I did look at those as well and one review said they did work for gnats. He broke it up into pieces and watered it in. It was only one review and it didn't specifically state gnats. However, you're number two now, so in da cart day go! :thanks:

@carcass swears by the stuff. It's dissolved into his nute water and eliminates the problem with no muss, no fuss, no sand, no microscopic fibers.
 
They work great.
 
DE doesn't work when wet, so I think it's less effective than gnat-nix.

I think it would be a conbo of what Pman said. DE mixed with perlite. I'll add the MB's(not to be confused with Magical Butter machines) first, water, then top dress with perlite/DE. After I'll add the DE on top of existing perlite after watering.

I thought you were doing an experiment. I assumed you were paying attention on my journal when I went through the same thing recently and purchased bt bits on the recommendation of @carcass.
