Growing yer own munchies, I mean veggies, they look awesome.:thumb:

Have you ever got hibiscus to seed? I've been playing around, trying to manually cross pollinate my hibiscuses. No seeds yet. Not sure if it does seed. I know it clones easily as hell. But I wanna make a hybrid or something, ya know?

Stuffed bell peppers!! I did that on Saturday HA, easiest, tastiest meal when you are baked off your arse
I envy your veggy garden Les, some fresh lemonade sounds off the chain.. How is the orange tree doing?
I ended up putting a couple tbsp of that earth juice high P guano at the bottom of the tree. Figured, i'm counting 200+ oranges easy this year and was hoping the guano gives them that extra bump :) +reps sir! :peace: CA

Hi Sir, No I have not ever got the habiscus to seed, nor have I thought about it. Sounds interesting if you could get some neat crosses going, perhaps make a color that isn't normally seen. Again, with any breeding process, it's a lot of work :wood:

The peppers are a great meal, I love the feeling of going out to the garden and picking off a important part of dinner from the plant, something WE grew. I don't have my own cows or pigs, but damn , plants are rewarding. Gonna alter the recipe a bit this weekend and add a little extra marijuana sauce (marinara).

Thank you for envying my garden, That means a lot to me! :) Every year I try to make it better and better, and next year I want to do just that! But since every year is not the same, it's hard to get a consistent result! It is what it is.. and we'll see when we see!

Yeah the lemon tree is a "Dwarf" but has so much fruit on it at once that a lot of it sometimes goes to waste, the neighbors all got lemon trees too so we can't give them away! LOL, and they're so juicy only 3 of them make a full pitcher of lemonade, great stuff for sipping and wandering the garden. Funny you ask about my favorite orange tree (the Valencia), I fertlized it with a little TigerBloom to jumpstart the small blooms I saw, and later added some bat guano too, and now I'm seeing oranges! Can't wait to concoct some home-made Screwdrivers this month.

Thanks for stopping by and Cheers!:circle-of-love:

Sweet thread Lester! You have one helluva green thumb! Your cat is adorable too. That is crazy that his mouth can open so so wide!

Thank you very much!:thanks:

Concoct any mid month screwdrivers? :;): How's the veggie garden coming along Les?
My tomato plants seems to be bumming it right now, haven't had a fresh site in two weeks, the flowers keep burning off before they can get through their stage.. Don't know what's going on, thinking about pulling and replanting for a mid summer re harvest :)
Hope all is well :peace: CA

Everything is coming to a slow halt. Strawberry production is minimized, the tomato plants produced all they could and now and died, I had to rip them all out of the ground yesterday because they were rotting with botyritis!! Only Feet away from my forced flowers so I had to be careful.

Other than that we do have a large next batch of green peppers coming in, and still some carrots growing. We let the green beans go to seed so we can harvest the seeds. The Lettuce is flowering as well, Could plant some more lettuce for a winter crop, need to plant more raddishes and lettuce for the winter.

Other than that we're just waiting for the heirloom brocolli to grow. It takes like a year to produce its head, those will be the showcase brocolli I hope. I will take some pictures later of what's left over. But other than that I've been waiting for oranges but they're juts too damn high on the tree to get them, even with the 10 foot pole I have!

:peace:

Howdy Fellow Gardeners, just some shots of my beloved, warm and cozy garden, so far looks like we won't harvest the brocolli until next year ;) We'll see though!...

That's all for now folks, hope all your gardens are better than mine! :)

Diggin that pic of the lettuce buds! Trippy!
Planning on growing some lettuce here soon, salads are getting spendy eating them every other day..
Any pointers? I was looking in the site mentioned earlier and they have a "heatwave" blend of lettuce that sounds interesting, it has been staying really hot around here lately and thought that could help combat it..
Also, don't know if this was mentioned earlier or asked, how do you go about cleaning your fruits and veggies Les?
I have just been using dawn dish soap and scrubbing them pretty well and giving them a nice hot consistent rinse, older fellow I know who grows a wonderful organic variety simply pops the fruit off the vine and begins munching it

Goodday les, great garden :peace: CA

LOL Thank you about the lettuce buds. You should be fine with lettuce as long as watered properly, I've seen people grow lettuce in 90 F temperatures, so as long as you get the variety you want, Should be no different than growing grass :) Just stay organic with the veggies.

Well, the only fruit I'll pop off the tree and eat is the cherry tomatos, other than that, I will give the veggies a hot rinse and should be good, Unless its carrots in which case we'll need to scrub them very hard and good to get the dirt out.

Also, I typically pick strawberries and eat them directly off the plant, no need to wash them typically..
Thanks again for stoppin by the 'ol garden!:thanks:

Garden is looking great, and your cat's got some wicked teeth there! She looks like she enjoys snoozin' though. :)

Thank you kindly! Yeah, her play time can be a little more rough than a lot of cats. Sharp claws, sharp teeth. Love this cat, she just sleeps ALL day in the garden, in front of the different planter boxes. Occasionally wakes up to medicate with catnip and munch some high quality organic food, last time we weighed her she was about 16-17 pounds. She loves her little backyard environment. Not too warm not too cold. All in all, if you feel how she feels correctly she can be just a bundle of love who'll sit in your lap and never get up.

Everything is looking beautiful. Have you noticed that when your lettuce gets too old the leaves are super bitter?

I have noticed a change in their flavor on the bitter side towards the end of their maturity, and they begin releasing a white gooey substance as well. They really gave us a lot of lettuce this year and with only 4-5 plants. Going to probably plant some more soon for the winter crop.

Thanks for stoppin' by!:thanks:
