SkooterClowns - CFL Papaya Grow

There is always bagseed if those clones are slow going. :grinjoint:

(Like you want bagseed anyway..:hippy:)

Good Luck Spark on those clones man.
The clowns are running out.....Bet one of those bottles is history already. RoorRip

I want more bud porn too.....

We'll take anything that can/or does have a root.
We are almost one soldier down. :grinjoint:

I would love to see how the one pheno (Vortex X ?, my only healthy plant) I am growing would do with you guys, hopefully I will be able to borrow a camera again by Wednesday and I will show you. (I hope to god I can regen her to get some clones from) It is so purty, either that or it is sick in a pretty way......seems like the buds are growing calyxes with little or no leaf and it is all coated in fur and it is only growing little tuffs of hairs...looks cool and is just coated with tricomes. Bet she would of been alot purtier in your tub....won't talk about my other plants...other than any bud is good bud right! :grinjoint:

:peace: guys!

Well it's been a long road to get something goin' in our tub(s). We now have 4 babies in them. They are 4 different clones. Blue Funk (we're told that it's a cross of Blueberry and Sweet Tooth), Chrystal, Afghan, and something called "weed" (don't ask...we don't know).

We are told they are female and clones. Check out the pictures as you can see we got them in 12 ounce plastic cups full of dirt. Following our grows you will know that we do not grow in dirt. We did it once and will not do it again. So the only option we came up with was to do pull 'em outta the dirt and get them in our tub.

We searched the interweb and found nothing to tell us if or how to do this. We went for it yankin' them outta the dirt and cleaning the root of all the dirt we could. We were VERY surprised to see that the root system for each of these were tiny.

The afghan was in the bigger cup and is the tallest in the pictures. It has the most roots and so the roots had to be hacked to get them in the 3" net cups we use.

So now we have things in the tubs and we are confident that they are in a very comfortable environment and will thrive. They will get 24 hour lighting for a time to see how they are handling the shock etc. We put them in a nute mix of the first week on the GH chart (400 to 800 ppm). We hope to switch to 18/6 in a couple of days. Then we will wait for roots to develop out of the cups and then go to 12/12. We may have to do some cutting to control height but are hoping not to have to do that.

During the down time Slappy made some modifications to the grow box to help control the heat. We were having a bit of a problem getting the heat to even out in the box (top and bottom). In true McGyver fashion Slappy put one of the ceramic heaters in-line so that air coming into the bottom of the box passes over it. He also put one down under the tubs and cut a mess of holes in the wood holding the tubs in an effort to keep things nice and warm during the winter grow. Seems he got that fixed up just in time for this Dr. Kevorkian experiment.

Stay tuned.

Information I found regarding the strains in this grow:

Chrystal is a White Widow hybrid that has been re-back-crossed with Northern Light. Two world-famous marijuana strains! Its big sticky buds give off an almost kerosene-like aroma and produce a quick-hitting high. An F1 hybrid, Chrystal produces outstanding yields of top quality grass. Its plants are much easier to manicure than White Widow. Chrystal was a first place winner of the Dutch Highlife Cup ( a renowned marijuana competition) in 2002.

Blue-FunkWe're told it's a cross of Blueberry Blueberry indoor marijuana is a mostly Indica (80% Indica, 20% Sativa) strain, that dates to the late 1970´s. Blueberry marijuana produces a plant with red, purple and finally blue hues, that cure to a lavender blue. The finished product has a very fruity aroma and taste of blueberry. It produces a pleasantly euphoric high of the best quality and is very long-lasting. Medium to large calyxes. "Blueberry" has a long shelf life. & Sweet Tooth Sweet Tooth cannabis seeds picture Sweet Pink Grapefruit x Blueberry Male x Grapefruit F1 Backcross to Mother.
These seeds are from the first backcross. Very sweet, mostly indica. Fruity, frosty & fairly fat. Mostly lime green bud with royal purple accents. Outdoors the calyxes are prone to purpling completely. The sugar taste is almost sickly sweet.

Many of today's popular hybrids are derived from Afghan's genetics. Imported originally from Afghanistan, the Afghan strain traveled to Holland where it was cultivated exclusively. A strong indica, Afghani (as it is also called) is known for its sharp, strong smell and fat, round leaves. These leaves have glands greasy with resin which extends out to the fan leaves.

AfghanThe leaves are so robust, the plant itself tends to grow large and bushy and is usually quite high yielding. A bonus for any indoor grower.
Afghan marijuana has-long before its discovery-incurred thousands of years of extreme weather conditions stemming from its mountainous surroundings, thus leaving the plant strong, sturdy and exceedingly resilient to disease.

