SoilGirl's Indoor Organic Soil Medical Grow Journal - Mars II 1600 & Other LEDs

Great update SG things are looking great. Nice training, I'm afraid I broke one of my Mainline tips (ah sh#t) taped up but will see how it goes.

keep up with the great updates.

SBG
Aw Dang SBG, I'm sorry to hear that, but it happens to the best of us.... and me a lot. lol. :passitleft:

Thank you for the kind words, I'll try to keep the good updates coming haha :)

Good Job SoilGirl,

I love the copper training rods. I need to get some of those. I have used twine so far, but I think I would prefer your route.

While messing with my seeds, I dumped Seed#1 on her head, and buried her in the container by accident. Luckily she was wrapped up in wet moss and when I undid the mess, she was fine. No apparent damage.

Oh, and good luck on the social adventure... Everyone needs to feel special, and you deserve it... Go enjoy the date and be yourself.
Hahaha I can thank my dad for the copper wire - I don't think he knows I'm using it lol. Oh well, he wasn't. ;)

So glad your seed is ok! ...Yeah I've found out seedling's resilience first hand, I snapped the tap root of the original mother BBK (my current BBK is a 2nd gen clone off her) while I was putting it in soil hahaha... I was ready to give up on it, but the next day it was coming out of the soil a little bit. And I mean, I snapped the taproot in half lol, it wasn't near the tip. Then the day after, it was Alive!! Couldn't believe it. :slide: I'm sure little Blue Blood will be ok.

Aw thank you! I'm excited for it, we've been texting a lot haha... Friday... :dreamy:
You reminded me that we have a quantity of bonsai wire in different thicknesses packed away somewhere. At some point that may come in handy. I do want to grow a plant I need to train at some point. The entire process fascinates me.

Looking good SoilGirl. Love the mulch porn.:thumb:
Thanks Sue! And I'm glad I reminded you :) I really love the training process, I'm a control freak lol so its right up my alley. Photo plants really have their perks. I still would like to try some autos eventually though - just to see. ;) but I doubt I will ever make a leap from mainly photo-growing to mainly auto-growing. Photos are just... great.
SoilGirl...your thread is like a rocking holiday party....so much good cheer & fun stuff. Ditto Kraevyn & the date. Happy to hear things on the upswing for you.:passitleft:
Aw thanks bright!! I've really been in high spirits lately, getting a short vacation then coming back with my mom, and my sister just got here tonight! We just sat down for a LOVELY homemade spaghetti dinner - made by yours truly. It's really nice to have the family back together at dinner. AND getting asked out... :laughtwo: How cool!

I hope you're doing well my friend, I know your plants are!
Man I missed a lot of stuff around here. I just saw this grow in your sig and don't think I've been by yet, so I figured I'd stop in and say hi and see how things were going.

Looks great so far, I love the mulching you got going on!
Thank you Ants and welcome! No problem haha. You're getting here just in time for the upswing. ;) and hahaha I'm glad you liked that sexy mulch.

:ciao:

Thank you Corgie and Jaga! Yeah it's starting to keep me busy tending to all the plants :) just the way I like it.

Time to Start Cloning!

So today when I woke up and went into the veg room I found 3 lovely cuttings just waiting to be taken, the first round of indoor clones this grow. 2 lower cuttings from CK#1, and one beautiful topped cutting from Ghost OG. Here they all are at the finish.

PB2600012.JPG

First off I scrubbed the ghetto fabulous clone dome out (my last batch of clones got attacked by mites >.<) and got to work.

Here's how Ghost OG looked the other day.

PB240012.JPG

Now without the scraggly top I will be able to much more effectively train this momma plant, AND get the bonus of an already topped cutting (as long as it roots)...

PB2600031.JPG

To help the rooting process I use Dip 'N Gro rooting concentrate, diluted 20x in regular old tap water. I also scrape one side of the stem gently with a sharp blade down where I want roots to come out... then I dip it in the diluted solution for 5 seconds, and into some soaked rockwool.

