@JonSorry, didn't mean to waste yours.
Ha! Not at all man! Just must have come across the wrong way in the written word. Everything I say to you is with a smile on my face, my man! Sorry if my responses feel "tetchy" (don't know that word but I get what you mean, lol), I don't at all mean them to. I don't feel anything negative in the least and I welcome your commentary/suggestions/education share. Always, man, always. Please DON'T shut the fuck up. Honestly man I need EVERYONE'S input. Cool?@Jon
Your not wasting my time.. the info you give is amazing.
But I have to wonder, why your responses feel a little tetchy.?
Am I bothering you at all matey?
My gut feeling is that you want me to shut the f*** up and read more as opposed to making a post or 10?
what say you brother?
peace to ya.
And by the way, I really appreciate you asking me directly about that. A lot of people wouldn't. I'm a huge fan of direct, simple communication like that. Makes everything easier. Directness is the way to go. And that said, if I ever piss you off for any reason I hope you'll tell me. I would do the same. You never have to wonder where you stand with me, I promise. That's the beauty of direct communication, eh?@Jon

Stunning my friend. Who knew you were that talented. I thought you only grew great pot, beautiful garden.Nice one @Jon
Appreciated.. I like the direct communication, I’m far to straight to the point for most folk.
naive and foolish at times though.
I’ve actually been enjoying trying to think up nice shit to say everyday. Probably more than the grow. Who knew?...
I’m certainly not usually so extra polite. I’ve been running a business for 20 yrs, wouldn’t of lasted 6 months without a bit of bite to my bark matey.
Im genuine about only growing for a year, it’s not the only gardening I’ve ever done, so I’m not totally naive to the general processes of plants and growing.
I built a veg patch about 12yr ago, out in the back. The idea was to get the kids all keen and interested and learn a bit myself.. As you can imagine,, kids just fucked me off, so I had a veg patch to tend myself.
Not a big one mind, just enough to grow a bit of fruit, potatoes and seasonal veg.
Gone to s***the last couple of seasons as I’ve had a few health issues and I’ve had to be a bit more selective on where my times spent.
Got some kale and purple sproutin broccoli bolted there early pollinators at least enjoying them. weathers crazy,
Peace to ya mate.
Ha,ha. Thank you @Bill284 .Stunning my friend. Who knew you were that talented. I thought you only grew great pot, beautiful garden.
When in veg it's OK for them to look a little needy, but you don't want it to get out of control either. Lots of people will says "less is more" but I find that really depends on the strain and phenotype itself. I personally would rather slowly ramp up nute feed until I see the slightest bit of tip burn, but I wouldn't go over recommended doses unless I seen a deficiency, then I would need to determine what it needs and which bottle or feed is best to give for that deficiency.Hey mate, thanks for getting back.
That was my plan for now.
is it better to wait for them to look a bit needy in the feed department? Rather than trying to ease off when there’s too much?
This is the 4th run of autos I’ve done , an I’m pretty sure I nut fecked the first 2.
The best run was my last run. I laid off the nuts, feeding every other day with a phd water in between feeds. The Northern lights, jackpot and blackberry definitely responded better to less nuts.. in the end I couldn’t help myself and gave them full doses.. 2 of the NL, the jackpot and blackberry respond without any hiccups. 2 NL didn’t like it.
Leaves me scratching my head, as to why it was only the same strain that reacted differently.
No doubt, something I’d done or missed earlier. But no clue what it was matey.
Another thing that I’ve noticed in my grow environment. Is that, everything looks healthier and perkier when they get a watering every other day. Not everyday as seems to be the advise for coir.
Cheers for taking the time @dick23rk
I wouldn't be worried about this yet. Sometimes new growth will have pale spots or even random yellow spots. I'll try and remember to snap a picture later of one funny leaf I have in the room right now.
Wow man thanks for the response. You rock. I am also not nearly as polite as I show on here. I'm 55 and when I communicate it is with a purpose and I don't have the time nor the inclination for games or drama. So I'm direct as hell in real life and sometimes to a fault I guess cuz sometimes people misinterpret directness for rudeness, which it never is. Pussies. If you can't keep up, please get out of the way. Right? Anyway, nice garden. Betcha that thing looks sweet as hell when you have it operating at it's peak. Love to see an older picture if you have one of that same garden when you had it humming and before you fucked it all up. (, lol). So yeah, man, keep being your direct self with me at least. I ain't gonna melt if you tell me I'm screwing something up or whatever, but if you do be prepared for my to really drill you with questions about WHY. Ha. You say mate and cheers as common greetings. Are you in Australia or from there? If so show me some cool Australian outback pics or something! Any weed grow wild in Australia?Nice one @Jon

