Re: SeymoreNuggets DIY For Noobs - Build Lights - CO2 Supplements - Auto-Watering - M

Seymore:

Yes, that sounds correct. The only thing I did not mention is that the first CO2 cycle does not start until 30 minutes after lights on in order to allow the plants to wake up. Then the last cycle is completed 30 minutes before lights out to help the plants go to sleep. I may be able to eliminate this lights out cushion with my far red lights coming on for 15 minutes right after lights out but haven't gone there yet.

All this CO2 talk and advice is probably gonna end up in me doing the same Seymore . . my temps aren't the lowest so it will aid the plants no doubt

Thats cool. I thought about you in SA using CO2 against heat stress aswell yesterday .

My CO2 Bag arrives this afternoon. I saw on reviews there will be no instructions lol. I only know it should last 4 month. How long does it take to produce the first CO2? I guess it will need at least 22C to do anything... Not shure.

I guess i will place the bag next to the air intake so it will be blown under and through the canopy, then gets extracted into the small room and hopefully recycled.

I have a look on PPM before i activate the bag. :)

Re: SeymoreNuggets DIY For Noobs - Build Lights - CO2 Supplements - Auto-Watering - M

Yesterday a pack with 45 decent starboards arrived. Now i have 48 and payed only 8 bucks incl shipping. Lots of fun soldering these lol.

I though i could prepare the diodes for my small tent while i am on my trip.

I'll be using the diodes i got from Mars repair center and Mars 2 drivers. Only 1 driver for veg using cold white and 440nm blue. About 18 diodes, 12 blue 6 white. Should pull around 40W. For the other driver i will use about 28 diodes. Think about 21x red and 6x warm white and 1x 740nm. This should give me around 60W so i end up 100W for 1,75sqftm what seems perfect for one plant usind only stuff from the stash. Well, besides the heatsinks but i have 4 of these black ones i mentioned some weeks ealier. There is a picture of these somewhere inside here. So maybe cooling is a freebie too

I will glue them on a 30x30cm aluminum plate with sinks 4x120mm pulling fans and wire them with veg and bloom switches.

This should run pretty cool.
I alswo want to add some reflector to the LED on the edges. Maybe on all

420-magazine-mobile1965205850.jpg

25E for 46 of them.

I will need to build a DIY carbon filter and a Y-adapter for my 420/800m3 fan.

I think this is going to be awesome placing the diodes evenly to make the best out of it. Maybe i can leave a spot in the middle for a small COB, one CLU1212 4000K with 1 mars driver at 30W Or something.

I could go also for 3 or 4 cobs in there. One per driver or 2 per driver at 30W. Both possible. 2x3000k and 1x 5000K. Would be another great option. But i really want to use the Mars Diodes i already have... The should not have been produced for nothing and i might come out pretty cheap. tent costs 45, the parts for the filter and adapter maybe 25.

This 100W fun tent could be mine using partly what i already have and i only have to invest max 100 bucks for a fully filtered tent

It takes about a month before the CO2 starts really generating. You could open it now.

Saving money using scrap parts. Well only if i go without the reflectors lol. Besides that, my cooling is better .

Hey, only a real MyCO2 is user activated. The Boost Buddy was already working. I had something about this in my journal. Better grab yourself a CO2 meter and have a comparison with and without the bag in the house. I wont buy it again and aim for something else. A cage full of squirrels would produce the more CO2 i guess. But i only checked the boost buddy. This would only do something in my setup if the entire room was sealed, but then it would get too warm for the small co2 boost. Not convinced

I did mention they work best in a sealed environment. Is the boost buddy the 2L pop bottle one?

Re: SeymoreNuggets DIY For Noobs - Build Lights - CO2 Supplements - Auto-Watering - M

Hey. No they come in cardboard boxes and are big platic bags where the shroom part is seperated from the membrane its released. Not airtight though. But it was producing right after production. The PPM inside the smelly box it came in and on the membrane was on the highest level my co2 can measure.

Btw after 8 hours of sleep the co2 in the closed bedroom was 2890. If i would grow only during the night hours i would drill a huge hole in the wall on the ground with a connection to the growroom. I think nightime bedroom growers might have more co2 in there plants could ever use.

I could seal the room, but i think i would need at least 5 bags for it to get a co2 level that protects the plants from rising heat.

In my case a timed co2 tank would be the way to go. I saw some huge buckets with a timed airpump on top, but a replacement bucket would cost 80 bucks. Thats way too much imho. For that money i could get an old tank filled with co2 and a magnetic valve with a timer.

Dude. 2890 is huge. That's more than enough to kill you twice. Way more than any plant can use. 1000ppfd with 1000ppm is the manic numbers.

Just be careful bro. Co2 will kill you. That's why I don't use tanks where I live. Especially those cheap $100 solenoid valve/timer activated regulators. If the solenoid gets stuck in the open position...you and your family will never wake up.
The one I rented got hot as hell on the solenoid. The only way to cool it was to set the timer to release large bursts for very short periods.

Dang dude. Just when was about to drive down to the hydro store and finally get tank and stuff. Solenoids scare the shit outta me anyways. I had a drag racing car on Nitrous and the 150hp shot of nitrous wouldnt stop. Solenoid stuck....Burned up a brand new motor. Took everything to get the car stopped.

1400ppm is a value most people still feel comfortable. A sleeping adult is blowing out gallons per hour and if anything under 5000 could kill us there wouldnt be any 12 bed hostels out there any more. lol

In fact there is a max value for working places where i live of 4500 or 0,45%.

The air we breathe out has 4% CO2. Thats 40.000PPM. As long we dont go into a room with 40.000PPM we still can oxygenate and would notice want to get outta there quick.

You are right. When you are asleep a faulty valve will kill you if the air reaches 40.000 or more. It would take between 40K and 70K to make you vomit and getting seizures before you die, and over 70K PPM... Somewhere around 90K you die instantly.

You could work in a 1500ppm grow room for along while and as you see even over 2500ppm for many hours let me wake up again.

Tired though, because its not the best for our body, but still no big deal. Maybe it gets me stupid some day. .

But a faulty valve could kill you yes, Depending on the volume of the tank vs room.

Thanks for warning. If i would use a tank i would buy quality valves and timers and install loud warning devices in the bed and living room. But i also have the Option to open a high window (2,20m from the ground) for a small amount inside the room and it may be possible to keep the 1500ppm at canopy Level (1m from the ground) without the risk of an oversaturation. The door to rhe rest of the house would get an almost airtight seal on the frame so only tiny ammounts could leak through the keyhole and such.

But i am not really shure if i really want all this for my 10oz per year :)

But thanks again, i really appreciate your warnings and help
