SmokeyMcFly's Plushberry & WOS Brazil Amazonia HighBrix LED Grow

I planted a WOS Strawberry Blue tonight for my next grow after this batch. Nothing else major going on. Im not gonna update this journal every time I water or spray this time like last just give weekly or so picture updates and updates when anything major happens or I need help.

Here are the ladies at just over three weeks since flip. I think I am going to give them another week before starting the Cat drenches unless you guys think I should do it sooner.

You can see my goofy 3 bladed leaves from jacking up the photoperiod in the beginning :/

Looking for some advice on LEDs for my Veg tent. One half(ish) of the tent will be mothers the other half will be used to veg out my clones to get ready for flowering. I got 2 of the little reflector series topLed lights for a 2x4' tent and I am not sure what spectrum is best to use for keeping long term mothers and growing out clones. Should I just use the Veg setting or Veg and bloom? I got two so if its beneficial I could run one side full and one veg. I was thinking full spectrum might be healthier for the mothers since I want to keep them long term, its not like the sun is only putting out blue and white even if the plant only uses very little of other spectrums they are still available to it in nature. I am worried that long term lack of other spectrums might be an issue.

I also picked up another MarsII for my Flower tent. I grabbed an 80x5w to go with the 140x5 I already have so I should have awesome coverage in the 3'x5' section of my flower tent i'm using for plants.

Thanks for any input, I am going to Cat drench tonight if they are dry enough so I will take some pre drench pictures. The buds have been filling in nicely if I do say so myself. This kit is really easy once you get the hang of it and it seems idiot proof for the most part. Even if you double dose them it doesn't really hurt anything. I love it, Doc for Pres! :thumb:

I can't give good advice on the LED spectrum, other than that my thinking is the same as yours. It's more a matter of saving power by eliminating the unneeded reds. There's a marginal node-spacing effect between the spectrums, too.

I think your timing is fine on the drench (just checked - three weeks from flip). I might wait for the next watering ...

Lookin' great so far! :thumb:

Red makes plants stretch so I run mine veg only for mothers and clones

Really, I have not heard that before. I could see it if you were only running only red while it was in veg and looking for blue / white. I had my last plants under my 140x5w marsII full spectrum during veg and I had to keep raising it to try and get at least some space between the nodes they were so tight. Maybe it was because it was such a big light? strange.

I am all for running just veg setting though, less elec is always good esp if its actually better for the plants! I will go with just veg and see how they do. Yours seem to be doing just fine with what your doing.... #jealous

Thanks GT.

Those pictures are a week old at this point. They were flipped on 7/14 so they are in their 4th week now and much fatter then in the latest pics I have on here.

I will get some pics up in the next 20 min or so. It seems like the CD is the one thing that you dont want to mess up the timing on and there not dry enough that they can't wait another day for it.

When the directions say 3-4 weeks do they mean from flip to 12/12 or 3-4 weeks of actual flowering?

4 weeks is much better - good!

I've been looking at the same issue for my veg area. Like you, I want a gentle area for the young ones and a nice bright side for the ones vegging for flower. The red spectrum would be useful there. I've been vegging under 4100K CFLs and having a hard time getting them to stretch before flower. So maybe a guy should go blue over the younguns and full spectrum over the full grown (and growing) ones.

They are still a little heavy still so I am going to wait till tomorrow night to do the CD unless you think I should wait longer.

Thanks

Plushberry looks perfect for it, Amazonia may have some more in her still.

You're there looking at them - your call. :cheesygrinsmiley:

The plushberrys starting budding the day they hit 12/12. They had their photoperiod screwed up the most and they started trying to flower weeks before the real flip so i'm not surprised if its ready for it a week sooner. The amazonias weren't AS messed up and took a normal amount of time to develop flowers so they are roughly a week behind in bud development.

I know its hard to see in the pictures its just that i'm not sure exactly what I am shooting for. The directions say when the buds set. If I look at them I would think they were set but I thought that two weeks ago.

What is the thing you look for to tell you its time to CD? When the pistols shrivel up and start to brown up some? Or is it more when they get chunky and look like they have most of their fattening up done? The PB buds look chunkier and the pistols are more shriveled up and some have browned.

Also I haven't top dressed the recharge yet. If I wait another week to CD the amazonias should I also wait to top dress or should I give them that now?

Sry for so many questions.

That's basically the stage I look for, just as the pistil growth begins to stall. If you catch the timing just right, they'll begin to swell and restart calyx production right away, but mine usually remain stalled for a week or so before restarting. I tend to do my recharge and EWC in that same time frame, sometimes together with the drench, usually a week earlier.

They really look great, Smokey!

Thanks GT

I kinda figured that out last night after the sourD wax wore off... It was like a light bulb came on, if they look like this and there not ready and if they look like this and they are ready, then if I wait till these look like that I will be all good lol.

I can't take any credit for them looking good, I have done everything u could think of to try and jack these up (not on purpose) and they still look super healthy. :thumb:

You add EWC along with the recharge? How much per plant?

When you do it a week early with no CD do you add any tea or anything to start working on that poop or just straight water?

I haven't made any issue of it. I just water it in with whatever was on the schedule - Trans/Tea or Energy/Tea or straight water. It would be a better idea to scratch the EWC into the top soil a bit, but I don't. The recharge is primarily to offset future depletion. Not so much is going to happen right away. :cheesygrinsmiley: Although I've seen plants respond to EWC in a week or so.

Hah I have the opposite problem. Everything I really want to grow ends up being clone only (which I cant get in my state) or they don't have fem seeds for it. We have stupid restrictive limits here, 7 plants total 4 immature 3 mature, mature being a plant that is visibly showing flowers so it makes it hard for me to plant 5 or so to ensure I get a good female out of the deal. Its just so much easier for me to go with fem seeds so I can plant one or two at a time and hopefully get a keeper.

I also plan on grafting up a super mom as I collect different strains since its just not possible for me to keep a bunch of different moms hanging around and I really like switching up strains often so I don't get to much tolerance built up.

O and to top it off were only supposed to have an O on hand ready to smoke at any given time. Combine all those rules and its just about impossible to grow enough to supply my demand without breaking at least one of the rules but I do my best to stay within them for peace of mind if nothing else. For this reason I don't own a scale and will not be posting yield figures on any of my grows... Sorry guys. This is also why I would rather grow less weight but super potent bud then lots of normal potency bud and will probably be making hash out of my extra weight on each grow even though I would rather smoke the bud.

I have been trying to get my wife to get a card just so I am not so limited by the limits but she is not having any of it...

I get sour D from the dispensary from time to time and really like it.

That is bs your wife wont get a card for the benefit. I wouldnt get a card even if it were offered but I dont care to be on another government list and to be labeled a ward of the state. Does she smoke it though?

Nah she says it makes her feel dumb so she doesn't smoke. She is also worried about being on some gov list. If she smoked I would be telling her to get over it and go get one :D
