Seraphim's Tangilope - Coco Smart-Hempy - LED Grow 2014

It has been very dry here in Colorado lately. Today is Thursday, just three days from cut, and I am already putting the washed and dried buds into jars along with their Boveda62 companions. The top crown of buds turned out to be 61 grams dry of just top shelf nugs. That is 2.2 ounces. Very good for the first half of the harvest.

I am no longer calculating what I would have saved from going to the store because there is no way I can smoke all this myself. I suspect that there will be a lot of happy people around me this holidays. I will be giving away nugs to everyone I know that smokes. I am thinking of making little souvenirs with a small Xmas ornament on them and a nug or two along with a rolling paper or two. This will be so much fun!!!!

C-man and Co. Stay tuned for my take on bud washing. I should have left one bud unwashed to compare this round. No worries, I still have the other half of the plant left and I will leave some of those buds unwashed so that I can compare but again, I expect the washed bud to come ahead in every way.

Thanks for stopping by!

I read this right after you posted it I think.....Staying tuned for the comparison....:cheertwo:

Happy harvest Seraphim that's great news. I love the Christmas souvenir idea - that is really kewl and indeed how much fun. Smokeable Christmas ornaments and Mistlebuds :) Looking forward to your bud washing review. Cheers

Exactly!! :cheesygrinsmiley:

Good day friends. Hope today finds you happy, healthy and content.

Today at 56* days of flower the rest of the plant was finally harvested. The second harvest seems to have been more work than the first one because there are more loose buds. Re-vegetative attempt has begun with a feeding of veg nutes and relocation to the veg tent where lights are on 18 hours. There was more bud in there than I thought. Pictures in a little bit..

I washed these buds again but this time I did it differently. I only used one dunk of plain distilled water. Not three like the recipe calls for. I also shook them a lot less than the first time. Additionally, I put aside a small pile of buds and left them completely unwashed. I am looking forward to exploring the differences between them. Of course, my findings will be posted here.

* I think the early maturation had something to do with the 13hour Dark/11hour Light photo period. More tests needed to confirm but I am almost certain.

:bravo: :bravo: Wow! Congratulations Seraphim!

This has really been a good story, your Tangelope. What made you decide it was time to take the rest of her? I've read the part about your flush into veg and find it Fascinating!

:peace:

Pictures....

And this is what is left of Ms Tangilope. I left some small popcorn on her and some leaves. We will see if anything comes of it.

I will come back to post final harvest weight and dried bud pictures. Wish I could give you all a scratch-n-smell too.

Thank you for stopping by!

:Namaste:

This is So Cool!

Thanks for the photos Seraphim. I've lost my bearings on amount so look forward to the report! Your Tangelope made some really, really Beautiful Looking Bud my friend!

:Namaste:

Now that is some serious and awesome Mistlebud hanging in your house Seraphim. Looking forward to your smoke report. Great update and harvest sir, congratulations. yum cubed!

Yum cubed! :cheesygrinsmiley:

Tangilope cries.

After I harvested the rest of Tangilope I watered what was left of her with veg nutes and placed her into the veg tent. A few hours later I notice that everywhere that I cut is now dripping out water. Little drops fall every so often making it look like she's crying.

However, the purple color in the stems seems to be getting pushed out to the tips. There is less and less purple in the end of the thick stems I cut and it seems that more green is taking over already leaving only about a half inch of purple just at the end of those cut stems.

I also sprayed a little bit of mild de-stress on her to see if that helps her out a little. I am sure she is more than a bit stressed right now. It's a nice and toasty 80* in there so I hope she likes it.

Oh I've never heard or read of an account like this. Like I said, it is fascinating to sort-of get a "blow-by-blow" account! :cheesygrinsmiley: I so hope it works so I can follow along [selfish, yes, I know] :cheesygrinsmiley:

:peace:

Wow Seraphim. I can't wait to see how she rebounds and progresses. That is some serious hydraulics - her heart is still pumping to provide water - a fountain of love and life! De-stress the ladies and they will de-stress you :) Interested to know more about the de-stress solution and looking fwd to researching and seeing your results. I also just read the breeder's abstract on Tangie and it sounds like an absolutely fantastik variety and it is on my list. Thank you Seraphim, cheers brah

:Namaste:

:bravo: Agreed! :bravo: Just very well put :high-five:

I sort-of feel like sending the parade your way - - But maybe I'll save it for a post harvest report LOL :)

Re: Seraphim’s Tangilope - Coco Smart-Hempy - LED Grow 2014

C-man you are a hoot! I love it! I'm just laughing through those posts.

I decided to chop because I saw my 10% ambers present. The buds down here were bigger than I thought. Not sure the extra few days I left them had much effect on size but I think the fact that I waited to see more ambers will make them better quality buds in the end when they are ready.

