Think this is one of my gardening anthems

Hit me up with some of yours, get the groove going

Took delivery of new seeds yesterday. Will have 5 wedding cake, 1 gelato and 1 big bud going in tomorrow morning.

In a bit of a quandary with the planting. Have been growing photos for the past 16 years, this is my first run with autos. Would normally have a smaller tent on the go, start seeds under 100w cfl for the first 10 days or so and the move to bigger pots and a brighter light.

5 blue dreams are already going in the tent under a 500w HPS. Have been advised that i do not want to repot autos, should start them in the final bag. Here lies my problem.

I've got seedlings started and well into veg with HPS before, not really too worried about whacking them into the already running tent, just understand its not ideal.

Please could I have some advice on whether starting an auto in a small pot under propagating lights and conditions and then moving to a bigger pot once started is a bad idea?

As I understand it there are auto growers who do uppot a couple of times during their grows, and if they're gentle enough to avoid transplant shock don't have any problems.
I've only grown one auto myself, and it seemed to handle transplant just like any other.

Lol send a link for the thread please mate. Always having a sing song whilst gardening

I've gone for the smaller pot method, will update with some pics tomorrow. Have been dropping aforementioned THC lean into Stella Artois since 5pm, little bit squiffy this end.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment, appreciate it mate

There's a link in my sig, but here you go!
Interested to see you grow these!

After the hubbub of whether to repot autos/use propagation tent and lights I’ve ended up with not a lot of choice anyway.

The cost of living crisis here in Narnia has meant electricity bills doubled this month, with a 2 year old and another on the way in August, as much as I’d like to fire up the other tent no can do

As such the new pips I got on Wednesday are now in the tent rocking and rolling. Again it’s not ideal but going with what I can work with. I know some might recoil in horror at using HPS during these early stages but I’ve done it before, hopefully pull it off again

\Flushing is bad now???

People are no longer advised to steal their wife's/girlfriend's/mother's/sister's birth control pills and add them to the water in order to get more female plants, either. Whodathunkit? ;)

Lol. Never tried that one but think I'm going to stick with flushing still. Old habits die hard ;)

Seeds have started popping up, have 3 so far, fingers crossed for the others. Have plastic cupped them as like I’ve previously said they are under the 500w HPS, just a bit too harsh at this early stage for them. Hard trying to balance light for other older plants and the newbies but we’ll get there

Been rotating the older Blue Dreams on the left. All starting to look a bit more uniform and starting to hit their stride, think I might be falling in love with autos

Hope all reading this are well and that you’re having a good week

Hey nice start and Hela different types of greenery... So for autos I never start in cup or transplant... I always start them in forever homes 3+ gallon....some say it won't stress then to bad...but with autos you have limited time to make up mistakes, so I just avoid it.

And in my experience autos will grow under any amount of light strong or weak...I'm growing under a 95w and 80w for three autos and they don't seem to mind the lighting. But I do shuffle them around in tent daily so they each get semi even lighting.

Thanks mate appreciate it, it's been a whole new learning curve with this one but enjoying it so far. Think if you go back and have a look at some of the earlier pics can see what plants did well in the transplant and which didn't. I'm going to go for the one bucket for life next time round once these are done.

Will defo head over to your garden and have a look at what's happening, any advice is always helpful

Cheers for stopping by mate, glad to have you here

Lol the only curve with autos is the speed....you don't have time for mistakes... I think that's why I like them over photos, give me more time with something I'm bond to mess it up... But yea I see what you mean about how some got root shocked... But they will recover no worries.

But I'm no expert in growing....not yet ;) but I grow autos pretty well and without to many issues if any, so any questions feel free to ask.

What’s the consensus on defoliation with autos? Used to be one of my go to techniques when growing photos, have got some big fan leaves blocking out bottom bud branches that would have been chopped already save for me thinking of asking you lot.

Any ideas?

I did think that, straight between the legs Silence of The Lambs style lol

They’re quite big, might be a challenge. Would you advise against a defo?
I don't like taking leaves off. I figure the plant will drop it when she doesn't need it anymore.

Seeds have been in a week, the Big Bud and one of the Wedding Cakes didn’t pop, have 4 Wedding Cake and a Gelato

Have left the non starters in there for tonight, fingers crossed but not a lot of hope

The Blue Dreams are at 3 weeks today, really happy with their progress so far. They look a bit ropey in the photos, have tucked some of the fan leaves downwards to get the bud sites out.

Once I’ve repotted seedlings will check space and possibly order another 5 the next week or so

Happy Friday everyone, off for a well earned beer
