how much was it, and where?

It’s not cheap. 16.5 Gallon Deep Water Culture (DWC) Hydroponic Growing System Complete KitThat is SWEEEETTTTT

The ecoair1 is perfect for a 5gal bucket, works sweetChris I am pretty sure that I have the same pump right now, unless they throw different flow rates into the same body, but I didn't think it was enough for a 5 gal bucket?
One of the issues Im gonna have/am having with DWC is reservoir temperature. I am hoping that trying it in the winter would mitigate that, but I'm not sure if I could do it year round.
I am experimenting with growing this clone in what's essentially DWC. I can tell from pH adjusting just this little tub alone that doing it for multiple 5 gal pots would take me a while. I'm constantly adding too much up/down and it takes forever for it to settle out to get a stable reading, so based on that I'm not sure how well I would like DWC if I couldn't go without pH adjusting. I also have to keep a frozen bottle of water in it to keep it below 75f.
I'm also wondering how many 5 gal DWC buckets I should try to fit in a 4 x 4 if they really get that big?
My basic priority/objective here is: How to yield more, never pH again, and not break my back.
The never pH'ing is probably one I know I will have to bend on, so part of me feels like I should just bite the bullet and do the little extra work, if DWC really yields that much more it may be worth it, though being tied to them during flower is something I am not so good at.
I suppose trying one DWC bucket along with some hempys wouldn't hurt?
The other factor here is I kinda suck at soil growing, so I wonder if I would surpass my old yield with hempy buckets just by merit of it being easier. I'm maxing out at 1.25 ounces per plant in 5 gallon buckets with soil, and averaging maybe less than 1 oz. Out of 4-6 pots, I have routinely got only 4-6 ounces in my 4x4 space. I'd throw more light in there but can't really run a stronger light sense my apartment has messed up electricity.

I use hydroguard and z7 for goopies, my water temps are 78-80deg, ambient is about the same
I've yet to have goop or heat temps in my DWC, the hydroguard and z7 is why
I also never chase pH in the 5gal DWC, just the bigger tubs, which I won't use again for a full grow
I'd say 4-5 DWC in a 4x4, mine is also and easily that, unless they are like my 1st one...lol
Easy easy easy is Hempy. 3gal or bigger would easily yield 3+oz each with a good veg time and training.
6 in a 4x4 would be easy for sure
What nutes do ya use??
I'd say focus on lights as wellI used GH FloraNova, Fox Farms Beastie Budz and ChaChing, with Humboldt Crystal Burst first time. Second and third time, I switched the Fox farms and Humboldt County out for Growmore Hawaiian Bud and Bloom. Fourth and fifth time I used EarthJuice's organic 5 part line, lots of ACTs. Then finally my last two runs were water only in a soil mix I made.
I am looking at AN's simple 3 part ph perfect lineup because its only 30 bucks and if I truly don't have to adjust pH with it, that sounds perfect. Otherwise I am thinking of osmocote+
Not to disrespect organics... But I never even touched the quality and yield I got with the GH/GM/FF synthetics when I tried the organics. My thoughts were to go back to basics, and do a GH grow in Happy Frog, since that's basically what I am most used to, but I just don't expect to get any extra yield and the flora nova gets so salty that I have to flush the pots out every 4 weeks. So I figure it's time to move on from soil in general.
If I can get the same or better yield with hempy I'm all about it. I found one of your posts where you tried out DWC and saw how huge your plant got and figured that might be the best way for me to maximize my yield.
I'm planning on running with a 3100k 315 W CMH for the whole 4x4 space. Most people are running 2 of these lamps in the same space. But my other option is 400W HPS, so either way I think I need to maximize what my plants can do with the light they're given.
I have been thinking about dropping down in tent size to improve light intensity, but it seemed like the sacrifice in pot space would be too much with only 1 oz off a 5gal bucket. However if I could expect 2-3 then I would be easily doubling my harvests even with 3-4 pots. Wonder if I could squeeze that into a 3x3?
Wish I could run both of them! The CMH is pretty great, excellent light penetration, but yeah I keep hearing it's better suited to a 3x3 than 4x4 so I think I'm gonna have to downsize. Only way to increase my light intensity. Just not sure I can wait long enough to get a new tent before I need to start up. Clones off this wicked outdoor ATF I have going will be ready in September and I'd have to skip those in lieu of a seed grow if I saved for a tent. So that's a toooouugh dilemma. I'll probably just cycle over into a new tent next run.I'd say focus on lights as well
Not sure how CMH works, but maybe do that and the HPS
No way you can fill the tent with just one of those lights, but if you do use one then just do what will fully fit under that footprint
I used the AE sensi pH perfect nutes
I liked em but I did battle the pH since 1/2 strength nutes is plenty so the pH never got down to or below 6.0 where I wanted it
No need to downsize yer tent, just put the plants in the lights footprint, easy peasyWish I could run both of them! That's interesting you have to use a lot of them to get the pH buffering effect. I am thinking of giving osmocote a try if I have routinely pH. Docbud use to do it in hempy and I think Tead still does. So no shortage of information, and it seems cheap and easy.
You should check out Haystack's recent "I'm trying out CMH" journal if you're interested in CMH. He killed it with them, and it's a short and sweet one.
LolCongrats on the seeds. Fruity jack looks awsome. I just panicked and picked lemon. I think the whole free seeds thing broke my brain.
I'll send you a clone. It will be in the middle of a 1-800-flowers bouquet.lol! No one will ever know.