Perfect for outdoor growing, though indoor is usually preferred. This rugged plant is unique in its ability to self-administer healthy growth. Afghan is a very low-maintenance strain.
As a thick, heavy plant, Afghan also carries a thick, heavy smoke that can be likened to a velvety, full-bodied hash taste. A definite mind-numbing high if cared and cured for properly.

Weed We have no friggin' clue what this is. If we run out of room (highly likely) this one will be the first to get the axe.

To be honest with all you stoners out there umm...before we started yankin' these outta the dirt we were workin' over the contents of one of our jars and "forgot" to label the first 2 we yanked. Those are the "Blue Funk" and the "Chrystal". We are hoping to be able to recognize the Chrystal as it grows by the WW and NL traits. We've grown both of those so hope to be able to tell. We never heard of, or saw Blue Funk (although there is a stoners memory of a plant we grew in our first ever (and only) dirt grow but it's another "who the hell knows" kind of deal)

The clown's are back!!!! Nice to see you have something with roots in your bubbler!

Hope they recover super quick and explode!!! Those are your new mothers?

Just wondering what you was planning for the Afghan? You gonna bud her really short or try and control her height other ways?

 +rep (if I can, seems I suck at spreading the love lol)

You go clowns :cheertwo: yah!!! :cheertwo:fired up to see this go:cheertwo::cheertwo::headbang:
The blue funk as you call it,might be a cross between Blue RHino and Sweet Tooth
The strain i here was a first time cross for the grower. He saw the phat buds and a sweet taste from the sweet tooth, then with the heavy BUZZ of the blue rhino....:adore:
sound perrfect. Ive seen sweet tooth in and out and woww. I have never seen a 9 ft plant in my region outdoors until I saw SWEET TOOTH...4 of us couldnt get our hand to touch around it. Hate to say it, almost to big, it was hard to keep upright and from breaking. So back to its name. Ive always thought it was called BlUE Fuck
BLUE rhino(dad)X FUCKin sweet tooth(mom). Is that funny shit?!?!?!?!?!?
I love the shape of the leaves in picture 7. WEED.. now that funny shit .....some stoner forgot to mark it. :loopy:Who knows it could be something good like ICEIS,Chocolate Chunk,Maple leaf, blueberry or maybe straight up sweet tooth... well hell ya
Now it looks like forward is the way.. never straight.

hey clowns.. how're the girls taking to being washed off?

Hey guys....thanks for the welcome back.........good to be back in the grow.......

Hey spark.thanks for info...all sounds good to me..Hope the box can handle all these plants as it will be hard to chose which would have to go...

As for the girls...they seem to have taken the root bath/transplant quite well.....not even one wilted/droopy leaf...not yet anyway...

After the transplant we decided to put them on 24hrs light for awhile to see how they handled all the stress.

Seeing as today they look as though nothing even happened I'm going to switch it from 24hrs to a 18/6 cycle starting tonight and keep it there for a week or two. We'll have to see. We have to get the roots built up a bit before we go to 12/12

In about a week, if all is going as planned, I will probably change the mix and get the ppm up to the 1200-1300 range. I'll post up the specifics of the change when it comes time.

Ok enough of that......here is the pic for today so you can see for yourself how they are doing so fine....just taken

hey clowns.. i have a question..

what exactly are those foam discs around the stem for?

So good to see them perky
Way to hang in:adore::goodjob:
It will always work out
After talking about papaya I was given some clones and they have been stuggleing but my buddy has 1 NL and 1 papaya and I may have 2 of each when all said and done
Kool
Im back old school dirt It will be fine See if I can get some photos of the 6 girls

hey clowns.. i have a question..

what exactly are those foam discs around the stem for?

News..the neoprene "caps" are to prevent light from reaching the roots and water. NO light should be reaching the water or roots so that algae won't grow.

Thanks everyone for the welcome back and words of encouragement. We are traveling in new territory with these plants. It's nice to know there are people interested and willing to follow our exploits. If this switching from dirt to hydro deal works it sure can open up opportunities for us in the future to grow other strains that we may be able to get our hands on. We'll see.

See they had roots so you rocked them!!!! :ganjamon:

Ya we did MtnHi... We rocked them and, in one case, chopped 'em. I'm kind of surprised by the lack of reaction from our actually cutting a hunk of roots off one of the babies. I had imagined we would have been asked questions or at the very least have someone telling their thoughts or experiences about this, potentially murderous, move.

Maybe it's not as drastic as we thought?