I also pinch the rockwool up against the stem once it is in so that it definitely is making contact, this may not be necessary, but I've noticed better results for myself personally when doing this.

So, one down, two to go. Here's CK#1 the other day, so you can see where I took cuttings from. They were the lowest 2 nodes still growing.

PB2500011.JPG
PB2500041.JPG

And here's down where I took the cuts.

PB2600022.JPG
.

Last, I put the dome's tray off the concrete floor onto a couple plastic blocks. The concrete gets too cold.

Based off of past results these three should be rooted and ready to move into soil within 14 days. :Namaste:

Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. I also re-adjusted the restraints on BBK and CK#1 :) That's a daily chore.

Looking good girl! Glad to see things are thriving in your world, great updates too.

Tremendous update, SoilGirl.

Always an education. Always a pleasure.
:green_heart:

looking sweet. happydays

:circle-of-love:

Great gardening girl

Happy Thanksgiving ! :cheer:

Have a great and safe DanksGiving!

I&i

Thank you everyone, I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving! - even if not celebrating the holiday. We had a huge dinner and I got to meet my sister's big-shot future-NHL-goalie boyfriend and watch old Disney movies with my sister all day. My Dad used the excuse to watch football like a randomly uproarious zombie all day and drink hard apple cider (as if he needed one) and my mom got to stress all day over the perfect dinner... all was as right as could be here. ;)

My little date yesterday went really well :) Mitch was really gentlemanly and polite, and geez did he have a lot of funny stories to tell... He makes me want to live more haha. We met for coffee and went on a little walk, then we sat in his car and smoked another blunt lol. Idk if I can take another of those lol, next time I'm going to see if he'll vaporize with me haha. Then he walked me back to my car, gave me a little sweet kiss and a hug and said bye. :bigblush: It was a nice change for me lol. Tomorrow I'm going to go watch him play a hockey tournament and hang out imbetween games. :cheesygrinsmiley: ...but back to the green growing.

Now a Quick Veg Room Update!

So, the t5 got here friday, but I didn't set it up until today. it was pretty annoying because I had to rearrange things, but I'm happier with the set up now  - not the prettiest, but functional.

PB290001_1.JPG

I just moved 4 of the 5 plants under CFL's under the t5 for now, Diesel is still completely happy where she is under her one CFL. So the other CFL's got moved/redirected.

PB2900021.JPG

Here's Red Cherry Berry - after some serious defol and side-training to get some even nodes started. This particular mix of early defol and side training is new for me but I think it will have great results, I counted 11 good nodes I think I can get to grow mostly evenly, 1 or 2 for cloning... the rest were removed. I'll train and supercrop the ones left in the future to make it a beautiful RCB bush.

This stout plant is so strong, I love it. :circle-of-love:

PB2900032.JPG

Also just starting a little side training (by hand, not wire) on Corleone Kush #2... whose nodes really need to start going, big happy fans are great... but that's not where the buds come from. :S

PB2900041.JPG

And here's Corleone Kush #1, tightly tied down and being kept strictly defol'ed until her nodes start reaching out a bit more.

PB2900051.JPG

This is Ghost OG... with a struggling top >.< one of the nodes I was too rough with when hand training downwards, and it snapped a little, but is recovering. I'm just annoyed with myself, I wanted it to grow evenly, and now one top is definitely dominant over the other. We'll see what I do about this soon...

PB2900061.JPG

Here's DinaFem Diesel looking as good as it gets. The top is starting to slowly take. Whatever, no rush.