Thank you again my friend. You have made this journey so much fun!

Today the lower buds were dry enough to weigh and jar. It is super dry here and those were smaller buds in average. I am finding that lately 3 days is all it takes here for the buds to be jar ready. This is due to the extremely dry environment here in Colorado.

There were 1.9 ounces of dry bud. When you add this to the 2.1 ounces of top buds from the first harvest that makes Tangilope's total yield an even 4 ounces. A very fair result given the short stature of this plant and her size at the time of the flip.

I would say from this experience that the smart-hempy works quite well and deserves further testing. This was far from scientific and there were a lot of variables from my previous regular hempy grows. There were different strains to begin with, different plant sizes at time of flip, different harvesting styles and container sizes, etc. so, really not a fair comparison at all. Having said all of that, I am very happy with 4 zips dry from a minimally modified 3 gal smart-pot with coco/perlite. A couple of additional weeks in veg would easily have added another 50% or more to the weight of this crop.

The bud is barely dry and is already my favorite smoke. The Soursop taste has carried over nicely and it is an absolutely unique and delightful cannabis bouquet for the senses. I cannot wait to taste/share this when it is properly cured.

And with that my friends, I think this journal can come to an end.

I will be back to post some dried bud pictures as well as a link to the smoke report (spoiler alert! Its going to be good.)

I will also come back here and post a notice when my next journal is up and going and of course, the status of the re-veg attempt will also be posted here.

Thank everyone for following along!

I just wanted to say WOW! That is one beautiful girl! Congratulations!

I am on day 43 with Tangilope. I have her in a closet under 400 watt MH for the whole thing because that's all I could manage this time. She situated next to a Blue Hash Plant in an 18 gal hydro bubbler (I have one large and one medium air pump for lots of bubbles) and using 3 part GH with RO water. It is my first successful grow (so far.)

I am planning on switching to 13 hours of darkness starting today (beginning of week 7.) I would have done so earlier, but didn't really know about it.

Being my first grow I let my Blue Hash girl kind of overtake Tangilope. Blue Hash now has significantly more/larger bud sites. I am confident that BH will be finished sooner (especially the largest cola on top.) I plan on evening out the canopy ASAP so that Tangilope will get equal lighting during these final weeks.

Blue Hash Plant was a freebie. I have been really anticipating Tangilope (especially now after reading this journal!)

Anyways, I just wanted to say that I very much enjoyed your journal. For what it's worth coming from a novice, Awesome job!

I have one question: I have seen many different posts and articles on drying/curing. This will be my first time doing it and I was wondering if you had any tips? From what I understand it should be dried in the dark, relative humidity @ approximately 50%-60%, Temp 75-80, small indirect fan - after 3 -7 days if branch snaps and bud is dry on the outside, but somewhat soft on the inside? Is any of that off?

Thanks!

Thanks Jayg!

She is a gem.

Regarding the drying, you got it pretty much on point. You will do just fine with that recipe. I live in a very dry environment and so it takes less days for me to put into jars but if you are at sea level yes, 5 to 6 days should do it.

Your journal and grow are an excellent resource and contribution Seraphim. I have appreciated following your efforts. It goes w/o saying that is one beautiful plant because of one heck of a keeper. As I've already mentioned, Tangilope is definitely on my bucket list to grow. Really looking forward to your smoke report, reveg updates, and future grows and journals. Thank you and cheers brah!

Thank You my Good Sir, for an exciting yet educational journal. Great documentation: Both well written and skilled photography. You know I'll be following along for the re-veg and smoke report...and what ever else you get into Seraphim!

+reps for a great 420 experience!

Thank you gentlemen. Glad to have you both along for the ride.

Tangilope is still hanging in there. No major changes since the last chop. I suppose she will need a few weeks at least to recover if in fact she recovers.

Cheers!

It's been a while since I stopped by, and I see you've been busy! Looking great. I really want to see what happens with that chop, I might try that sometime. I have a matured Khalifa Kush clone that's about 9 weeks into veg that was taken from a flowering mother. It has turned into an absolute bushy monster, you can check it out in my journal I just started. I'm willing to bet that your chopped Tangey ends up looking like that, which will make it the perfect mother.

Awesome job!

:high-five:

Thank you iluvsnow!

I just checked out your monster-cropped kush and the rest of your grow. Good stuff man! And congrats on your first grow/journal. You will love it!

UPDATE!!!

New Journal started! See here for new Journal.

Tangilope re-veg attempt. She has been looking like crap and worsening daily. Leaves croaked. Nothing moving forward. Until..... down at the bottom on the main stem there is some new growth!!! Small green leaves growing! It is too early to celebrate but there is hope this might work yet.

Thank you Budworshiper!! Same to you and to all!! :xmas::passitleft::xmas:
