Sapperman's Super Sweet 2nd Grow M3 Soil- Organic -Water Only- Originally Sour Diesel

Re: sappermans super sweet 2nd grow M3 soil, organic, water only, originally sour die

Sub'd.
Check ppm & pH.
Using lots of potassium too early? Probably not. Looks like Mag deficiency. If you little brown spots you know.
You've better than me on here so just mho.

My two cents - that are worth about two cents.

When you flush the lower the PPM of the water you use to flush, the better. The pH will be low if the PPM is low. It is the stuff that is dissolved in the water that changes the pH.

When you flush you are using the very simple chemistry principal of diffusion. Things move from higher concentration to lower concentration until they reach equilibrium, right? Very simple stuff. Water will run out the drain holes before you ever reach equilibrium. This will fix pH issues. The less PPM the water has when it goes in the more effective it will be in removing the things you want to get out.

There is an over-emphasis on pH hereabouts with soil growers. So long is what goes in is between 6.0 and 7.0 in soil you don't have much to worry about. What soil growers need to understand is that nutrients do not move naturally into the roots. They are all ions and are helped by protein transporters. The same transporters move more than one thing. If there is too much of one nutrient or all nutrients they compete against each other for transport. The transporters move what is easiest to grab onto. If there is one thing that is there in great abundance, or everything is in too much abundance the transport proteins only move the things that are easiest to grab and move. I call it too much traffic on the highway. A traffic jam.

What I'm talking about is competitive inhibition. One thing outcompetes the others for transport... The best way to fix this problem is with a good flush.

Strains are different. One may be fine in a traffic jam, and others won't.

That soil you use seems to be good stuff, Sap. It has given you great results. Why would you add cal/mag? Cal/mag is putting more traffic on the road! Did you use it last go around? The results last time were pretty impressive...

I like this pH chart much more than the one that is commonly circulated...

Re: sappermans super sweet 2nd grow M3 soil, organic, water only, originally sour die

That one was shared by potchimp and is specific to hemp. It is a lot less intimidating than the one with the pretty colors that is passed around here like a three dollar whore. The pretty one with all the colors is great for justifying a pH of 6.5. Unfortunately it makes it look like if you are not very exact you lock something out... That isn't the case. The chart I showed you tapers off uptake for variations of pH - much more realistic. If you look at both charts side by side, you will see that they are very similar. Whoever made the pretty one used software that didn't deal with tapering. My theory is they whacked things off arbitrarily when they began to taper.

It doesn't take into account that the various nutrients are needed at various levels - the plant does not need the same amount of everything...

In your case we know that any problems are not due to a lack of available nutrients in the soil. You had a good run with the same soil last grow - a very good run...

Current issues are much more likely related to too many things trying to squeeze into the opening of a revolving door. Only the biggest and most aggressive nutrients are getting in. The others are getting shoved aside.

I'm still struggling with how to explain these concepts in layman's terms. Any feedback you can give is much appreciated. :peace:

Re: sappermans super sweet 2nd grow M3 soil, organic, water only, originally sour die

Well i got 1/2 my plants transferred to 5 gal pots. I skiped on the promix this time all together other than a thin layer between the roots and the M3. Dew to this i didnt have enough M3 to do all 6 plants. Time to hit my favorite store!!!!!!!

Re: Sapperman's Super Sweet 2nd Grow M3 Soil- Organic -Water Only- Originally Sour Di

Ok first off im sorry for being away for a while some personal issues. Now on to the plants. There getting big but havind a few issues still and 1 new one. First off no bugs this time witch i think is because i started from seed. Now i am still having a small issue of the last but it seems to be minimal now. I started adjusting the ph down to between 5.5 and 6.5 that seemed to help. The new issue is with 1 plant all the new groth is going yellow. Not to bad but im worried.

Re: Sapperman's Super Sweet 2nd Grow M3 Soil- Organic -Water Only- Originally Sour Di

How far is your plant from the light source and what light source are you using? The leaf damage in your last photographs is either from heat stress, light stress or a problem with the nutrient uptake.

Re: Sapperman's Super Sweet 2nd Grow M3 Soil- Organic -Water Only- Originally Sour Di

Almost all the plants are taller than that one and are closer to the light. All get the same ph water and same amount and all runoff test the same ph also. And all plants have had all the same stuff. Same soil same light same water same calmag (witch didnt make any difference). Im stumped! Thinking mabe i should flush that 1 plant.

Re: Sapperman's Super Sweet 2nd Grow M3 Soil- Organic -Water Only- Originally Sour Di

You may either have a weak plant or your pot medium needs to be flushed with at least twice the volume of pH adjusted water as pot size.

Re: Sapperman's Super Sweet 2nd Grow M3 Soil- Organic -Water Only- Originally Sour Di

Yes I would use at least 10 gallons of pH adjusted water per 5 gallon size pot to flush the growing medium.
