SleepDog’s Sour OG, Sherbert Kush & Bubba Kush: Soilless Grow Journal 2019

Back to the journal:

The Sour OG doesn’t look like she will even make 4/20. After inspecting with my loop I have noticed there is around 5% amber and the rest of the trichs are around 50/50 clear to cloudy. It also seems that overnight a lot more of the top bud’s pistols have turned a nice deep bright orange. There aren’t many orange hairs where the light doesn’t reach too well, so I will probably start taking tops and leave the undergrowth for a bit longer.

Any suggestions when I should chop this Beauty? She is only in day 51 of flower and I don’t want to jump the gun early and have a bunch of nice looking shitty weed!

I got a few good closeups with my loop up to my iPhone camera lens. These trichs are looking good.

What are your thoughts folks, ready or not?

It has been a couple days now since I trained and fixed the bubba Kush. The stock is already starting to push through the wire just a little so it should be good to remove in a couple days. Also, the bottom branch had cracked away at the connection while training so I strapped her tightly in place. I noticed while fixing that it had already done this once in its own. Both the branch and the top are still growing as fast as the rest. This plant is the second picture. It would be a great outdoor plant because she just wants to stretch out and grow, it has more than double the internode space than the other plant.

Nice plants mate.
If you give me a link to where to vote for your sherb, I will, lovely.
Only prob I ever found with that style of training is like your experiencing, because the branches arent vertical like a normal plant the stresses are all in the bends to the base...bad place to break plants in flower.
Bloody awesome work, no knocking it, just a weakness in that style without a net for support.
Love ya work.

Cheers Lowrider72!
I got kind of lazy training the 2 Bubba Kush and tried to do a little more than I should have at once. Thankfully she is still vegging for a bit so she will scar up in time. But in the future I will definitely take your advice and support the larger dominant lower branches. I would like to try other methods of training but with 4’5” ceiling I think this is the best way.
The plant that is almost finished budding and in the competition is the Sour OG.

@Lowrider72 I appreciate the vote!
I am also going to take you up on that netting suggestion or some sort of support system from now on. I honestly didn’t think the buds would get this big and heavy and really only considered it to space out the buds and do a scrog. I now realize the netting or scrog is more than just a spacer but keeps everything upright where it is when the buds pack on. I don’t have a very good pick to show it but all the branches that come off main stock are all lined up on the left and have started to drop down even more since photo.

I keep looking at the Sour OG with a loop, and for some reason these trichs aren’t really changing. It is about the same mix of clear to cloudy and hardly any amber. First, worry if it is too early, then oh no, am I too late. Most of the pistols have turned a nice orange and there aren’t as many new ones coming anymore, so I’m thinking they will be good any time in the next week.
