated they use during seedling stage and it assists greatly. I am on the fence of adding the Voodoo Juice next time I do a watering. It will start a microbes culture up and assist in development.

In the name of science I am going to be picking 2 of the ladies for the Voodoo Juice treatment. I shall be picking one girl from the first group of 3 to break ground and one from the second (wait did I say my note taking was off? Apparently my memory is better then I thought).

This will allow me to see the pros and cons of an early dose of Voodoo Juice. I have also decided that for future runs (can not afford it this run). I will be utilizing prihana as well as tarantula from the AN line to beef up root health and mass. I feel it is just as important to nurture what is below the ground so that above can flourish. The nutrient line I have chosen does not have thier root excellerator available in Canada at this time
I hope that changes my OCD would love to have my nutes all from the same line.

So, we have all girls in solo cups still. The mini domes where removed last Thursday when all of the girls sprouted if I recall correctly. I have been maintaining humidity levels in the 80-90 range until the coty was fully open and the first set of true leaves were on the way. I have slowly lowered the humidity down between 50-60 it has dropped into the high 40s but I resolve once I notice.

I had the T5 just a few inches above the "canopy" (if you can call it that at this point) they were growing so fast and reaching even at such a low level that I was moving the light every 6 hours or so. I was disliking this stretch. All ladies save 2 were perfect in my eyes (these will not be selected as part of my VooDoo group). These last two were reaching outward away from the others twoard the wall of the tent. These where both in the front row on the outside. I was curious as to why... If the light was too low and or powerful the other ladies should display this as well.... Hmmm I had noticed with cooler external temperatures that my environment was dipping into the low 20s.

That triggered an idea. My 600w MH increases between 5-10* in environmental temperature depending on what setting the ballast is firing.
I decided yesterday that I would bring in the MH and run it at 50% power and monitor closely, hanging it an an optimal higher for par distribution (I forget the acronym lol I read an article here on 420 regarding this) it was at 18".

I sat and relaxed, had a nice glass of juice and smoked some chemdawg (that had been gifted to me by a new friend, my FIRST legal gift of flower since prohibition 2.0) this was a nice relaxing time, then my brain went off into left field as the chemdawg set in
"yO dood, what if the Jamaican ladies smell the chemdawg and take me as a canible, I could be screwing myself by scaring them" hahah oh how the mind works sometimes.... Now back to the grow.

I noticed the temp hit 25*, I sat in anticipation, "please don't go much higher". I have yet to acquire my 6" inline it'll blow 420ish CFM should turn the air 4* a minute I think.
I opened up the side inlet and rigged it up to my oscillating fan and pointed it between the canopy and the ladies in an upward direction actually pointing at a vent in the ceiling of the tent.

While doing this I researched Jamaican climate. They are northern and western hemisphere so they plant April/may and grow throughout the summer. This being a Jamaican landrace I figured mimic the temps and I am good.
So it's actually 25-30*c during those months and my temps are good at 300w (50% power) next week the fan will be in and I will start to ramp up to 75% then 100%

Last night before bed, I topped up the solo cups loosely with some FFOF supporting the stems in thier reach. I watered them until slight runoff the bottom of the solo and fluffed the upper layer of soil to prevent gnats (heard this tip from a YouTube growing) I also enjoy "working" the soil I dunno why. Also how I like to first thing in the morning go for a "walk through the dew peppered forest" aka a slight mist on the ladies, and then after a few minutes I slightly tap the stem to remove any "dew" (don't worry it's declorinated tap water that PH's to 6.7)

I plan on feeding after the 3rd node (but I will be having my 2 VooDoo group for science, they will get that in 2-3 days when I give another watering) The non VooDoo group will recieved thier first VooDoo once the 3rd set of true leaves appear, the water prior to the first feed.

Here are some pictures, I think that about sums everything up to date!!!!

Feed back, suggestions and banter all welcome!

Didn't have the newest pictures in my gallery at writing. Here are a few others.

I will be doing my weekly update here, but you can also catch me on Instagram doing updates daily/every other day or so with just tidbits n what have you....

Posted it in the wrong thread, sry.
It says coco but with soil, the idea is the same

Thinking of going this route, by the time I uppot to 7 gal I will be regularly feeding. I will not need as much of the FFOF doing the feeding and more so a living environment for the roots.

That being said I can see this as a money saver :)

As well as collect banana peels....
Boil them, let water cool off.. Water ladies
When they go to bloom
eggshells....
Emilya has an excellent cal mag tut on eggshells and vinegar...

Good Day Everyone!!!

Welcome one and welcome all.

Just a quick little update. All the ladies have 4th sets of true leaves (muwahahahahhaah well all but one) sprouting up.

Sometime inside me kept saying, top top top, do that pinch top technique from YouTube (sorry YouTube growers, I forget who it was that was spreading the good word)

So with JD#1 growing the quickest and showing the 4th shoots the most I went with it..... Well not quite like that.

I was checking out the girls... And I was gently spreading the 3rd set of leaves away from the new growth.... And then it just happened next thing I was pinching and a quick twist and we were done.

She looked sad, but as I peek through the side vent now I can see she is already perking up!!!
