Roughneck 102 - Hempy Bucket - Lemon Kush - 2015

Yeah I was looking for something really simple low maintenance and then Peyton came to my rescue with this style of growing...my first attempt at growing was with bag seed and soil and I had so much trouble with nutrient deficiencies which in the defence of soil medium I work in the oilfield and don't have time to give the plants the attention they need for soil...with hempy I can water and give them a quick check and fill the res before I leave to work and they will be fine for a few days...I just recently left them alone by themselves for five days while I left for vacation came back and they were hurting really bad for water and nutrients but when I left them alone for 2 and a half days in soil they died

Oh definitely major issue was they were in mg and had a growing magnesium deficiency that I couldn't get under control soo I tried flushing then two different times I was later told that by flushing them I kept releasing more of the time released nutrients mg contains...so it ultimately resulting in their death...from what I've been told mg has 3 major problems time released nutrients suffocates the roots and poor soil quality...I like 100% perlite because it's a neutral medium contains nothing that can hurt ur girls unless it's something u introduce to them

No soil in hempy. There's perlite, coco coir, and then a mix of the two. But with coco you have to worry about toxic salt buildup and buffering the pH. Perlite is inert, so it's easiest to use.

Roughneck, glad to hear you have a good problem. I'll be here to help you with all the training and whatnot. Can't wait to see how they look in their new home. Get that canopy flat and there's a few setups on here that can get CFL bulbs crammed in there

Yeah that's what I meant by soil coco coir just didn't feel like typing it out :) but I guess I should since it's not soil...me too bro finally on my way having fun and haven't even started on the fun stuff yet...where might I find the cfl set ups cuz I want something like a floating light rack I think I might construct one maybe draw it out take some pics off drawing let me know if it will work

Thought I posted these already my bad...one is short and bushy other one is tall and branchy

Go take look at the first page of my first grow Journal. I made a 10 bulb CFL Light Hood for about $75.00, could have been done for much cheaper.

I can take picture of the inside for you if you want. I thought I already had photo's of it on here but I guess not.

Here is what it looks like.

Yeah I remember I was going through ur first journal again about two weeks ago and seeing this picture...but Hell yeah bro that looks like a sweet set up, definitely looks like it utilizes all the light...if u don't mind taking a few pics and a description of how u did it and list of materials that would be greatly appreciated man cuz I'm headed to home depot tomorrow to pick up supplies and I want something that doesn't look thrown together like what u have cuz I'm going to be using this for a while until things pick up at work and I can get an led...kinda looks like metal ducting for ac air ducts but that's about all I can tell

Yeah man it would be my pleasure. I should have them up before the day ends.

It is some kind of ducting, but it was already cut in half. I will hit up Ace Hardware on my way to the grow room and take down the names of the stuff I grabbed.

I love my CFL Hood, and I am extremely happy with how great it works. It could also look way nicer, but I didn't have the correct tools for cutting wood on hand so its all a little uneven. Hence the tape.

Here is a quick blue print of what it looks like plus all (I think) of the materials I used. I am about to leave to go check my grow so I will snap some pictures shortly.

Of course dude! And thanks, drawing is a strong suit of mine being in Architecture School, who woulda known school and marijuana would ever be so relatable! Worlds collide :cheesygrinsmiley: :cheesygrinsmiley:

Anyways, just stopped by ace, found out it's called "galvanized stove piping" I got the 12" and it fit mine perfectly. Brought my DSLR to the grow room so I'll take some nice pics of my hood. Here's a phone pic I snapped of the stove piping.

Hope that helps my man! :cheesygrinsmiley:
