Scrogdawg Does 3 Strains Under 800 Watts - Could Be A Trainwreck

Some Saturday afternoon randoms. Did a res change yesterday. EC 1440, PH 5.8.

Heading out to a wedding in a few. Figured I'd twist a couple for the evening, loaded up with White Widow and some of the bubble hash I've been hoarding from my last grow.

The White Widow looks to be right on track for a harvest in 10 days or so. Starting to see some clouding and an occasional amber but still lots of clear in there.

In the absence of anything worth while to report on the grow, I thought I would just make some observations both good and bad about the tent, the lights, ventilation and the RDWC system I built and am using for the first time with this grow.

Tent
  • 5'x5', works fine for the size of my grow.
  • Mars Hydro brand, middle of the road quality, it's not junk but its not Gorilla either.
  • I can comfortably work from 3 sides of it. 6'x6' would be ideal.
  • The Mylar material inside does a nice job of reflecting light.
  • Temps at the roof run 80 F during lights on with the exhaust fan running.
  • It has a couple of very small minor light leaks on 2 of the zippers but has never caused an issue.
  • 6'5" high, another foot would be nice.

Lights
  • 2x400 watt MH/HPS
  • Lots of light and generates good coverage for my 40"x40" scrog.
  • The HPS bulbs generate a lot of heat. Cooltubes saved the day, the only way to go with HPS.
  • COBS are in future plans.

Ventilation
  • 4" inline exhaust fan.
  • 4" generates a sufficient negative pressure in a 5x5 tent.
  • The carbon filter is inside the tent at roof level. It pulls air conditioned air in from outside the tent and runs it through both cooltubes and leaves the tent.
  • The exhaust fan is mounted outside the tent and the air is directed outside the house via a window in the room.
  • The fan is somewhat noisy and I find it mildly distracting most of the time.

RDWC System
  • 4x20 liter grow pails with a 47 liter external reservoir.
  • I had a 1000 gal/hr pump and switched it out to a 500 gal/hr. Still plenty big, 350 would be about right.
  • Very easy to fill/drain and maintain the water. 3/4" inlet side and 1.5" drain side.
  • Water temps cool to 66 F at night and will reach 71 F on the hot days.
  • Should have put in extra valves during construction to be able to isolate tanks if all 4 are not in use at the same time.
  • The Growboss continuous PH, EC, PPM, Temp monitor is some of the best money I've invested.
  • General Hydroponics 40 L/min air pump, runs quiet. 4 way manifold allows for 1x4" air stone in each grow pail and produces plenty of air to do its job.

Overall the whole thing has worked really well and I'm quite satisfied with it. I strive to run it with a PH of 5.8, an EC of 1.2 (720ppm) and water temp at 68 F during a grow. I use only RO water and am using the General Hydroponics Flora Series nutrients with Cal/Mg, Z7 and KoolBloom during Flower.

That about all I can think of right now. Any questions, ask away, I'll try to answer as best I can.
Thanks a bunch to everybody that hangs out in this journal whether its a little or a lot, much appreciated. You're a good bunch and a good hang.
