Remove fan leaves ?

Should be removing the big fan leaves ? I'm thinking the big 4 leaves on each of the 5 purple kush,s. The other one is a Meridian sour and I don't think that one needs it.They are about 4.5 weeks old. Also, do they look too short for that age ? They are auto flowers.

Personally I don't defol.
Especially on small girls just starting.
I grow them big and fast, filling my pots with bigger rootballs.
Then in flower I remove everything not getting light.
So now I have a big rootball, large enough for a massive plant in flower.
And a big healthy plant.
There are situations where it's necessary I agree.
Rh or spacial issues.
But for now you have space and no issues, I'd leave her to grow.
Besides those big fans provide energy for growth.
Just 2 cents. ;)

Edit: @Fenderbender just mentioned they are autos, yeiks.
Don't mess with them, let them grow big and fast.
It's the best way to improve your harvest with an auto.
Grow a big one. :thumb:

No. Keep in mind that the plant makes its own 'food' using photosynthesis which takes place in the leaves. Remove those leaves and the plant will start to grow new ones in an attempt to balance the photosynthesis with the amount of plant that has to be fed.

When the plant goes into flower it will stop growing new fan leaves and concentrate on growing the flower buds. If there are no longer enough fan leaves for the levels of photosynthesis needed to support the increase in bud development then the buds will suffer both in quantity and quality.

They are auto-flowers at "about 4.5 weeks old" and one of them looks like it has already started to flower and most likely the rest are less than a week away from starting. As far as fan leaves are concerned what we see in the photos is about all the plants will have from here on out.

Pretty much when leaves would be removed happens when there are so many that those below or deep in the canopy are not getting enough light to remain productive as far as photosynthesis is concerned.

Do you think I should be giving that Meridian sour thats gone into flower some 284 bloom ?
I would be giving each of them the Bloom fertilizer and not just the one that has started to grow some stigma/pistils. The others will be starting to show buds before long and if the flowering nutrients are already available it helps them get off to a better start.
