Regretfully quiting my habit

I've quit many times during my years as an old hippie pothead.

My times of abstinence have ranged from several months, to a couple years, to the last break which lasted 15 years.

That long dry stretch was the result of a conviction for cultivation, and it effectively knocked getting high right out of my lifestyle.

If, during a time of abstinence, I took just one hit, I would be "hooked" again and launch into a new cycle of smoking.

Recently I got a medical authorization, a half ounce, and pipe.

Since my first toke a couple of months ago, I have acquired a bunch of pipes, a bong, and a vaporizer.

I have also gotten my grow equipment together and am about to launch into my first crop in 15 years.

I'm back, and I'm loving it.

what you said about taking a hit during a period of abstinence is absolutely right... i remember was DONE smoking, had no desire to smoke. well a couple of my buddies were talkin to me, smoking a j... i wasn't gonna hit it. then i figued, "eh, what the heck." and i did it out of sheer boredom... after that, i was wanting more and more again! so when you're at that point where you don't particularly need pot (even though it might enhance and make everything better, haha) just SAY NO. that is, if you have a reason... if you're trying not to smoke. as soon as I'm done with my six years, I'm gonna be back smoking... but for now, I need to get out of this town, get some experience, save up some money, get an education, etc. Sure, it comes with a military stringency (if that's even a word, haha) but it is surely worth it. Pot is great, but you need to get your life in order first. I hope this is what happens to me. I'm going to learn a foreign language and hopefully get hired or something using that skill... I hear everyone wants bilingual employees. I hope that's the case when I get out!

Glad to here it's a little better. I am in the same boat, I have to quit also to find a job. I have to give blood though so I can't substitute which really sucks. I haven't quit for years and it is already driving me nutty. though like you I too smoked today while working and the day just sailed by. I visited your state recently and went to the ozarks. We had a pretty good time It was my first visit there. If you ever need to get it off your chest pm me anytime. :peace2
And good luck on the job search.

well have u consider non smoking on a daily basis? I mean if is your health that is concerning you, then just smoke a lil bit less or do it only on weekends perhaps.

thanks keninpain.wouldn't be so bad if my family hadn't took my inheritance and sold it all.i worked a total of 15yrs for my grandfather and after he passed away everybody got counted but me.he used to tell me stick with it it takes time, and you will get what you deserve.wrong.my cousins that are younger than me got 20,000 a peice, property and cattle, i had taken care of for the last 5yrs my grandfather was alive.i got a pat on the back and a boot in the ass.our company installed state approved septic tanks,so my first 7 years i waded in,worked in,fell in ,and even had it thrown on me.sorry its a sensitive subject so i rant about it,my bad.thanks for the info on misssouri keninpain.:welldone:

Man, your story sounds exactly like mine. My gramps is about to do me the same way. I'm even from the same state!! I've quit several times for a lot of different reasons. My longest was for 4 years when I went in the military. The first couple days are the worst, but it gets better. I still hung out with all my buddies that smoke and it's kind of nice to not smoke it. Sometimes they'll be dry and everybody is trying to figure out where to get it, how much, blah, blah, blah, and you feel good because you don't even care about it anymore. Best of luck no matter what you decide to do. Later, Brother.
