How is it going @H20gro

It sounds like you have some questions about cal-mag?
I can probably help you out with that.

When I do DWC my plants are on 250 ppm's after they have a tap root, and I found that putting 250-300 ppm's of cal-mag in every solution change will keep everything just right.

My current grow, my solution will drop 125 to 175 ppm's a day with a gallon and a half of solution out of the 3 1/2 gallons in the bucket, so just adding water will soon show sign of deficiencies. Sometimes during the grow when the ppm's are getting to low, I will add 15ml of cal-mag before I think about adding anything else. When I will wait a day to see reaction and read the ppm drop.

Most grower will not replenish the ppm's when there solution drops, but I can have a 600 to 800 ppm drop in three to four days, and as long as I have been growing in water it has not been a problem.

If you have any specific questions about cal-mag let me know.

Stay safe, and grow well my friend,
Tok..

Thanks for reaching out and for going through my journal. Youre correct, ive been a little confused about this and @Bill284 mentioned maybe trying 1/2 dose of calmag when topping off res.

Currently, these two plants are taking in about 1 1/2-2 gallons of water per day total. So yesterday i topped w 1/2 dose of calmag, but will consider your advice in future.

I change res each sunday, but by wednesday my ppm is down more than id like.

Is the plant’s demand for calmag the same in veg and flower?

Thanks again. I hope you enjoyed the journal and the comical mite scare. Keeping fingers crossed for another month or so…

When it comes to LED's and cal-mag the more you turn up your light the more she needs. I normally add one tablespoon for 3 1/2 gallon of solution when the ppm's have dropped more than 400 ppm's from just adding RO water.

So to answer your question; When you turn up your lights you will use more cal-mag.

I think one tablespoon of cal-mag in 3 1/2 gallons of RO water comes out to around 250 ppm's (I will check on Sunday when I mix a new solution), if your RO starts at zero.

Hope this helped?

How is it going @Bogus Monkey

When the solution drops and the ppm's stay the same, the plant is drinking water.
When the solution and the ppm's drop the plant is drink water and taking up nutrients.
When the ppm's drop and the water stays the same, the plant is feeding just not drinking any water.

Hope this helps.

edit: If neither one happens you probably have a nutrient lockout.

Isn't ppm a measure of the concentration of a solution?
If the plant were just taking in water the concentration of nutrients would rise, right?

Just some weekly pics a day early in honor of 4/20

What is this do ya think? It was a top leaf on my skywalker og that is about a month from harvest. Rest of plant looks pretty good but… this?

Looks like the ph is slightly off.
Possible potassium def?
Don't pluck the leaves. :Namaste:

Im still getting suggestions that it is bug damage over on the forum of site where i bought seeds but my experience w bugs is theyre a bit more expedient and complete in their damage. Ive been diligently looking for bugs for a month now but… i dont see any. Ive heard calmag deficiency too but i just dont know. Just gonna give tlc and keep an eye on em for a few more weeks

This was the type of bug on my arm in the grow tent that had me concerned. This was on an outdoor tomato plant. Any idea on what it is?

Looks like it might be a leaf footed bug nymph.

Overdue weekly pics. I went w a very weak nutrient solution last week and as i topped res i didnt use calmag. May 13 is target harvest so i was kinda trying to signal to the plants its time to ripen. So the discoloration was expected. I set ppm at about 900 today and sunday i will begin a week long flush.

So i abandoned the mainline idea for the sake of time, but still had a few toppings.

I decided to do some things a lil differently w this crop. 1) im not waiting for amber trichomes. There are a few but this is a 80% indica w high thc so… decided to harvest a lil earlier than usual after some reading on the topic. 2) i normally harvest the whole plant at once, but decided to harvest what essentially were the tops from one plant.

I will let the bottom buds try to ripen a bit before harvesting rest of plant and will harvest the other plant similarly in 3-10 days.

Please let me know if im risking anything by doing this. As always, your advice is appreciated.
:Rasta: :hookah: :Rasta:
Also, i didnt get to do a week flush this time nor did i get to go dark for 3 days but looks to be a decent harvest to be had. :hookah::hookah::Rasta::cough::420:
