Slye's First Discreet Closet Soil Grow 2012

Red alert!

Sudden turn for the worse when I went this morning to do my usual pH adjustment :(

This is all over one plant and spreading down the table to the other two. Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

I diluted my current reservoir (fresh on Tuesday) with tap water, thinking it might be as simple as nute burn. My last res was the 'hottest' yet.

Very concerned though ... this is a killer if not corrected. pH was 6 - 6.5 for maybe 48 hours over the holidays, but I don't know if that's long enough to develop a lockout or a toxicity.

Going to fill up a res tub with tap water so it can sit overnight and I'll consider flushing a few times tomorrow.

Any ideas what's causing this?

Help!
:Namaste:

I don't know what I did (or didn't do) with the reservoir to cause that leaf damage, but a flush and a new res fixed it right back up.

Flowering has begun --

But I'm really disappointed with how I've trained the ladies. They're more bushy/overgrown than neatly trained to optimize screen usage. I think I have one plant too many, didn't start training early enough, and let too many suckers get too long. I've trimmed off a lot of the tiny branches that come off the main branches, but I think that's something I should have been doing all along.

On the upside, I've had a chance to sample a bit of these flowers -- even tried a bit of the vegetation a few weeks ago. Taste was awful (hadn't been flushed) but there was some effect. If it was an indication of things to come then I'm very excited!

Here's a pic of the whole bushy mess. Canopy is very uneven :(

Hmmm ... think so?

I accidentally 'snapped' one over the other day. Not completely two but just folded so to speak. That's called supercropping isn't it? I've read about that but it was never a technique I thought to apply on purpose :) I'd be worried that twisting would break the stalk clean off at the twist and then I'd be sad, sad, sad lol

Thanks for the suggestion, oldman! I'll try it on one of the thinner stalks to try it out!

Life, as it is wont to be, has been busy so I haven't posted here much. Been reading plenty though :) Time and experiment are the best teachers though. Growing is learning.

Anyhow ... despite a few hiccups along the way things are looking good. Yield will suffer because I didn't train them properly, or at least, I would train them differently next time. I've used defoliation throughout with generally good results. However, I did a hard defoliation shortly into the stretch phase. I can confirm that it pretty much stops the stretch phase dead in its tracks.

Because my stem training didn't pan out I've also plucked a lot of fan leaves from upper bud sites (i.e., in my uneven scrog canopy, I've plucked most fan leaves from above the screen). There's still lots of dark green -- but I plucked the biggest and oldest leaves. In some cases I plucked fan leaves (which were old and creating much shade) which were attached to bud sites. Woulnd't advise doing that either because it definitely slowed down the action at the developing bud site.

So, lots to do differently next time. But on the upside, I've had a fine time collecting lower buds for my enjoyment!

:Namaste:

All is good if you are still learning and trying new things. :)