PB2900071.JPG

And here's little Blue Blood #2 with her own CFL now. No real stress from the rough handling. Sweet. ;)

PB2900081.JPG

....in some other news today I found some very perplexing critters threatening my grow >.< ... no pics because I attacked on sight but here's the summary.

the first, a mite attack that moved in virtually overnight in my flower room. The skinnier Euphoria and the two BBK's were just crawling -.- F***. That's what I get for moving them inside without spraying. Learn from my mistakes people >.< ........ I doused each plant with Monterey Garden Insect Spray w/ Spinosad twice (let it dry then sprayed and let it dry again before going back under the MII1600), rubbed every plant pot and stem with a Neem Oil/Pyrethrin/Ghost Pepper/Garlic mix of mine on a rag all around, sprayed the floors with neem oil, and some parts of the mylar even though it gets it dirty -.- damn it, I hate mites.

I know it's late to spray the plants as heavily as I did but whatever, those mites woulda killed them. I can still budwash at least, and MGIS shouldn't have any adverse affects when vaporized/smoked. ...am I worried they'll come back? Not really.. I'm armed to the teeth with a bunch of other organic pesticides I'm just itching to open and try.. ;) shall we dance mites...? :rip:

The next critters I found were those pesky freaking Black Soldier Fly larvae in my worm can, starting to take over again >.< >.< >.< UGH. A couple little eggs must have survived in the tiny bit of compost I moved into my indoor worm can. Is it SO hard to just isolate some worms and good organic waste??
..... I scooped out the teeming maggots that I could and moved all the worms I found (actually, Lots) further down below the surface (BSF larvae like to sit near the top) but besides that I can't do much. I may have to handpick as many healthy worms as I can, and start a new freaking can, being much more selective and attentive to what I add in -.- I can't believe I was excited about those larvae once. They're turning into a huge PIMA. :lot-o-toke:

Oh well. Not Grow-Ending. Either one. Unless those mites turn out to be those supermites I've heard of... not likely, but if they are -.- they won't like me when I'm angry. Today was just an annoyed me. :laughtwo:

Hope everyone is mite-free, maggot free, and still stuffed from Thanksgiving. :ciao: :volcano-smiley:

Hi SG. :ciao: So glad to hear you had a good date. I'm sure that a fresh avenue in your life is just what the doctor would order.

Tremendous update once again. Your close ups and words are really instructive. :thanks: So sorry about the pests. (Guess it's inevitable that sooner or later they will become my own next new experience). If they are anything like the aphids on my roses, they go for the most potentially beautiful plants: in my case the Damascene roses. My compost is still teeming with BSF lava too, which is why I haven't used my own compost this time.

Take care, young lady.

What's up SG?! Everything is looking so great. I'm really happy that your grow goes undisturbed :)
If you're having some mite problems, you can try an Azatrol dip... That works everytime.

Here's what you do if you want to try it out.
2 Tablespoons of Azatrol into a 5 gallon bucket of fresh water. Put a paper plate with a cut to the middle over the top of the pot so the soil doesn't fall out into the water and submerge the plant down to the stalk. I always do a double dunk and then let them sit in the dark to dry off. Never in any light.

Good luck with those little bastards. Once you got them... They are so hard to get rid of.
Much love, love lol
Hope all is well :)

Thank you Corgie and Jaga! Yeah it's starting to keep me busy tending to all the plants :) just the way I like it.

Have you ever tried dipping the cuttings into an aloe filet for rooting? I read of absolutely incredible results with this, and nothing to mix or buy.

Hey Girl:cheesygrinsmiley:
Your another one that grows with steroids them stems look so strong and thick ,, hope that you had a trouble free an happy thanksgiving:circle-of-love:
Hahaha hi Jaga! Thanks so much I hope you're enjoying the beginning of the holiday season too!

