Scrogdawg's White Widow Fem Grow

Did a reservoir change this morning and increased feeding to 1440µS (720 ppm). I've been topping up the ph each day to 6.1 and it drops to 5.7 by the next morning. Reservoir temperatures are getting warmer (up to 74⁰F) with the spring weather but the Z7 is controlling the fallout from that very well.

Three days ago all the plants shifted gears and started growing about an inch a day and consuming almost double the water and the nute concentrations began to drop, hence the res change and nute increase. These 4 plants layed out nicely with the LST and looks like they're going to make for a good scrog. I did a lot of tucking and folding today to get the light spread around but didn't take any fan leaves out. Day 45 of veg today and looks like I'll be flipping in about 15 days.

The Dinafem Cheese Auto looks healthy but sure seems to grow slow by comparison to photo plants. They say to top between 14 and 21 days. I'm at day 15 today and the third set of leaves are barely noticeable in the middle of the plant. Guess we'll see what happens with it?????

Outstanding. I had a severe root issue a few days ago. I pulled my plants and put them in soil. Two are rolling, the other two are still mopey.
So my thread is gonna have to be reclassified as a soil grow i guess. I have been seriously thinking about Z7. Ive never heard anything bad about it. But its $75 per unit. Hydroguard totally failed me this time.

Stoked for you Dawg. Everything looks great

I really like the Scrog net you built SD, I'm going to attempt to replicate it when I'm feeling a little braver. :welldone:Your plants look great and sound like they're drinking up those nutes exactly how you want them to at this stage, an inch a day is outstanding.

I was just wondering 2 things though. Firstly off topic do you or anyone else ever have issues (DWC and RDWC only) with Fungus Gnats ?
I have found 2 random bugs, 1 two weeks ago and another last night in my DWC setup running around the top of my res lid. I have the odd leaf with slightly eaten leaves, random brown dots etc. Is it common for these little pests to show up when running DWC with Hydroton (clay pebbles) as your medium, which btw is completely covered by a taped down reflective sheet ?
Secondly I was curious as to what lights you'll be using for your flowering ? :thanks:

Still six days to go for topping options on your little cheesie....you know shell hit her str8de soon enough. So do you always that your girls for 60 days? I got to say, every time I see a picture of your RDWC setup, it makes me drool LOL.

@Aussiegirl, I've heard that bugs in general don't particularly like the hydro grows. As far as I know, the fungus gnats like living in the soil. I doubt you have fungus gnats if you're growing in Hydroton.. ...as they require a moist base to lay eggs in.

Thanks Guy, :hugs: I did read that they only breed in soil or soil like substances, I just wasn't sure if I might still get issues because the hydroton does wick the moisture up a little in my setup and I see moisture in the clay pebbles. I'm going to drop the water level further from the bottom of my net pot now that my babygirl's roots are long enough to go swimming.

It might even have been an adult mature winged Aphid (black as it was) which are in my neighbors bushes in abundance, lots of sticky sugar deposits and a ton of black sooty mold all over his hedges.. I'll take a pic if I ever find another one before I get ☆squish happy☆ :slide: on a plus note my babygirl is growing steady and fast. :cheer:

Like Guy mentioned, I've never heard of a gnat problem in dwc.

I have two 400 watt Metal Halide lights set on an 18/6 schedule for veg. I'll switch the bulbs to High Pressure Sodium on a 12/12 schedule for flowering.

No, it just looks like the screen is going to be about 70% full at 60 days ish. I like to flip when the screen hits about 70%, it fills about right for flower if I do it that way.

Thank you for the feedback, :reading420magazine: I'll try and get a pic if one ever shows up again.. I won't be sad if no more show up though. :battingeyelashes: Wow so guessing these are the same lights you usually use in your grows, from reading your other threads, wow you get great results and yield from 400s. :welldone::adore:

Ps... Defeating Fungus Gnats in Your Hydroponics Indoor Garden - Rosebud Magazine Hydroponics Lifestyle Growing And Entertainment!

Got a pic of one of these little shits :yahoo:definately a fungus gnat, also found lots of cases online, a good article in the link I posted aswell. Just trying to be informative not a smarty pants, incase anyone else ever runs into my little problem. Fungus Gnats thrive in DWC setups if they can gain access to your medium, otherwise they will just show up and terrorise your leaves.

Thats a good read, and reminder. Thanks for the link Ag.

Its not just a matter of them gaining access, you also need a dwc reservoir that is dirty/slimy or otherwise conducive to breeding Fungus Gnats, in which case the gnats are the least of your problems. "Do" cover your lids, "don't" use organic fetilizers in dwc and "do" incorporate a root enzyme and you should never have an issue with fungus gnats.

This 6 gram Thai Stick is all that remains of the pound an a half of the MTTS that I grew last summer. Its been curing for eight months in a jar with a Boveda pack and still smells as fresh as the day it was chopped. I'm going to enjoy it on its one year cured anniversary.

You can easily get flying insects in hydro. Since the roots basically float they can live in the top strata of the root system. Are they root gnats? I dont know. But ive had flying bugs. Peroxide to the rescue. Be aware. If you do choose to use peroxide everything dies, ( not the plant if you play your cards right) incuding beneficials. You will need to flush and renute. This plant had flying bugs for a brief period

Looks beautiful. Those Boveda packs really do a great job.

Heres a comparison shot. The top picture was shot 4 days ago, the bottom picture was shot today. Feeding at 1440µS (720ppm) with General Hydroponics Flora Series nutrients under 2 x 400watt MH lights. These are producing a ton of tops. I haven't done much in the way of defol but have been tucking the fans down under to get the most light I can on the young tops. I'll be flipping in about 10 days and will do a proper defol about 3 days before I flip.