Oh, and yes, I forgot your question. In MY opinion it's definitely better to start low with the nutes and work up. They'll never look "needy" for nutes cuz you'll never let them be nute free long enough for leaves to yellow or something from LACK of nutes. So the way you know you can bump the nutes up is easy. Within 48 hours MAX of a watering with nutrients in it, you will see the signs on the plant if the concentration was too high. That can be, in my experience, one of two things: either something horrible that'll kill the affected leaves and will suck (if you went WAY too hard with the nutes) OR it'll just be yellow tips. I never worry about a few yellow tips. See @Emilya's post on yellow tips from recently for more on that, it'll tell you all you need to know. So I go like this:Nice one @Jon

Thanks for taking the time @dick23rk .When in veg it's OK for them to look a little needy, but you don't want it to get out of control either. The thing with your NL's could have been that they weren't the same phenotype. Generally there are more than 1 phenotype, sometimes lots if not bred out properly, and they can act differently than their brothers and sisters when it comes to nutrients and such. Sometimes even growing all 1 strain from seed doesn't go as planned cause they will act differently. If you want every plant to act the same and take the exact same feeds, cloning is the way to go.
Watering every other day does have its benefits. When you use plain water, just be sure to ph it before hand. When I was using my GH lineup of bottled nutes, I would use a feed, feed, water schedule, every 3rd was just ph'd water. The watering will help remove any built up salts from synthetic nutes and give the plant a chance to use any remaining nutrients that are still in the medium from the previous 2 feeds.
I wouldn't be worried about this yet. Sometimes new growth will have pale spots or even random yellow spots. I'll try and remember to snap a picture later of one funny leaf I have in the room right now.
This is not nute burn, if it were, every fan leaf would show a rusty burnt tip on each finger.
Have to agree matey.. be as cocky as y like. You’ve got some quality goin on there.Oh, and yes, I forgot your question. In MY opinion it's definitely better to start low with the nutes and work up. They'll never look "needy" for nutes cuz you'll never let them be nute free long enough for leaves to yellow or something from LACK of nutes. So the way you know you can bump the nutes up is easy. I never worry about a few yellow tips. See @Emilya's post on yellow tips from recently for more on that, it'll tell you all you need to know. So I go like this:
- If I nute water and get ZERO yellow tips or signs on the leaves, I bump UP the nutes a little bit.
- If I nute water and get yellow tips I leave the nute level where it is and do NOT raise it.
- If I nute water and get worse than yellow tips I flush the plants and immediately back the nutes back down.
You know my experience level. But that's what I do and it seems to work. I burned plants from over nute-ing both my first grow and this grow. I'm done with that shit. The only reason it happens is because I get IMPATIENT and want to STUFF nutes in them as fast and as much as possible. NO REASON to do that, ESPECIALLY in veg. You see my plants. Not to be a cocky asshole but they speak pretty damn well for themselves using the approach I describe above.
For what it's worth!

If anyone’s a foody... I can assure you my plumb and mulled pear crumble tastes as good as @Bill284 ‘s garden looks.Hey man
Thanks again, an yeah I can indeed.
I can show you the decking getting built on the other side if you like
Or take a pic of my thumb so you know it’s me mate.
Mate an cheers more of a northern U.K. thing.
WHOA. Now THAT IS WHAT THE FUCK I'M TALKING ABOUT, as some of us say on this side of the pond. That is SUPER impressive and frankly what I expected from you but WOW to see it is awesome. That first pic is amazing. They all are. Amazing infrastructure and setup too independent of the plants. WOW.Hey man

Soo, that light doesn't fold up? Dam. That's gotta suck. But it's a nice light none the less.Hey @Jon @dick23rk
I wish I could share your enthusiasm for getting a shiny new light.
However....
I’ve got to get this fucker
Through my pre built extra security ( nothing fancy, a metal bar an a padlock)wall an door.
I’m draggin my heels, as it’s another job to do,( this is one I don’t want)
Posts and frame out will do it.. but fme, I’m a nug...
biggest An bestest light I could get for the money. Mmmmm. Maybe I’m trying to over compensate for my small shoes
Damn you I'm so jealous. The 1700e Pro, right? That was my first choice but I couldn't justify the expense and I hated that all the remotes and parts are sold separately. But I know all about it and BRAVO that's the shit. Please let me know how powerful it is in reality and how close you can get it to the plants and heat and such, okay? I LOVE that light. When people ask me about mine I tell them it compares favorably to that light, which it does in certain ways. But the build quality in your hands is way superior to mine. And the spectrum is similar but yours is a bit closer to actual sun and has a bit more power I think. DAMN YOU.Hey @Jon @dick23rk

Thanks buddy.. been a work in progress out ther for years. The gardens the best room in the house for me.. if I didn’t have a secret jardin, I wouldn’t be inside the house till it’s cold again.. I’m working on that though. Get some heating an lights on the go at the back by the shed an I’ll be set for the colder months too.WHOA.