Aw hahaha thanks for noticing lol, I'm actually Really surprised at the vigorous, thick stem growth I'm getting on plants like Ghost OG, RCB, and CK#1 this grow. I've never had the growth be so strong and solid so early before; I still have lots and lots to learn about organic gardening but I can tell I'm on the right path now. :Namaste:

Lol that little monster grub that devoured your little plant's taproot back in the outdoor grow was a BSF larvae huh? It sure looked like one. Weird - I read they discriminate between dead and alive organic tissue, only eating the dead stuff. Oh that's no way to begin.. Hi Mr. Teddy!! Thank you for such kind words, and I'm so glad I can help others learn to grow this amazing plant. and Yes. That date was indeed overdue in my life as you know hahaha. :Namaste:

Oh and about the mites, idk, with your dandy little tent I doubt that's a big concern, just keep an eye on the pets and don't go on any forest romps before going in your tent, you should have no problems. And if you do oh well... like you hinted, mites are kinda a milestone for any MMJ grower. They may hit you hard once... or twice if you're slow to learn like me lmao, but eventually you'll know their every weakness and they won't stand a chance lol. Puny things mites, against the power of the human mind. :blalol:

Hola mi amigo bueno, Sphnx! :) Thank you for the kind words, isn't it great to see no drama in here, just green plants and the occasional critter?

Thanks so much for your advice, actually, Azamax (also derived from azadirachtin but more concentrated than Azatrol) is something I've been waiting to try out. However I've read that it doesn't do jack against tomato russet mites, which worries me. I have no idea what kind of mites I have. >.< The MGIS I used is also a very effective growth inhibitor because of the spinosad so we'll see if the MGIS cuts it, I'll be respraying in two days. If not the Aza-dip is coming up! And great suggestion with the paper plate!
Have you ever tried dipping the cuttings into an aloe filet for rooting? I read of absolutely incredible results with this, and nothing to mix or buy.
I read of amazing results from Corgie doing that too, and I loved his aerocloner's 5-6 day results. Incredible. But no. I honestly wish I had more experience cloning, I've only had like 11 successful clones... I'd love to try it out and make the switch, and eventually I hope to, but for now I have so many cloning supplies, IDK what to do with them all haha. Gotta use up this Dip 'N Gro, which potentially can last for hundreds of cuttings even in a tiny bottle, and then I have some Mad Farmer's Root It I want to try... then I'll give Aloe a shot. :)

- of all things organic growing, I'm willing to fudge the rules just a little when it comes to cloning. I know I don't organically clone and probably should haha, but the bottom line for me at this point is I know these non-organic methods will get me clones I can still grow completely organic in every other way, and I think clones should be an integral part of any serious and ongoing grow. We wouldn't have the great strains we do nowadays if growers only grew by seed :S

Thanks for coming by and asking Sue! Sorry for the lengthy response haha. ;)

Girl you was always on the right path :high-five:
but rather than walking you are running,, I just resaw the clones they also look so strong an good really looking forwards to seeing what the buddage will be like,, it really looks to me like you just about to call BINGO:yahoo:I rally mean that the genetic make up looks well strong a strong woman well :smokin:well proportioned :cheesygrinsmiley::blushsmile::winkyface:Take care you give me a lil bit of sweetness in this lil corner great growing :circle-of-love:

Aw hi again Jaga, I so love your posts haha.. you can tell everything you write is from the heart. :circle-of-love: - if sometimes a bit greenly jumbled on the way out. :laughtwo::hug: thank you so much for your compliments haha.

I'm sure my excitement over the current strains is just taking a rest lol, when I get to start flowering new genetics I'm sure I'll be off-the-wall excited again. ;) ...but during veg, it's just a bunch of different looking leaves with a bit of scent here and there haha. RCB is so...fresh and green smelling like you'd expect from something with such lush vegetation, I get transported to a foggy mountain forest in California with every whiff. OG Kush PR smells like dank ganja lol, and has a lighter green to its well rounded hybrid leaves. Corleone Kush #1 is leathery and has a tiny whiff of bubble gum in it. I love to pick up on the subtle differences in veg, but what really excites is flowering of course; the two first new genetics to flower will be CK#1 and Ghost OG. can't wait to see what happens to them..

Take care!
