Refers Random Bagseed-First Grow Ever-2009

Thanks for the info turfman50. I do plan on getting more cfls when I move them into a bigger space. which I hope to do with in the next 2 weeks. And when you say heat blanket in the camping section are you talking about those thin silver reflective ones?
yes thats it

Nice for first :rollit:

How often do You water?
How Dry Do you let them get before watering is the soil still wet?

You will need to up the size of your pots .. when you do, try to get
Foxfarm or Happy Frog.. if not .. mix in some perilite and peat moss
to help with drainage. I stay far away from MG.

keep it up!

I was wondering about what you said. Do you think I can continue this grow with the MG soil if I were to add perilite and peat moss? and if so, how much of each should I add? I planned on getting the FF ocean forest but then I found out how much it cost. I am working on limited funds. Also I'm running out of space in my grow box and plan on moving them into a bigger space and transplant them into their final pots. You think 3 gallon would be big enough? Also, you mentioned how often I water. Do you have like a rule of thumb on watering? Thanks in advance for any info.

When I started I purchased alot of different soils as they failed. Wally World Basic to FF OF(Fully Fed with One Fee) I always had more Problem issues with MG.. so.. I never use it.

SLANDER* It will kill your plants instantly!!! It Makes your plants turn male! *SLANDER

The bigger your pot the bigger your plant, but too small will cause problems. In my space I never needed larger than 3(6)gal.. thats from seed to harvest. for SoG I use 1(12) or 2(8)gal and veg clone 1 week.

(#)= ammount I can fit in cab.

I don't know what your soil consists of.. when you replant try adding 1½ cups of perilite to one pot and 4 cups to the other lol, more/ less.. Perilite retains water and ogygen and helps drainage.

peat moss, will help lower the soil pH and hardwood ash, bone meal,or crushed oyster shells will help to raise the soil pH. Check your PH and add accordingly.

IMO you should make a loan and get the FF OF and transplant immediately! After trying to resolve the issues with MG and and more possibly.. that could stunt further growth and delay harvest.....(stress to the plants is a good way to make hermies btw).... It will cost less overall to buy FF OF and start learning from there... unless you want a challenge.

Also, Put a fire alarm near the box :ganjamon:

Thanks for the info Justaddwater. And no kidding about the fire alarm! I get nervous everytime I go somewhere for a while. Anyway, I went to a local hydro store (just to look around) yesterday and they had everything I need. I plan to get the FF OF along with their tiger bloom, grow big and big bloom. Think thats good for nutes? And I figured I should get some of that liquid seaweed stuff. Also, I will be transplanting into 3 gallon pots. Hope thats good enough. If anyone has any recommendations or any comments on what I play to using I would be happy to hear them because I plan to get all that stuff tomorrow. Thanks

DAY 17

Alright, I still do not have a way to post my good quality pictures so I guess my phone pics will have to do. It has been 17 days since these were put in soil after germination. They seem to be doing well, except there is one with a problem. I circled the problem in the pictures below. Some of the leafs is curling up much more now and I don't know why. Maybe not enough water? Anyway thay are running out of space. I will be getting some supplies for a bigger space tomorrow along with some nutes and pots and whatnot. Maybe you experts can take a look at these pictures and see if you see anything wrong, beside their bad quality. Now for the Pictures...

Just a front view of the box.

I circled the problem part in this picture. Any ideas?

A blurry but closer look at the problem leaf.

I circled this one where I noticed just a little bit of yellowing blotchyness on the edges of some of the leafs. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Alright thats all for now. Hope you guys like the pictures! Feel free to comment on them and let me know what you think. I will try to get some good quality pictures as soon as I can.

And if anyone has any pointers or info about those problems I have circled please let me know what you think. Thanks

Awesome start. The Curling doesn't really seem to be much of a problem that I see...though it is trying to tell you something, no expert but could be drainage problem, or could just be a funky leaf you know. The Yellowing is probably from MG time release nutes.

Thanks Tokenhax. You might be right about the drainage problem. When I water I don't actually measure I just pour it in and I always check the bottom of the pots to see the water run out the bottom and I never see it coming out. I don't want to over water though so I just stop when I think they have gotten enough. I just gotta get better soil, I'm sure that will help with alot of these problems.

Try watering from below. Let the plant sit in ½ inch of water for 30 min.
Measure what they weigh when soaked and measure when dry (leaves wilting)
and you will see when they need water and when it only "looks" like they need water.

They look good. Good to hear you will move them to the better soil.

The Grow Big and Big Bloom are good products, I personally use Old Age Grow and OA Bloom, try adding some guano and worm castings. Give them a few days/week to adjust to the new soil then start with half strength on the nutes... I wouldn't suggest going Full Blast. If your soil is prepared right, you will only need to water or use mild teas.
if you need to save cash just get the soil for now.. it has plenty in it to get the plants on track without immediate nutes.

You will see the difference when the get in the better soil.
good luck :ganjamon:

Watering from below and weighing them sounds like a good idea, I will definately try that. And do you think using the grow big and big bloom should be good enough? That would be nice. I'll take this shopping list I have accumulated so far and see what i can pick up tomorrow. Thanks for the help!

i had that happen to me when i put my four hindu babies in that mg i went out and got ff of and my baby hindu are happy also went to walmart for some of those heat blanket in the camping section that will help you soil x light x nutes x great care = great buds :yummy::yummy::yummy: :smokin:

Alright, I'm taking all of your guys advice and going shopping today. I'm looking to get FF OF, and I hope 1 bag will be enough for (4) 3 gallon pots, which I also plan on getting today. I'm getting perilite to mix in and hopefully stretch out the FF OF a little bit. I'm going to get those Camping fire blankets, some kind of measuring cup, ph tester and also new bulbs.
Now I have seen different info on using cfls, I saw on the everything you need to know about growing thread that you use soft cfls for veg, and daylight for flower. And I have seen in other journals that people do it the other way around. Anyone got any info on this for me before I go out and buy the wrong bulbs?

Those bags are 1.5 cubic ft. you might want to get 2

:ganjamon:

I knew 1 wouldent be enough. They are like 40$ a bag around here. Damn, You think when I add perilite, worm castings and guano in along with (1) 1.5 cf FF OF, that it would be enough for (4) 3 gallon pots? I did the math and figured you get a little more that (3) 3 gallon pots with 1.5 cf of soil. I thought maybe with the other additives that it would stretch to 4 pots. I we will just have to see...

DAY 18

Alright. I got the supplies.

1.5cf FF OF, FF Big Bloom, FF Grow Big, Milwaukee Ph600, 3 gallon pots, 8 100W daylight cfls, and everything for wiring up the lights. I'm gonna put it all together now and I'll post after with some pics. Wish me luck!!

DAY 19

Hey everybody!
I did finish the new space last night and I completed the transplant into the new soil and everything. I am getting the cable to connect my good camera to my computer in a little bit so I'm gonna wait untill then to post some pictures of the new setup. Be back in a few hours.
