I suspect it's the diminishing daylight hours that triggers flowering rather than the magical 12/12. I tried to emulate nature somewhat with my last grow by dropping the hours slowly and she started flowering mere days after hitting that magical 12/12. I plan on doing the same with my current grow.
 
I think you might have a little more time than expected which is a good thing. I recommend you read LAs article on backbuilding if you google "bud backbuilding" it's the first result. It gives you something to smoke but your buds are so nice I'm not sure you need to.
