Serious Seeds Chronic Grow

Serious Seed does not recommend toping this plant, they say it does not respond well. Have you grown this strain and had success with toping? I would definitely have to read up on how to do that since I have not tried it yet. I am totally open to any suggestions since this is only my 2nd grow and my first grow did not give me anywhere near the results that I was hoping. I've seen some super-cropping and would be interested to try it.

I just checked the plants today and believe that there are 3 girls and #4 is definitely a boy. I am going to put him in the box I made and will collect his pollen.

iv'e never topped a chronic plant, iv'e never grown a chroionic plant or els i would have, i have only fucked around with some ak seeds and sour desil seeds but topping will give u a bush perfect for indoor grows cuase it will grow out instead of up and the yeild is raised. but more branches mean more roots so you will need bigger buckets. i like starting in a huge bucket so i dont have to worry about shocking the plant when transfering it to a new pot. to top the plant you need to cut it at about a fourty five degree angle just above the two smallest branches a the top doing this will make those grow out as the top would have. then you can top those also if you are that daring. you need to trim the plant to. you can take up to 50% of the leaves off without killing it, i dont recomend it but its just good to know. like i siad eralyer you should check search supercropping on this website and find the tutorial ( room mod can you give me a hand and find that link?)it will tell you how to top and get the most out of your plants in a small indoor grow.

I moved the large male to a separate growing space so I can collect the pollen. Does anyone know about how long after first seeing the little balls before they will start to drop pollen? I put the plant on top of a clean sheet of plastic but may need to wrap another one around the base of the stem so if any falls it will collect on the plastic and not in the dirt.

Also, once I get the pollen, when should I plan to dust some of the female buds with it? Do they have to be in a certain week of flowering so the seeds have enough time to grow fully?

the pollen will begin to drop as soon as the male flowers open. they usually pollinate over a few weeks. timing varies from plant to plant. i like to collect the pollen on tin foil . it is easily visible and collects nicely as you can bend and tap the foil. females need at least three weeks to produce viable seed. if you pollinate too early you will have fewer seeds as the pollen must meet a stamen to form a seed. fewer stamens mean fewer seeds. i like to jar the pollen and refrigerate till use. then i'll take a paint brush and dab a little on selected buds of various females. this minimizes contact areas and allows me to fully seed a number of marked, individual buds. if you pollinate too late the buds tend to overmature and invite mold followed closely by rot. the seeds may still be viable but it's gross deseeding a bunch of mold.

by paint brush i do mean the water colour type your children use or the adult equivalent. i had visions of people dipping latex house painting brushes into little jars of pollen .

All that info is MUCH appreciated!! The information in the link is great, everything you need all in one place. They have been flowering for 4 days now so I'll keep a close eye on the male and def put some tin foil under him and use Alien's technique for pollinating. I'm gonna upload some pics soon because I put the 5 new chronic seeds under 12/12 hps with the 2 maybe 3 flowering females. One of them looks like it may have small balls starting to form but also looks like there may be a hair or two.

Here are the new pics:
This is the new suspect male or maybe hermie? Or maybe t is just a girl with a lot of testosterone :-)

Here is a shot of the Male and the tin foil collection cup I made to catch the pollen. I hope this is what Alienpornopot meant:

Thanks Berry! My first grow wasn't great but I did learn a lot from it and everybody from this site that gave me advice along the way. From what you and Moose say, I should be looking for some pollen to start dropping in another couple of days.

I did end up with another male and decided it would be safer if I destroyed him..... what a tough thing to convince yourself that he is a boy and is baaddd. I understand that each male puts out a lot of pollen and one male should be enough. I didn't want to make the mistake of trying to deal with 2 males and getting pollen all over the place.

Since my last update I have had a few issues.... I had a temp problem. I vented air from outside and didn't think about night temps until my girls had dying leaves and shriveling leaves. Also, the bottom half of the pots were dry.

I have since removed the fixed saucer on the bottom of pots so now I can see the water drip from the pot when I water. I enclosed the space with plastic tarp to help hold in the heat and added a heater with thermostat. Temps are now 82 day and 72 night. They were 70 - 72 day and below 60 night maybe 50's.

They are bouncing back nicely now. I was able to collect a good amount of pollen and pollinated 2 buds on one of the girls.

Of the 6 plants 12/12 from seed, I am not sure if one is a hermie or girl with fox-tails.

Sorry if the pics are not too clear as I had surgery on Monday and am taking pics with one hand.

Here is a shot of the girl fox-tails maybe:

Ok, 420 & Berry, I've taken your suggestion and cut down the 2 hermies. I may have 1 boy left which will leave me with 5 girls out of 11 seeds. Thats not too bad considering that they survived me trying to freeze them and deprive them of water accidentally. Hopefully all of the kinks are worked out now and I can still get some decent bud from them :smoke2:
