Rifleman's - Multi-Strain Auto Grow - 600W - Hydro

Barbed wire is a joke. Nothing stops the morons. They see what they want they just plow on through to get it. I'm not a milk drinker so I wouldn't have them except it is so easy to turn them out, wait a year or two, and call the butcher. Nearly free meat.

It is all about being self supporting here at The Roost. That and being cheap...real cheap. Lol

Classy work, Rifleman. Thanks for doing it. I'm looking forward to the rest of the journey =)

You grow 'em I'll slice 'em ;)

Nice job on the DIY too.

We have an awesome collective ability to take a thread about 42 miles down a meaningless road for purely entertainment purposes.
I'm feeling megalomaniacal (wow! spell check included megalomaniac!) today.... let us loose the mighty powers among the sea of thread!
Sisters... Brothers.... let us lay down our water bucket, take up our keyboards and strike! Hit them in the FAQ thread. Take them down in the hydro threads. Let confusion and merriment dance in the lighting threads.
We need a spy..... anyone know a corrupt mod? What???? They'll all corrupt you say?!?! Collect them for our intelligence gathering needs.
Perhaps you have friends that are unaware of our efforts. Bring them in and spread our word.

Morning folks. :) I have some thirsty girls on my hands. BK has drank 8.5 quarts since Sunday evening. She has also taken over the smell dept. I don't know of any other way to describe it other than sweet buttermilk. I'm just getting ready for Winter, knitting sweaters for the chickens (extra tight so they can't hide weapons, still don't trust them), and splitting fire wood.

Everything is in a holding pattern waiting on the girls to get fat. I'm going to try my point and shoot camera after lights out, so maybe some photos later. I'll be finishing up the tote project today too before it turns off too cold to paint.

BTW, I don't remember if I mentioned it but the light went to 750w back on Nov 10th. Around that time my little experiment also sprouted. It's maybe 3 " now and no roots through the basket yet. The ph is holding around 8.3 to 8.5.

OR SO I THOUGHT Here is a lesson I learn over and over again. CALIBRATE ! PH pen was reading about 0.6 high. :whoa: smh
Anyone own a quality ph pen that stays somewhat calibrated? Brand? Tempted to invest in a permanent probe ph, tds, temp, etc, in my new reservoir. Anything to make this easier. :)

Nice DIY res instructions...

Question if you don't mind -- so do you drain your res through the "air inlets" and if not what do you use to drain?

I've been using a submersible pump + 5 gal bucket wet-vac, but have been considering installing some valves on my res for draining... My current approach works well, but I'm always looking for something faster + easier and I'm a little concerned that valves might leak.

Thanks

Back to the cow subject, a few years back my brother got woke up at like 3:00 am by the doorbell, he looked outside the window to see a sheriff's vehicle parked out front of his home. He started to freak, thinking crap they found my grow and I am going to jail. He gained his composure and went down and answered the door, the sheriff says, Pardon me sir but your cows are out on the road.:partyboy:

I usually pick my girls up and put them in another bucket. Then I just carry the old one to the shower to dump it. I'm careful moving the air inlets, which I do use to pull water samples for testing, due to the plastic elbows used. I don't want to break one of them and make a mess. I have a battery op stick pump that I use to pump water into my buckets sometimes, usually when just adding a few quarts of so, damn thing is slow.

Day 51

A few quick photos this morning. Not the best, and I'm not going to label them either. My grow space has no other light than my hps so this is as good as it gets for now. I have to ride to the back 100 today and check on the barn, I'll grab my halogen shop lights while I'm there and see if that helps. Have a green day everyone, I have chores that I need to start so I'm firing up the tractor...right after I smoke this.:blunt:

p.s. Yep the photos are linked to larger versions. :)
