Vegetable oil works far better than alcohol or acetone. A few minutes of washing with oil to cut the resin, then dish soap and hot water to cut the oil and rinse.

I don't have an alternative but I do have a tip on cutting down on unnessasary waste when using Iso. An empty lighter fluid bottle works great for squirting out small amounts for cleaning. The one with the tiny little flip up spout.
