Shiggityflip Hits The Brix - Growing Using High Brix Soil

I just might take you up on that Shiggityflip. Thanks allot, it's greatly appreciated. I'm going out to purchase a good camera tonight. I will be starting the journal sometime within the next week. I'll defiantly be messaging you to ask a few questions. :thumb:

Also, if you don't mind me asking, who is "Doc"? How much is his kit? & so far, what do you think of his 'mix' compared to a "standard" heated mix. (such as subcools) Depending on price, why would you purchase these materials from a middleman? Why not go buy these at your local gardening store? Is there something more that comes with the kit I'm not aware of??

I'm curious about the kit. I have a roughly 50 cubic sq feet of my own high brix heated soil outback at all times. But, I might want to purchase this kit, to give it a comparisons test against my own. I would try it both indoors and out this year. I'm always on the hunt for a new ingredients to help the bugs in my soil. Also can earthworms be used with this soil mixture? If so, when can they be added? After the cooling period, or immediately? Thanks in advance for you response. I'm very curious about this "Doc's kit" In what sizes can this kit be purchased? I'm going to go back and re-read through this thread to see if some of these questions are already answered, but feel free to answer and chime in on the rest. Thanks again! :thumb:

BF-
One of Doc's "Kits" does 42 gal of soil (m/l). Personally, I wouldn't grow a plant in less than 5 gal. of HB soil with 7-10 gal being prefered.
Why buy from Doc? It is cheaper and easier than buying it "at your local gardening store". You get support and you also support a member who helped bring this type of growing to our attention.
You can always buy in bulk to make as much soil as you want - at a significant savings.
Beyond that, you should read the various journals to decide if it is for you, and contact Doc for pricing. :goodluck:

It's nice mixing it all up together. I had space constraints and had to do it in halves. Still ended up with two totes though. :laughtwo:

Great documentation Shiggity. If I could give reps you'd get them. When they restore that function I'll come back and hit you with them.

I have a question and I know Shiggity won't me askin cuz he is just that cool. What does it mean to give reps?

You use the little star at the bottom left of a post (next to "Blog this Post"). It is a way to show appreciation for that member and their post.

Bernardfarms,
Doc has been working with a high brix lab that analyzed several soils and pro-mix came out a winner for having low enough potassium that it could be suitable for high brix growing. He works closely with (aglabs I think?) and offers their products at a really great price point. He is basically affiliated as their cannabis specialist.
He offers a basic kit which is enough to amend a 3.8cu ft bale of promix HP with Mycorhizzae and 20-30lb earthworm castings (with zero potassium like wiggle worm). This cooks for a month and then is ready for use. The rest of the kit is foliars and drenches for different aspects of the grow. They direct the soil and plant activities.

Here are the basic kit instructions:

Kit supplies are also available in bulk but you would have to ask Doc about that.

I can answer the earthworm question. No. This medium and its components will not, IMHO, support a population of earthworms. Frankly, it's my biggest hesitation in using the kit, but it's not been a big enough deterrent to keep me away. I have my LOS pots with my earthworms and I have my kit pots without. Both mediums grow fantastic plants. I'm intrigued by the kit and the sparkling specimens that rise from the soil. My experience is something of an outlier since I got my kit as an unexpected and anonymous gift from an admiring subscriber, so I wasn't someone who researched deeply and I was really unprepared for the change. My experience was with LOS, my overriding passion.

I say go for it. You deserve the experience. I'd be interested in your take on it, coming from an organic soil background. I gave myself fits over the kit, and in the end grew some of my best specimens with it. I've only been through one cycle. The next two cycles will be telling and I'll decide after the third run if I want to continue. If you can afford to play with the kit I highly recommend a spin.

Doc Bud is a Fertilizer Broker.. :)

When it comes to high brix, Doc is not a "middleman". Doc is "The Man".

re: the HiBrix Kit, etc ...

It all comes from ... Welcome to High Brix Gardens | HighBrix Gardens

They don't want to be involved in cannabis cultivation, so Doc handles that. :cheesygrinsmiley:

(When Doc first found them and began journaling about High Brix, they started getting phone calls from stoners all over the place - freaked 'em right out - their State isn't liberal about the herb. Don't try to talk to them about it. Go to Doc Bud.)

:Namaste:

High Brix soil isn't "heated" soil at all. The organic content is actually quite low, as it should be. High Brix soil is MINERALIZED soil, calcium being the king mineral.

18/1 Calcium to Phosphorus
1/1 Phosphorus/Potassium
7/1 Ca/mag
less than 8% organic content
Trace elements present in trace amounts.

Above is a rough framework of HB soil. We make it alive with microbes, which we feed via foliar sprays. it's really nothing like an "organic" mix, other than the fact that it's living soil, loaded with beneficials. It has far more in common with virgin volcanic soil than with something like Subcool's mix.

HB soil has tons of worms in it when used outdoors. As far as "supporting" earthworms as in a worm farm....no. This soil is designed to grow plants, not worms.

worm farming is something different.

Please feel free to ask me questions about my products.

Doc is not a "middleman". Doc is "The Man".

Correct. Anything you get from me will match OR BE LOWER in price than trying to buy direct. Not only that, but I provide free support, unsolicited advice and negative opinions on most subject...... and there is a whole team of loosely associated misfits and ne'r-do-wells who also provide excellent advice.

It's hard to screw up. Some of us still manage to do so, but most people using the "the kit" are growing fabulous produce.

Thanks for this information :thumb:. Dooley noted.. He sent me a pm with the details. Going over everything now. Thanks to all the helpful people out there! This is a cool corner of the net :goodjob::420::bravo:

Damn good salesman to boot eh! ;) Going to look through the thread now.

Ok so I am exhausted. I spent a good few hours adjusting things. It is two weeks into flower and that's about the time stretch stopped for these strains last grow. I stopped the mechanical training two days ago. No more broom handle to the plants. They are looking very green and healthy. I have pics of the individual High Brix plants I will post tomorrow.

Since it is two weeks I mixed the recharge into my remaining HB soil and top dressed all plants. I gave them 1.75oz Growth energy and 1/4oz transplant. They look like they are ready to go! In two days they will get Brix and Wa10x. Take a look what I got accomplished. I need to do some adjusting but it's good enough for now. They have about 2ft more room also.

In case you don't notice, there are 3 more 3w X 150 lights. Hee hee :slide: I am expecting good things especially after discovering the LEDs were off for most of last grow. Also I started a Dynastygenetics Pineapple fields Community Grow thread because I would love to grow it with some of you! Take a look. I put the extensive Professor P strain description in the first post. There are 4 keeper phenos with this strain.
