Ripe Tops not so ripe bottoms

The question is How would you suggest harvesting the the TOP and and ripe buds while letting the buds on the bottom which received less light continue to grow, until maturity. after flushing would you put them back on Nutes until ready and flush again or just cut the whole thing down and Hash it. Any suggestions

I usually will cut off the main and let the lower go another week ( which is one maybe two waterings) with plain water.... If they need food, I would go with an organic at low strength, and give it at least one good flush before you harvest the bottom....
